  • Where business and humanity merge.
A place where the workers come first and excellent work become inevitable.
Imagine a situation where the workers and teams have everything they need and pretty much everything they want. Workers at front of mind.
What do you think the work is like?
And so, what do you think the customer experience is like?
This simple approach is how we serve the people, the community and our forest logistics customers.
    HISTORY
In 1970 Tapio Kajavala planted trees, an honest yet humble job. Weekends he shot deer to sell. His wife was a night shift nurse. Together they put enough money aside to start KFL in Kawerau in 1972. A small, hardworking forest harvesting business.
1996 saw KFL experiment with, then, cutting-edge computer systems to maximise returns to the forest owner. These systems were best based in Log Yards rather than in forests. The positive results saw KFL shift from forest harvesting to Log Yard management and log logistics.

    Jacob has a people focus.

This is awesome....i'd love to rub this video into the faces of two of my previous employers that preferred toxic corporate environments where you back stabbed your way to the top ....we lost so many good talented people who got disheartened when they saw vicious , negative ill manned people getting ahead and getting all the rewards of better pay and conditions in management positions....all the while the workers had to work harder to keep the greedy people looking good. Good on you KFL!

Good on youse. "Look after the people and they will look after the land." I said that in a pub "debate" once. Thankyou for showing it's true. Cheers.

What stopped the boss being a prick and turned him around? You mentioned a change in attitude. Very close to home and a sweet story to watch.

Interesting seeing the timbertech. Havnt seen one for 20 years.
Question: How do you keep the skiddys going when a processor is more profitable?

Could this be a resuscitation of a once thriving K town? I hope so. The big question though is how long will it be sustained?

    Man, that's impressive, and far-sighted.
    Good company.
They realise that their people are their biggest asset, but not just on paper - they seem to actually care for them.
    Hard to find.

So this company squashed the competition ?and once no one was left to run against them they became a industry leader in looking after the worker? Hmmmmmm

I’m also seeing a weird discrepancy about diverging from managers. Either he’s squeeze out all bad people and doesn’t hire frequently, or his portfolio shrunk big time. Then again maybe he got fat on the hog and thought he could go hands offand just boss around. You can’t manage people in a business. You have to be a leader not a manger. Once you develop that you start picking your leaders. Leaders learn to get more out of their teams. Also this really feels like a PR hit piece.
