      Amped Outdoors? My 20Ah was nothing but an Alibaba battery with their label slapped on it. First went bad after about a year. Replacement bit the dust after about 6 months.

    Thanks for purchasing and then tearing down for us, it is appreciated. A suggestion, try charging and discharging the pack several times before you reach a decision on it's capacity. The cycling may raise the capacity. As a 4S3P the BMS must be regulating the voltage down to 13.X Volts. What is the fully charged voltage of the pack? The 4S3P configuration would yield 4 times 4.2V (fully charged cells in series) or 16.8V.

    • @iceholepower8012
      @iceholepower8012  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think you're getting your battery chemistries mixed up. A fully charged LiFeP04 cell is 3.6v.
      3.6v X 4 liFeP04 cells in series is 14.4V the same voltage as the output on the charger.

    • @amham48
      @amham48 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      My LiFePO4 fully charge to 4.2V (18650/21700/32650)...try yours.

    • @Mazlem
      @Mazlem 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@amham48 Most 18650's are lithium ion and 4.2v per cell is correct for those (LiFePo4's do exist in 18650 format too). 26650's and 32650's are LiFePo4 which only goes to 3.65v like Ice Hole said, so if you're putting LiFePo4 cells on a charger and it's taking them to 4.2v, that's very bad. Your charger can't auto detect what chemistry the cell you put on it has; instead you need to flip a switch or change a setting between the two types.

    I just bought a powerbox 10. I have a question I'm running a 12 volt bilge pump and the battery only runs the system for almost three hours. I called the tech at Dakota and he said the run time was correct. The pump is a Seaflow 12 volt 1100 gph max amp draw states 1.8 amp hour. My question is am I getting the correct answer😅 from Dakota.

    Hello enjoying and learning a great deal from your battery teardowns
    Obviously all batteries are not created equal and price is not a good indicator of build quality
    I am building a near waterproof battery box with a planned 12AH or 18Ah battery
    Interested in your opinion of brand with a decent build quality. What would you recommend for independent powering of boat instruments
    Plan on running a digital yachts GPS-160 wifi which draws just 125 mA plus a cigarette adapter to charge 2 iPads at 5V at 4 amps using an anker charger
    May also occasionally run a 150watt inverter from the battery as well via cigarette lighter
    Thanks in advance
    Randy

    I was going to say I thought you were being rather strict in your assessment of the battery, until you said it cost $180. Wow. That is expensive for 18 amp hrs. You can get a 100 amp hr battery from Zooms for $320 so I did not expect such a high price on this one. If you are spending $180 for a 18 amp hr battery it better be absolutely the very highest quality build and definitely not measuring less than 18 amp hrs. Thank for the vid.

    • @iceholepower8012
      @iceholepower8012  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I am pretty hard on batteries, especially at this price point. Prices have come down so much in the last 5 years but a lot of the popular lithium battery companies are stuck at the $8 to $10 per amp hour price point for batteries that are similar to the quality of batteries that are half the price.
