    I like that they covered the roofs of villas and beach-side buildings with grass to look more natural. They certainly incorporated instagramalbe elements into the design like the pool lights and lobby view. That's not a bad thing - just a recognition that people want to post photos of themselves while on vacation.

    • @tfft
      @tfft  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sure, I fully support the Instagramable vistas- I just think the physical metal photo frames all over the property are silly ☺️ Thanks for watching 🙏🏻

    Since this video was 2 years ago and maybe some are looking for somewhere to stay in Samui, I thought I would give my two cents’ worth after staying for a couple nights in June 2024.
    The beach is quite a bit bigger now and the single row of deck chairs have been shifted down onto the beach. There is also a pontoon of sorts where guests can walk further out to the water for swimming or snorkelling. The Sesun beach bar is more integrated into the beach as there is more beachfront seating and a more open concept as the plants dividing the beach and Sesun have been removed. Food is generally excellent, the breakfast buffet is extensive and its quality matches up to it. I would go to the extent to say that there is just way too much good food. The seafood served at Sesun is amazing too.
    Rooms are still kept in immaculate condition with not a scratch to be found. The sea view rooms are definitely the best and worth the premium. I would even say they are better than the villas as there is not much difference. The pool, however was strangely cloudy during my stay and the water tasted salty. They probably used poorly filtered seawater to fill the pool, so please take note. However, the pool is still generally clean but due to the amount of people you can’t expect a crystal clear and pristine pool sadly. I would say that’s the low point of the resort. This place itself can be considered a high-end resort, but due to the crowds the feeling of exclusivity is lowered and can only be said as a typical property for families. The staff are really fast, kind and helpful in their service. It was about $250 sgd per night, which was really cheap as we booked last minute.
    After 2 years I think my score for this place would be 92/100 with the main cons being the crowds and huge families. However if you know how to strategise and manage the crowds it wouldn’t be much of an issue.

    This is the second review of this property l have watched but by far the best! The sunrise views nature at its finest! Also the Sesun restaurant was closed in the other review which was more recent than this video. The soup was made from green split pea or fresh pea hence the colour. The back of the lobby overlooking the beach and pool area is it an optical illusion or is there no barrier? That's a scary drop for s small child if no safety barrier 🤔. Another beautiful cinematic experience through your lens👍

    • @tfft
      @tfft  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ah yeah for the Pistou I was just surprised because normally Pistou soup looks like a cross between Italian Wedding and Minestrone soups. Still tasty though.
      In the lobby there was no barrier but you’d have to step in water to get right up to the edge.

    Nice video of a really lovely hotel. One suggestion - quieter, less "specific" music. Something more atmospheric and slower... the current piano track gets repetitive and nervous, and it becomes unlistenable if the video is played back at higher speed (which some of us do when we want to see quickly the whole video, slowing at times of more interest).

    • @tfft

      @@tfft You've clearly made a very serious effort to provide useful content (and honestly, good hotels reviews are extremely valuable!), so I'll give some more feedback. Your voice is fine. It's a bit lacking in dynamics or excitement, mainly because it sounds like you are reading a script. Probably you wrote a script and read it for voiceovers (which is generally better than people who ad-lib "um" "so" and so fort). On the other hand, a sense of "live" is more engaging. Also, live shows a bit of one's quirks and nature, which can actually endear audiences. One of the best tour guides is Aquaholic, who does boat tours. If you can capture his speaking approach to tours, I think you'll level up. And if you stay the same, that's actually quite fine as you're off to a very good start. Just calm the music ;).

    • @tfft
      @tfft  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is a path you can see in the video that runs from the main beach area to the rocks where I filmed the sunrise which runs directly in front of the villas. The villas are set back and higher up than the path. It's easy to catch a glance in either direction but in order for someone to really see what was going on in the villa they'd need to obviously be trying to do it. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻

    "His and hers, his and his, hers and hers or theirs" 😄 Good to see your channel is inclusive!! I'm not a fan of a clear wall surrounding the toilet, what's the point of even having a screen if it's clear🤷‍♀️. The TV looks odd in the room on that stand, lm no interior designer but there is surely a better place for it aesthetically. The whole resort is Instagramable no need for those silly metal photo frames when it is framed already👍

    be „in the club“ / to have „access to the club“. Been thinking of booking a room in this resort, thanks to your report :-)

    • @tfft
      @tfft  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Many Hyatt hotels have clubs which only certain guests can access depending on their guest status or the category of room they stay in. The clubs are separate indoor/outdoor spaces which always offer breakfast and afternoon drinks/canapes and sometimes much more.

    Great video review, and I'm a fan of your videos and really appreciate your honest feedback given in all your videos. However, I am scratching my head a bit based on the higher rating you gave the Sala Chaweng over this particular Hyatt Regency resort. Granted it's not an entirely apples to apples comparison as it would have been more suitable to be able to compare the Hyatt's base rooms to the room you stayed at the Sala Chaweng. At the end of the day, I guess ratings can be subjective and also a bit based on personal taste I gather

    • @tfft
      @tfft  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The only reason I had a villa at the Hyatt is because of the damage from the heavy rains- it wasn’t a typical upgrade. If it was an on arrival upgrade then yes perhaps it would have been higher, but the normal price of the villa at the time was more than double the price of the room I had at Sala. I try not to assess based on my own tastes, but rather if it is ‘as sold’ and relative to the price I paid.

      @@tfft wow we will need to compare notes. Airport transfer driver was late, they gave me a mouldy room at check in at 10pm, I asked for a room change it took 2 hours only to put me back in the same room. I waited more than 24 hours for someone to come address the issue but no one came. After that fiasco, my whole family got food poisoning 2 days into our stay, from their beach restaurant and we know for sure because we hadn't left the resort since we got there and we know exactly what it was. I asked to speak with the GM and he basically palmed me off to another manager without even a proper handover. Someone cooking the food is severely under qualified to do so. I then checked google reviews to see if this was an isolated issue... Take a look for yourself, it has a sleuw of food poisoning complaints. I travel alot and have never experienced such a horrific management. I've been to Thailand probably 15 times, never had food poisoning before.
