  • ‪@CanaanOfficialShop‬ silently drops the Avalon Nano 3 and wipes out the entire BTC mini miner market with it. 2 words... Game Changer!

    BitAxe, irrelevant! Marslander, a complete joke! ‪@futurebit‬, overpriced! The Avalon Nano 3 blows every BTC mini miner out of the water!
    and tbh, the build quality and design is so great that even non-BTC mini miner manufacturers like Goldshell and iPollo should take note. Canaan just upended the entire mini ASIC miner market w/ this release that has more features than any other mini ASIC while barely costing $100. The new standard has been set! Let's do some quick comparisons and math:
    Bitmain Antminer S19 XP Hydro
    Price: $6,098
    Speed: 257 Th/s
    Power: 5,304 watts
    Avalon Nano 3
    Price: $99
    Speed: 4 Th/s
    Power: 140 watts
    We take the S19's 257 Th/s and divide that by the Avalon Nano 3's 4 Th/s and get 64.25, so we would need 65 of the Avalon Nano 3's to compete with 1 Antminer.
    We take those 65 units and multiply it by the $99 price tag and get $6,475.
    As for the power consumption comparison: 65 units and multiply it by 140 watts equals 9,100 watts of power.
    The only four things I see the Avalon has going for it is 1) availabilty, 2) less noise?, no special power input requirements, and 3) the ability to start small and scale up.

      don't get me wrong, big ASICs are the way to go and always best value proposition. This is just a cool stylish affordable and high build quality entry point for home miners who have had little choice to get into bitcoin mining as the current stock of mini BTC ASICs are either way overpriced, or practically negligible hashrate.

      USB-C power supply capable of at least 140w output. That is the tough part since most laptop psus don't go that high. Gaming laptop PSUs might be best option but can be $$$. Why i ended up just paying the $30 for the psu.

      I set mine to $0 and they arrived lol. but yeah, Indiegogo is a little different than Kickstarter in their revenue structure. Whereas Kickstarter takes a % of the projects net funds raised, Indiegogo relies on donations at checkout for providing you the opportunity to support a project. I asked Shirley about bulk orders but was told that during the initial campaign they will only support purchases through Indiegogo or other resellers. I would imagine long term they will sell directly on their own website like their other products which allows for bulk orders.

      Do not waste your money. Unless your electricity is free. Most people using these rigs make less than a dollar a month NET, after paying for electricity. Where I live it would cost me $16 per month to run this 24/7. If I make 30 cents per day, $9 per month of BTC, I end up losing $7 per month. The play is to assume your BTC will double in price in a few years, but I would not hold your breath.

      You do understand this is marketed as a heater for at a workstation right? Just happens to mine BTC and have higher hashrate than anything else at this low price point. So, it's a well built mini space heater that offsets some of its costs w/ BTC. Or just use as a lottery miner, still better buy than any other lottery miner.

    🧐🤔 Im thinking of buying 8 or 10 of these to put around the home and office and Shop. In your opinion, what would be the best way to set these up? Should I have a few lottery mining and the rest on the other mode, should i pool or Solo mine? Also should I run these on high or medium for longevity of the device? Im just looking for tips or advice on the best way to run these?

    • @motorcityminer
      @motorcityminer  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If you have 8-10 total, many possibilities depending on your risk appetite. High risk = All lottery (would be effectively one really large lottery miner around 30-40TH/s depending on settings), Medium Risk = some lottery, some pool, Low Risk = all pool (at 30-40TH would be a respectable $3 a day revenue (not profit)).
      For settings, I prefer the Medium 90w @ 3TH setting. Less wear and tear and PSU runs cooler and will likely last longer. Also seems to be the sweet spot efficiency wise on these. However, if heating house, you might need to run on High setting depending on size of house and weather.

    I have 3 and know a bit about these now having swapped components over and sourcing replacement fans they make 2 versions of this G1 mini. This one you have is the 4000 rpm version. The fan IC is on the hash board. So if You replace the fan with high current capability lome the 0.47A 6000 rpm fan it will still only spin at 4000 rpm. Theu also make a 5000 rpm version and they come with better fans from the factory with dual bearings. They are green sticker. The hash control board on top of the miner is what controls the hash speed. Swapping this board over has no effect on fan speed but I have a slow, medium and fastest control board naturally and swapping the control board to a different moner achieves the same hash as with other chips. So the silicon lottory is in the control board ontop and not the chip board. Also you want the 5000rpm version. Check with factory before order to make sure they send you that version.

    • @motorcityminer

    • @E69apeTheMatrix420
      @E69apeTheMatrix420 25 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I take it back. The 12v fans spin at different RPM. That depends on the amps of the fan. So my upgraded 0.47A fans do spin at 6400 rpm but only show in the dash at 4000 rpm. I believe its a glitch in the firmware because the green 0.2A fans say they spin at 5400rpm and thar is not possible according tho the fans specification. Those purple fans are terrible though the bearings are noisy. They are 6020PWM

    • @E69apeTheMatrix420
      @E69apeTheMatrix420 25 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@motorcityminer And encase You are wondering or worried about using higher amp fans. Its no problem because the G1 mini is 120 watts and the power supply is 180 watts so You have PLENTY spare. amps X volts = watts. so the 0.2a fans are 0.2amops x 12 volt = 1.4 watts each. 9.6 watts total. my 0.47amp x 12 volt = 5.64 watts each. x 4 = 22.56 watts total. minus the 9.6 watts the original fans are is a total of 16.92 watts extra I am now pulling about 135 watts from the 180w power supply. Its fine.

    So with halving next week for BTC and assuming 0.20 kwh all in electricity costs + $70K BTC spot price, ROI on this is looking close to 2 years. What I'm wondering is, what if you hooked this up to a Kano or NiceHash to generically mine 256. They reward you in BTC. Currently ROI would be a year. But would this also get halved next week or is it only if you are mining BTC directly in a pool or solo mode? Cheers.

    • @motorcityminer
      @motorcityminer  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      So Nicehash rents SHA-256 algo which you get paid for. Only BTC has halving next week (BCH already had a few weeks ago, other SHA-256 coins vary). To predict how earnings on Nicehash will be affected is rather hard since it depends what SHA-256 coins your specific machine is rented for. Majority of rentals are for BTC and thus when mining after halving will affect earnings by 50%. But since in theory your machine could be rented for other coins that don't have halving those earnings would remain the same. So, if I had to guess, I would expect slightly less than a true halving in earnings on Nicehash, maybe 40%-45%. But again, really hard to predict as solely dependent on demand for each SHA-256 coin on Nicehash

Braiins seemed to be better at first, but once I tuned the chips manually with Hiveos then re-ran the autotune, then tuned again manually, Hiveos turned out superior.

    These mini miners are total scams. Pools have minimum thresholds you need to reach before a payout and these things would take literally forever to reach that then most of it would be taken in pool fees and gas fees. You'll never make anything from this

      yeah this is more a cool little novelty item most meant to be a lottery miner and workstation space heater. But it is awesome compared to the competition at the price point. For payouts w/o fees, ViaBTC seems to have lowest threshold of the major pools at 0.001 which would be quite a few months w/ only a single 4TH unit. Braiins will allow payouts at 0.0002 BTC which is much more achievable but does have fees

    • @motorcityminer
      @motorcityminer  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      very true @justh0dl. I sometimes forget how many people use nicehash and it typically pays out higher for miners due to demand cost of rental anyway. maybe i'll put one unit on nicehash and one on viabtc for comparison of earnings.

      @@motorcityminer NiceHash payment thresholds are pretty high. Honestly I bought 2 L3+ used for $50 each. I rent the hash rate out on miningrigrentals and earn about $5 a day. When they aren’t rented they just click back to the pool I want them mining on it’s been insanely profitable

    I don't see how to get profitable. even with a more efficient S19 and I get 3818,88 kWh / month (COST here ~ $1350) while earning 0,0000344 BTC (EARN currently ~$2,4). Do I miss anything?

    • @motorcityminer
      @motorcityminer  25 วันที่ผ่านมา

      At current value of BTC, most miners are indeed unprofitable at most electric rates especially your very high rate of $0.35 KWh. Typically you will want at least below $0.10 KWh rates for crypto mining to be profitable and even then depends on coin and current value. The specific model in this vid is no exception but at only 140w can be used as a lottery miner for relatively cheap

  • @OFFGRID_Trucker

    A mini box miner is way more efficient than one of these. Which is why I have a mini doge and a couple of KD boxes. Better ROI and heating ability for the money. ROI on one of these is going to be 3 to 4 years. So not worth it.

    Do not waste your money. Unless your electricity is free. Most people using these rigs that make a profit, make less than a dollar a month NET, after paying for electricity. Where I live it would cost me $18 per month to run this 24/7. If I make 30 cents per day, $9 per month of BTC, I end up losing $7 per month. The play is to assume your BTC will double in price in a few years, but I would not hold your breath.
    On most web sites it is being sold as a "desktop heater" that can mine BTC. If you want a toy, go for it.
    IMO if you're going to spend a hundred bucks and make zero money, you may as well solo mine and hope you catch a block. At least you have a chance of a big score, and in the end, you are not spending any more than you would for this waste of money.

    • @motorcityminer
      @motorcityminer  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You do understand this is marketed as a heater for at a workstation right? Just happens to mine BTC and have higher hashrate than anything else at this low price point. So, it's a well built mini space heater that offsets some of its costs w/ BTC. Or you can in fact use as a lottery miner, still better buy than any other lottery miner as the hashrate is significantly higher than other lottery miners.

      ok, proof? They def work as workstation space heater. Wife uses it at her desk as she is typically cold and this gives decent heat in the immediate vicinity (no it will not heat an entire room but again not what it is marketed as, it is a desktop heater, room heaters are like 500w device minimum typically and cost way more to run), and I get some BTC or play the lottery depending how I feel. Not sure what you're not getting here? It's not for everyone but does have a use case as small space heater/novelty miner which is exactly what it is marketed as.

      @@motorcityminer The only proof I need is the title of your click bait video - "Destroys All BTC Mini ASICs" - oddly missing from the click bait title is the word "heater".
      160 watts (ie, a hundred watt and a sixty watt light bulb) is not going to warm anyone's fingers or toes anywhere in, around, on top of or under a "workstation".
      You're lying to your audience and people without the money to spend on this crap will waste their hard earned money and end up with a larger electric bill so you can shill this crap. You should be ashamed of yourself.

    • @motorcityminer
      @motorcityminer  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Uhm, it does destroy all mini BTC ASICs on performance, price, and build quality. Please find me a single BTC ASIC that can do 4TH and costs under $150 dollars. or does 4TH at 140w. I'll wait...
      Oh and clearly you don't understand basic science or else you would now a 160w lightbulb would output a completely different amount of heat than a computer since much of the energy in a light bulb turns into... wait for ... light... duh... whereas a computer outputs... heat... and i guess in this case wifi radio waves which are negligible energy wise. Please go tell anyone who has ever run a GPU @ 140w that it creates no noticeable heat on their gaming desk and see what they say.
      Also, I ain't shilling anything. I bought this, receive nothing for discussing it, and just say it how it is. There is no other bitcoin miner that has this performance at this low cost that makes bitcoin mining accessible to most if interested.
      Do yourself a favor and actually use any bit of logic before you make yourself look like a fool again.
