This song is how I first discovered Powerman 5000. After I strayed away from Sonic games for a while after complications with a former best friend of mine, I found out that their song "Bombshell" was used for the Dudley Boyz in WWE. That made me like the band even more.
The singer is actually Rob Zombie's brother, to those people who don't know. And yes, I know I used Sonic and pro wrestling in the same sentence, but I don't care.

You know, I wouldn't mind if they brought back the dark, melodramatic plots, so long as Sonic still acts the same as he does now.
Sonic in the Adventure games, took everything too seriously. He was a hero made for the plot, as opposed to the plot being made to suit him.
If he was popping jokes like he does in Colours, Generations, and Lost World, all the while the plot was as dark and dramatic as in the DC era; it could make for some very interesting interactions between him and other key characters. I'd imagine it being kinda like a Spider-Man comic, only, if Spider-Man had ADHD and coated himself in syringes and blue house paint.

I still listen to it anyway, but that doesn't change the fact that these lyrics are trying way too hard to be as gritty as possible. The other songs aren't really all that dark (there isn't really anything extremely dark about "All of Me" or "All Hail shadow" for instance), but this one goes a bit overboard for most people. Would "gritty" or "heavy" be better words to use in this case?

I don't know why everyone bitches about this song... Shadow the Hedgehog was a dark game and metal is dark music. Fits just fine if you ask me. I mean shit you can choose to kill eggman, conquer the planet, destroy the human race, terror bomb an entire city, etc. So don't bitch about there being metal in a game that was clearly not meant to be the typical sunshiny happy story that the sonic games are generally know for.

@Pink Morales No, I agree with you. The 2010s of Sonic is pretty lame. A word never to be associated with Sonic. I loved the Sonic games because even if they're bad, they did what they did with conviction . I do like the storybook series, Sonic 06, and even this game to some degree. Now all Sega does is make fun of themselves with cringy, meta humor, make all characters with a personality past the first dimension become shells of their former selves.(I'm especially looking at you, Shadow!) And make games that appeal to game journalists, who are cruel to this series because Sonic 06 bad, and people who aren't fans. A.K.A, people who don't get the appeal of the franchise. And don't even get me started with the mandates. I just hope they are making those Adventure remakes that everyone says they're making.

One time we (me, my family, and my relatives) went to spend three days in a house with a garden and a swimming pool. But due to my ear inflammation i wasn't allowed to swim while all my brothers and cousins went all splashy washy. so i was stuck in that situation for 2 days, but luckily we brought our ps2. I sat there alone playing this game and listening to this soundtrack.. I'm very thankful for it.
As a Sonic song, this is reeeeeally unfitting, but as a general Rock/Heavy Metal song this is pretty damn good.
And yes, this _does_ remind me of Devil May Cry.

People say this song is too over the top, but I think that's the point. When Shadow started out, he wanted to figure out his past. Destroying the world/conquering the universe is a BIIIIIIG jump from that.

This song is either indicative of Shadow's mental state as he's become nothing but a hollowed out shell of what he was originally, or it's the death throes of humanity as they're destroyed utterly by aliens and their psychotic black-and-red hedgehog enforcer.
I think it's both, as it plays in the ending, where both of those things happen - there's nothing in Shadow left from the black-and-red hedgehog Maria considered pretty much her brother and the humanity is doomed anyway. At this point, he's either an insane, omnicidal maniac (Pure Dark - Dark), a backstabber and a new leader of the Black Arms (Pure Dark - Hero), an elite servant of the Black Doom (Slightly Dark - Dark) or someone, who decides, that only he knows, what's best for him (Slightly Dark - Hero)
And people say that Infinite's theme is edgy.
I think that this ties it or breaks it.

It was originally going to be rated T. But around the time the game came out they introduced the E10+ rating so they slightly edited it so it could be not T. I still think it should have been rated that though

Alright the game was edgy, but most of the soundtrack was pretty good and just awesome to listen to. This one tho, PURE EDGE. Doesn't make it bad, but you can't call this one anything but EDGY.

Sapphire Luna Why would Shadow even NEED guns anyways? He's as strong and fast as Sonic and able to survive orbital re-entry so you would think he would be above the stuff. Sonic and Knuckles have a point on that much at least.

This song isn't edgy. Not in of itself. It's a hard rock song, a great one at that. Shadow the Hedgehog wasn't bad per se due to concept, but execution. There's nothing wrong with a deep and meaningful Sonic game, but then it should be established upon the Shadow we saw in SA2. Broken and shattered, his whole world crushed and every waking moment is a cruel reminder of what he has lost. Everything he sees is dead to him, his hope and happiness was faded when the bullet pierced Maria's abdomen. Only one option remains. Throw it all away. Destroy everything. If the world is so corrupt that humanity as a species permitted the murder of someone so innocent, so hopeful, then humankind, as a whole, is an evil too great to be permitted to exist.
This is the Shadow we should have had. This is the Shadow we need. Not the hormonally imbalanced misanthrope we see in Shadow the Hedgehog. Nor the superficial, angsty, provocative malcontent Boom makes him out to be. If Sega can't bring back that Shadow, then he should be left alone. He died saving the earth from Gerald Robotnik, and he never came back.
I haven`t played this game, but I hope when I play it I get a good time.

I have no problem with this game (hell, I liked 06) but they shouldn't have had cursing. that was what caused me to never get to play it as a kid, and they could have just used the guns to make a fresh mechanic instead of having to make shadow over the top amounts of edgy

+DarkMettaton I don't think Damn and Hell are really that bad of words... It's only natural that people say them. I could understand maybe if they went a little over the top with using any kind of word and all the time. In this game you either just have to die a lot or get to a couple of cut scenes. It's a little over exaggerated how much swearing is actually in the game. And the gun thing shouldn't even really be a big issue in my opinion because kids play worse games. Also, we take other superhero type characters pretty seriously that are very powerful and don't need guns. Look at Spawn. He has so much power but he still prefers his primal instincts to use a weapon. And it's not like you'd ever see anyone other than Shadow use a gun. In the game, Sonic literally said he wouldn't be caught dead using one of those. If I had powers, I'd still use a weapon. People over exaggerate everything about this game and think it's edgy and emo when in all actuality, most of the things in this game can easily be related to human nature and is quite realistic, personality wise. It had a good, serious story. It had good in game and vocal music. Cool levels. It played exactly like a Sonic game. That's all that I could ask for in a Sonic game.

I actually liked the Infinite's theme. But I agreed that this song have a different sentiment for me. It's a misture of every edge genres 2000's rock(which, in my opinion, are cool and addicting). Even be a bit exaggerated, it's... cool! It's all I have to say! Even that not combine.
P.S: I can speak same thing to the Infinite's theme. I liked the "Linkin Park sentiment" they do in the music.
