    Would you prefer to use a turbo trainer or an indoor bike? 🤔

    • @nickvandam1214
      @nickvandam1214 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Like many I'd prefer to ride outdoors, and in the past I had no use for riding indoors... however I got a smart trainer last year and it has been a fantastic addition, given most of my free time to ride happens in the dark hours of the day. I prefer the trainer as options are far less expensive and I like that I get to ride the bike I will take to races.

      Trainer for sure. Outdoors is great but if you’re serious about training then indoors wins hands down for consistency 365 days a year

    Hi Alex, one thing I’m missing in this kind of video is why I’d choose a bike vs a trainer I can put my bike on. Would be great if this kind of things could be included in future videos to further support people on the market for new indoor training solutions

    • @matt.3.14
      @matt.3.14 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Really, it's just the convenience of not having to put a bike on and off the trainer and reduced wear on the bike. A side benefit of not having a dirty/greasy/waxy item in your living space. I keep one bike on the trainer in the summer, and then switch in the fall to put my "good" bike on the trainer and use the trainer bike for the occasional outdoor ride.

    • @EmilyGuist
      @EmilyGuist ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a very small home and putting a bike on the trainer means I can put the trainer away tucked in a corner when done for the day.

    • @coreyhipps7483
      @coreyhipps7483 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I had a Tacx Neo and now have a Tacx Neo Bike.
      I did not like the inconvenience of needing to take my bike on and off the trainer. Also, due to how the screw was done with my rear derailer mount I wound up needing to replace it from the extra wear of going on and off the trainer.
      For me, I find that I am better about using the trainer the lower the barrier of entry to its use is. So, having the bike always more or less ready to use (rather than having to take on and off my bike from a trainer) means I use the trainer a LOT more than I used to (and am now more consistent in working out and training).
      Granted, this is all very much a luxury that I can afford to do this.
      But, this is my reasoning for having the bike vs trainer.

    I’m on a zwift team and my 6 year old tacx flux trainer is not good enough accuracy for some of our races & in the last month I’ve had 5 dropouts during races!! Which is defeating after training & recons. So I think I’m going for the Shift to save daily wear on my outdoor bike.

    The move groove does the sam as the motion plates which Tacx brought out a year ago for the Neo 2T. I didn't like it as it makes sprinting awkward. Thankfully, the motion plates can be easily removed for certain sessions or permanently.

    I've been curious about power rollers. More, I've been curious why Kreitler has not offered a power option to add to their existing rollers, but to that end I've been wondering what is currently on the market for rollers that have adjustable resistance for virtual riding. If I could convert my Kreitlers I would definitely be in the indoor bike camp.

    • @veganpotterthevegan
      @veganpotterthevegan ปีที่แล้ว

      Even the rollers with dummy resistance sucks. I don't see smart rollers changing that. I have a Kickr and Kreitlers and only use the rollers for a recovery day or high cadence work where power doesn't matter. I hated the resistance setup for the rollers and don't use it

      The feet on the side legs are rubber, and shaped so the flex provides some movement. IIRC, there are three different feet options so you can choose how much resistance they provide based on your weight and how easily you want the bike to sway. It's the same as previous versions of the Kickr.

    I'm brand new to this entire world of cycling and indoor trainers, but I want to add it to my training. You mentioned this model doesn't have "indoor racing". What are you referring to? I'm also trying to get up to speed on the whole Zwift thing and plan to use it with my indoor cycling, so this model won't allow me to join a race if I get to the point where I want to race?

    • @kvanc2763
      @kvanc2763 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      by indoor racing it is almost always meant races that happen on zwift. There are categories like cat c / cat b / cat a but I find that people who are usually to good for cat c for instance join the races and win easily for ego boost. But nonetheless categories make it fun for beginners as well. No you can basically join a race on zwift with any smart trainer whatever the brand or model.

      @aliancemd ปีที่แล้ว +4

      If you get out of the saddle up a hill, the bike dances under you, it is not that “silly”.
      In the end, they allow you to lock it if you really like the solid wall feel

    • @geoff5623
      @geoff5623 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's definitely different, and sometimes a little weird compared to the normal movement riding outside, but an understandable technical limitation when you have to keep your axle fixed to the resistance unit. I'm more interested in it as a way to increase comfort while using the trainer than a simulation of outside riding, but the Move isn't a worthwhile upgrade for me from an older Kickr
