Great review! Had a chance to try 2021 on the day after release day and fully enjoyed it. In fact I was lucky enough to scored two at retail price. I still have 5 bottles of 2017 LE I bought back in 2018 for Y10,000 each. Can't believe it is being sold for $1000.... I will open one for my upcoming birthday for sure. It's been awhile since I tasted 2017LE!
Hi James. Thanks so much for your comment. Well done on getting two bottles. Nice work! Prices on the Japanese whisky secondary market have become insane. Really great to hear you have a nice stock of Yama LE 2017. You are going to enjoy your birthday as it is a great dram. Happy Birthday in advance! Please subscribe for more, and share any of our videos you find interesting far and wide! 🙏
Fantastic review Mac. Don't think I have tried any Yamazaki yet but all sound decent. The Aloha Whisky bar makes a fantastic backdrop, keep up the brilliant videos!
@@KanpaiPlanet Hell yes! I'm overjoyed to find your channel! Recently I have started to collect Japanese Whisky. Unfortunately It's very difficult to find something in Russia. However I already have Yamazaki 18,Hakushu 18, Hibiki 2021 Limited, Yamazaki 2021 Limited and Hibiki Blossom.
Really enjoyed this, Mac! I managed to grab a bottle of the 2021 ($1000 though :( ) and haven't opened it yet, as its a gift for my son (born in 2021) when he's 18. I'm always keeping an eye out for it in London bars, and will try it one day! Or most likely, when I get back to Japan next year...
Great video as usual Mac, and I especially appreciate that you compared it to Yamazaki LE 2017 and the 12. I have a bottle of the LE 2017 I still need to open, and I've already tasted the 12... and will probably order a bottle of the 12. But I'd still love to be able to find a bottle of the LE 2021 at a reasonable price... but it's highly unlikely I know :( Anyway, great job as usual Mac!
Hi Christophe. Thanks for your comment. I'm sure I'll review some drams in isolation (like Godzilla Energy 🐲! ) but it just makes sense to me to do a comp, and without doing the whole range these two seemed the most sensible. I'm very jealous you own a Yama LE 2017! It is a great dram, but I can understand the pressure to leave that bottle unopened! Yama 12 is great. Thanks always, and Kanpai!
Never say never, although I assume it is a tough one to find at any kind of reasonable price outside of Japan. You'll just have to come to Tokyo my friend!
That's definitely one reason Ben! It's a key reason why it's more expensive than Hibiki Blossom Harmony (th-cam.com/video/zzsaYpITfJc/w-d-xo.html) in the secondary market. Thanks for watching and commenting. Please subscribe for more!
It is. Aloha Whisky Bar in Ikebukuro, Tokyo! Thanks for subscribing. Next step: Share these videos with all your friends! I would love to get more eyeballs on the channel, and with the support of great people like you it can happen! 🙏🙏🙏
When blending 30000 bottles, do they just mix it up in a big bucket to ensure they are consistent or can a satisfactory result be obtained using a small bucket and adding standard components in proportion?
Try the kaiyo mizunara. They do the Jefferson's ocean thing where they put it in mizunara casks and age it on a boat. They have a peated version as well
Bought many back in the day for $120. Very worth that, and perhaps worth more. The 43% is unforgivable. Simply why, when it's marketed at whisky geeks?? Also, obviously carmel colored. Again, why?!?!? Know your target. Having said all that, it's a good whisky, but boy could've it been legendary,,,,,,,

Love this video. Can't wait to go to Aloha Whisky to sample some. Keep up the great work on this channel.
Thank you so much! You should also check out the Blossom Harmony. Hope you enjoyed my review of that too!
Yet another release I have to have. I hope they make a check to you for promoting it! Thanks!
If only Suntory needed the help! They can put out anything and it'll fly off the shelves!

Thank you Jeff. If you can get them at a decent price, try the Yama 12 and, especially, the Yama 18. Even the NAS is great. Thanks for watching!
Great review. Loved the comparisons!! Cheers
Thanks for the review!
Anytime! Hope you've enjoyed some of the other reviews on the channel too!

Sounds like a really nice dram. I wonder if I'll ever get to try it
I hope you do. It possible to try it, whether you can do so at a reasonable price is another matter...
Awesome review! 1 of the first seen on TH-cam. You should do a Hakushu Peated Malt 2021 LE to complete the circle.
Thanks for commenting Dave! I'll track down a Hakushu and complete the set! Please subscribe for more and share with all your friends!
Another amazing video from an expert!
Thanks so much sir! Glad you enjoyed it!

That is one lovely present to look forward to Dale! I wonder if any bars in the UK have it at all?
@@KanpaiPlanet I'm sure some of the top bars do. Maybe Milroy's or some hotels? Let you know if I find it!
Looking forward to the intel!

Would love to try this one. Just tried the Chita. My word it’s great.

Aged completely in virgin mizunara barrels?
So they say!

I just bought Suntory Limited Edition Bottle “The Rolling Stones 50th Anniversary” and YT just lead me to the wiki of Suntory
That's such a high honour to bestow! Check this video out about Yamazaki 18. I think you'll enjoy it: You'll th-cam.com/video/uTRFRfNx52A/w-d-xo.html

I’m sure Suntory has enough vatting tank capacity for this “small batch”
Aged solely in mizunara casks? I think I may have just discovered my unicorn!
It's great to see a bottle like this back in the market!
Try the kaiyo mizunara. They do the Jefferson's ocean thing where they put it in mizunara casks and age it on a boat. They have a peated version as well
It was interesting to compare 3 Yamazaki whiskies in the same price range.
Thank you for watching! Comparing the whiskies is important to me so thank you for commenting on it!
hahaha, I see what you did there ... just continually comparing more and more so you can get a nibble of all of them. good strategy!
It's an expensive strategy though!
