- China's representative at the ICJ Ma Xinmin spoke on Israel's ongoing occupation of Palestinian territories, and makes the point to the Hague that the right to resist against an occupying force is protected under international law, and such a right should be extended to Palestinians.

He is right regarding the international law. According to International Law, " States may not use force against the lawful exercise of self-determination. while those seeking self-determination may use military force, if there is no other way to achieve their goal".
International law does NOT allow the commission of atrocities in armed resistance - which is what Hamas did on 7 October.

It has long been well known that the distinction between terrorists and freedom fighters is essentially based on whether they are considered allies or enemies, and nothing else.
The American definition of terrorism is totally weird anyway. Under their definitions, you can be a terrorist without hurting, or wanting to hurt, a single living being. It's enough if you damage a thing, so long as you are doing it to protect the environment. Because protecting the environment is, apparently, such an odious goal that the mere idea people are fighting for it terrorizes the population. More precisely the 1% of the population that counts.

This is hilariously rich coming from China. See their invasion and occupation of Tibet, oppression of Hong Kong, constant military threatening of Taiwan, silence regarding Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Though their oppression, "reeducation", and arguable, genocide of the Uyghurs, a Muslim minority within China is perhaps even more poignant in this case. We all know China is just fine with denying peoples right to self determination when it suits their interest. There has been no shortage of bad faith on the part of Isreal and Palestinians, I'm not going to argue for the moral high ground in either direction. However let's also not pretend what a "free Palestine" would look like, it won't be a bastion of liberal democracy in the middle east, it will continue to be violent, it will continue to launch missiles into Israeli cities until it's been made to stop. It's not a rational entity that is working in a productive way in pursuit of Palestinian interests. The attacks in October demonstrated that, the rocket attacks and other attacks continuously have demonstrated that for decades, these acts cannot achieve any sort of military or political advantage, but Israel will always use them as justification for further oppression. The only point there ever has been is the century old efforts of Muslim nations to kill all the Jews and Christians in the region just as they already have done in every other Muslim controlled nation in the middle east. Other Muslim countries participate in bottling up the Palestinians by closing borders, denying refugee status, while supplying weapons, training and stoking this oppressor narrative to get them to attack Israel and ensure there never is peace between the two groups. The west takes *far* more refugee's than Muslim countries do, provides far more aid, has initiated more peace talks and ceasefires, yet, somehow we are the baddies in this, sure, "free palestine from the river to the sea" what a bunch of moralistic lunacy.

This is exatly what everybody could see coming by the US supporting Israel and not demanding a cease fire. If China decides to supply arms or military support of any type the US will find itself in a situation with no way out. Just another conflict the US entered into and lost. When they could of stayed the course with the support of Ukraine and sent a clear message.

Article 51 of the UN Charter does speak to the right of self-defence, and it has outlined that an attack that would trigger self-defence must be committed by another member state and cannot have originated from a territory that is under belligerent occupation by the state that is claiming self-defence.
In other words, Palestinians and their territory are under illegal occupation, and therefore any attacks that emanate from Gaza-which is under Israel’s control as an occupier-does not allow for Israel to use force against Gaza as self-defence as outlined in Article 51 of the Charter.
Someone needs to tell this to the British prime minister Rishi Sunak. He wrongly says that Israel has the right to self-defence. Consequently, the British prime minister is breaching international law.
Palestine is not a state and never was a state. Palestine refers to a territory controlled by the Ottomans. The very idea that the palestinians could ever have any “authority” over themselves or have a government at all is a myth perpetrated by israel itself.
So attacks committed by non-member states are totally immune from consequence, according to your inept reading of the law.

Taiwan and Tibet have far more in common with Scottish or Catalan independence movements. The uyghurs the same, or perhaps more akin to the Kurds. These sort of independence movements are wholly different from the plight of the Palestinians, who had a white settler colonial state foisted upon them by a foreign power. There's no hypocrisy here.
It would be hypocrisy if the Chinese representation was standing there arguing for Catalan, Scottish or Kurdish independent statehood.
