    That punch is made in Taiwan, my hometown ! When the punch appeared at stationary exhibition this year, all products sold out !
    I started to use disc binding system from July, and I made a bullet journal. Now I want to buy more discs for making different purposes of notebooks.
    Addict on DIY notebook !😊♥️

    Hi there! That was so eaaaaasy! I was looking for a video like this because I wanted to know if the mushroom puncher works fine and it seems its perfect! I already buy it from aliexpress (with a big mount of disc xD) so I can finally make my own disc notebook.

    • @RibelMay
      @RibelMay  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Nandika, thanks for your comment!
      With the plastic front and back cover I think between the 120-160 standard A4 (100 grams paper) to keep it comfortable to use and turn the pages, it also depends on how many tab sheets you have in there, those are mostly a bit thicker :)

    Can the mushroom-punch punch laminated covers and plastic covers too ?
    I would love to use my own DIY laminated covers for the DIY disc bound notebook

    • @RibelMay
      @RibelMay  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yea, it's strong enough to go through thin plastic covers aswell. The covers I use are from plastic too. So Laminated covers should be fine aswell.

    There's something I can't seem to get straight answers for anywhere, and it is this: are the moshroom sizes standarized? meaning any punch will do the correct size for the discs?

    • @RibelMay
      @RibelMay  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't think I can give you an answer to that question aswell, only can share what I experienced. I tried this puncher with many different discs, smaller and larger ones, different brands, and they all fitted. So maybe it is kinda standard?

    I really want to try the disk technique to make a book of shadows!! Is this technique durable?

    • @RibelMay
      @RibelMay  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would say it is, the notebooks have endless options when you have created a couple with tabsheets. You can customise it to the fullest. I stopped using this for everything since it is a bit time consuming, but if you have the time it is durable.

    hi! can i ask about how much paper can the mushroom puncher punch tgt? or is it only 1 paper per punch?

    • @RibelMay
      @RibelMay  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! You have to do more than 1 paper a time. If you only do 1 or 2 papers the chances of the mushroom puncher getting stuck is higher. How many exact papers depends on the thickness of the paper, but normal sheets should be around 20 maximum at a time

  • @thecraftyteacher265
    @thecraftyteacher265 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    awesome job... what is the weight of the printing paper you used? eg. 20lbs 22lbs etc

    • @RibelMay
      @RibelMay  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, thanks for your sweet comment. I don't know about lbs measurements, but the normal white paper is 80 grams, it's from a relatively cheap store, although it is good, I would recommend more like 100 upto 200 grams if you have the option. Since I assume you will be using highlighters (like the famous Stabilo Boss or Mildliners that I like to use) since with 80 grams you can have the highlighter 'bleed or ghost' through the paper. Hope that was useful :) take care!

    If you don't mind, can you please share the measurement of the final cover after all the cutting
    And thank you for your guidelines. I bought all those items long ago but just started using them recently, then found my punches aren't aligning properly. Your tips were really helpful

    • @RibelMay
      @RibelMay  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am glad to hear you found my tips helpful! I'll measure the plastic cover tomorrow for you when I'll have it in my hands again :]

    • @RibelMay
      @RibelMay  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I am using A4 sized paper which is 210 × 297 mm (corresponding with 8.3 × 11.7 inches). The cover pieces of my notebooks (after the cutting) are 225 × 305 mm (8.85 × 12 inches).
      For if you want to know where I punch (measured the middle of the mushrooms:
      First one starts15mm (0.6 inches) away from the beginning, in between two discs is (measured middle to middle) 25mm (1 inch).
      A little tip: I am keeping the width (horizontal) longer in case I want to add the tab sheets that stick out more, so these won't be wider than the cover piece.
      I hope I helped you out with this! :] Take care Sadia!

      I only see this comment now :o
      The things I used so far are plastics, like the cover of a folder, but also placemats (cutted in the right format) I have also use thicker carton but I wasn't a fan of that. Goodluck!
