    Great testing. You’re probably the best cpu fan reviewer out there

      I have a vision of even better testing in the future but channel needs to go a bit to afford equipment. :)

    Man, for a workstation (reliability, performance and no BS frills), the Antec T3 fans are looking like a good choice. I am just hoping the FDB is of good quality. Generally I like Noctua Redux PWM fans for case fans for reliability and value but these may be the new choice. Any thoughts? Usually I use Fractal cases. Good info, will have to check back to see your other content.

    • @computer-tech-more
      @computer-tech-more  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Well Antec Storm fans do perform well for their cost, but their MTBF is pretty low. So if they are easy to replace could be a "cheap" option. I'm not currently equipped to do reliability testing. Noctuas are known for reliability but you pay for it. So if your looking for low maintenance I would go noctua.

    Weird use case, but I'm looking for PC fans to use for a diy air purifier. Basically i need something to exhaust air out of a box made of filters. Would this be a good option over the p12?

    • @computer-tech-more
      @computer-tech-more  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      haha I've been looking into the same thing.
      SO best but noisiest and largest is buying a box fan and 4 filters. ~40 for the fan then price of filters.
      Now for PC fans its best to use what ever fans you have. but if your buying fans new for this. I read a lot of people say teh P14 is good.
      the goal being cheaper fans, but still good: I would say in the 140mm size: P14max, KazeFlex 140, P12Max FDB, P12, TL-S12 / K12
      I have some older fans I will just use for it that I dont need for my fan reviews as baseline testers.

    Is CFM most important for a case fan? If most of the components (GPU, CPU) have their own fans, is getting as much air into the case the most important thing?

    • @computer-tech-more
      @computer-tech-more  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So CFM is a factor but it doesnt give you much info about how a fan moves air. Not sure if this is a good analogy. Home AC/heat vs a desk fan/heater.
      Your home AC moves a lot of air but you can still feel hot or cold despite your thermostat saying its at temp. while a fan blowing on you will cool you down. so its just as important how the air gets thru the case.
      keep in mind some air in even badly directed is better than no air. but for best efficiency you want fans with good directed air flow.
      so CFM is most valid as a metric when looking at coolers / radiators because then airflow thru that is very important but also static pressure.
      if this make sence. If its still confusing ill try to think of a better analogy.

    • @snakezdewiggle6084
      @snakezdewiggle6084 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe I can help ???
      Ok, so CFM is important with a case fan. It's how much new / fresh air that can be pushed into the case. Works best with a second fan drawing bad / hot air out of the case.
      Static Pressure, more = better, in every way.
      Hope that helps.
      ;)

    • @computer-tech-more
      @computer-tech-more  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@snakezdewiggle6084 CFM is technically correct but not everything. So CFM total is just as important as How the fan blows air into the case as in directional. You want the air to get to where it is going. CFM and how focused the air flow is are both important for intake fans in standard layout cases.
      For exhaust fans my point doesnt matter thats all CFM.

      @@computer-tech-more the shape of airflow has its terminology. Fans blowing air in a cone and scattering it all around have TURBULENT airflow, while fans blowing air in straight line have LINEAR airflow.
      To take it further, you can indirectly influence the shape. Air filter put straight in front of a fan will turn even a fan with linear flow into turbulent. Increasing the distance between fan and filter can also increase the total area, through which a fan can pull air.
      You can also put a fan shroud behind the fan, effectively straightening the flow of air from it.
      Silverstone has a lot of info about these topics. Google "silverstone tech talk", then look for topics about fan filters and airflow.

    • @Morpheus-pt3wq
      @Morpheus-pt3wq ปีที่แล้ว

      @@snakezdewiggle6084 sadly, static pressure remains fairly low for most of the fan rpm. Biggest gains are always in last 300 rpm - which means, you need to spin it really fast to gain anything, which introduces noise and also goes far into realm of diminishing returns. It´s instead important to find balance between noise and performance.
      While i have Noctuas A12x25 on my PC intake and they blow a lot of air on max rpm, i found out, that if i spin them at 1700-1800rpm, the noise is bearable, but temperature of components inside of my PC isn´t affected anymore. Small sidenote: When you have multiple fans side to side on a case intake or on a radiator, they tend to vibrate against each other, which can cause them to be noisier, than when used as standalone. While impossible to avoid on radiator, on a case you can put small gaps between the fans. Before i did that, i was only able to bear fan noise until 1600rpm, now i can handle 1800rpm.

  • @TTks124

    My man, you seem to be genuine, but your testing is incredibly off. The noise normalised chart is bonkers.................
    Just by pure logic, "eye balling it" and with a tiny bit of experience you can tell your chart is completely wrong.
    A 120mm fan design like nf a12x25, p12 tunned for pressure, low airflow, will spin a lot faster than something like 140mm design tunned for both like the nf a14, storm t30.
    For the same noise level that the nf a14 does at 1300rpm, a P12/a12x25 it's gonna spin at 1700-1800rpm.

    • @computer-tech-more
      @computer-tech-more  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would call the fans adequate. there are obviously better fan but they do tend to cost more. they should be fine starter fans. as they wear-out / die you can replace them with something better.
      Part of the reason you buy a case that comes with fans is because it comes with fans. It also depends on budget and are you going air cooling or AIO.
      ***sorry long story short: yes i think they will be fine starts for any build.

    thanks, i appreciate the review, and i'm surprised there aren't a lot of other reviews given their unique dimensions. just picked up a torrent compact and was looking for 140mm fans to stick in the bottom. the antec fans seem great, and it's nice to see antec trying to be competitive again, since it seems like they just kind of dropped off of the map for the past decade or so. these look like an excellent value, and they're about $10 each on amazon right now, which is honestly insane for fans of this caliber.
