- Quarken is a high quality Finnish designed and built start up company who have been influenced by the likes of Axopar, Saxdor and Nimbus. In this video we tour the Quarken 27 t-top to discover all the features of this functional day boat.
I believe this will be one of the brands to watch in 2023 as the quality of their first model is exceptionally high. The design is sensible, easy to use and will genuinely bring value to so many people who want to maximise their fun on the water.

Impressive! When we cruised Scandinavia, one of our overall impressions was the widespread high quality of their products, certainly to include their boats. Dan, a suggestion: You've done reviews on several brands where you had one model but a second model is also available...like the Quarken 27, which has a cabin version. You could splice in a pic or two of the 'other model' and help fill out the impressions we're able to acquire from your reviews. That Q27 cabin model looks soooo Finish!
G'day Jack! Yes that's a good suggestion. I was so focused on trying to bring you guys extra camera angles and getting the sound to match up on all my cameras I neglected to put an image of the cabin into the video - good point! As of last week I've decided to go full time on TH-cam so I'll be spending more time on the editing to make my content more useful for you guys. Really appreciate the feedback Jack!

US market is a challenge for new brands as you guys are so huge the demand can be massive. I suspect it will depend on Quarken's production capacity. I've not been to their factory so have no idea of that yet.

Awesome! Super happy to hear this. I sometimes wonder if I'm going into too much detail but I figured that there are already some great TH-camrs doing walkthroughs so perhaps with my content I can give you guys the extra detail and take you for a spin.

Here in North America, people really like boating to the sandbars and anchoring up near the beach...so it's really nice to see the videos where you are anchored up at the beach. It's always interesting to see the boats in such waters. It's those unique shots that I really like. Thanks again for your response 😊

Love all your videos which are so in-depth and helps get a good understanding of the boat without seeing it in real-life. How would you compare this Quarken 27, Saxdor 270 and Ryck 280? The Ryck feels the most spacious in the cabin and has a proper head. But space on the deck looks quite similar or which feels most spacious? How would you compare them as all-rounders?
G’day Aloysius, I’m going to make some comparison videos of these boats in the coming month or so as a LOT of people are writing to me to ask about this and every boat has so many different points it’s best I cover it in detail on a video or you guys.

Sorry to be so slow on the uptake! Per the comment just below, here's a video done by Quarken of their 27 cabin version. VERY interesting given it's offset to starboard and so offers much more direct access forward (to the 'lounge area', anchor and disembarking from the bow). I know there are Cabin versions sold and on their way to Australia but we are having a lot of shipping delays due to quarantine controls here so I might have to test it next month when i'm in Europe again...?

I've seen a few up there. When I was a teenager we would have rowing practise not far from this spot before school and we had very big sharks swim under the boats on more than one occasion. We also swam after rowing training...!!?? But that was the 1990's and things were a lot more relaxed back then with teaches and coaches.
Dan, great review. Am I correct in assuming that all variations of their 27, example the Cabin Model, all have the same hull design? And do they make any accommodations for a Kicker Motor?

G'day John, yes you are correct it's based on the same hull design. I don't recall any reference for a kicker motor in the options list however if you did wish to install one I would do it on the port swim platform on a removable bracket and store the motor below the floor under the middle deck hatch.
