The MXR M193 GT-OD can produce classic overdrive tones while preserving the dynamics and full bodied tone of your guitar, all at an affordable price. With 3 simple controls, the MXR GT-OD allows for super transparent boost and drive with little or no coloration. In addition, both single coil and humbucking pickups maintain their fullness with the GT-OD's tone control, since all the fat bottom end is preserved throughout the sweep. The M193 GT-OD can also increase your guitar's sustain with a natural, dynamic sounding Gain control.
This is one of the most underrated pedals on the market, it's great
Love when a demo is performed by someone who can actually play and covers the full spectrum of the effect!!
I always had a thing for MXR. For the price I always liked the products they put out.
Same here! Next make great pedals
This is the combo I use...Telecaster with GT-OD into a Handsome Devil right on the edge of breakup. Very organic sounding to my ears.
What amp are you using with that ? :)
At least, I decided for the Gt-Od. I think it sounds so great! Very versatile and transparent. And it is not so expensive. Great vid.
This is just what Pro Guitar Shop needed---a guy who can actually play the guitar doing their demos. I don't know where they found this guy, but he does a great job!
Oh come on! Andy is a very good player too with his own unique style!
It's Brett Kingman.Check out his own Y T channel.
Andy once did a white falcon review, "first" song he plays, "californication" sold on buying the guitar , guy is a review legend .
Whoa, look at this comment, Andy is revered in the IGC. lmao
Just bought this pedal, really nice so far. Solid build too and it looks great/small
It's MXRs version of a tube screamer. I love it
Finally! I was waiting for you to do another demo of this! Nice one
Burgs can never resist some Since I've Been Loving You.
Thanks for getting back to me on that. I love Teles. This one in particular looks pretty sweet.
Got two of them. Very convincing in a band-context and great stack-ability as well (though it's a bit picky on some pedals). "Stackedwise" it's working well with Barbers Direct Drive and the Engl Alpha-Drive. You'll find that kind of ability not very often. After dozens of gigs with the MXR I can truly recommend this nice GT-OD.
FWIW I had a MXR Zakk Wylde OD and when I opened it up printed directly on the circuit board was GT-OD so I am fairly convinced they are the same pedal in a different enclosure in case anyone was curious. Good review Burgs sounds great, love the No More Mr Nice guy riff, not a fan of the entire song but I freaking love that riff.
So it's a modded sd1
Can't wait to get mine, this sounds like a secret weapon !
Sway is such an underrated song
The best way to use this, or any OD pedal IMO, is changing volumes with your guitar. Set your EQ/Tone on your amp so when guitar is on 10 it's breaking up pretty good (I'm starting to like micing a smaller watt tube amp for good organic breakup) then allow this pedal to "color" your tone. This pedal is ok for that but it will add a little mud to your character, the MXR Classic Overdrive is better and no they are NOT the same. Plus the Classic OD has the switch for the Zakk Wylde pedal!
Got you in a SWAY....love that bro
Good to see you back at PGS Bergs!
This pedal is uesd by the great Charlie Parra and his band DIFONIA in their live rock concerts.
Circa 2000 American Standard Tele with Mick Brierley 'Burgerman' Signature pickups. My favourite workhorse.
solid demo, thumbs up!
It wasn't known back then, but the less expensive MXR Classic Overdrive is literally the same pedal. And there's a switch on the inside that turns in to the Zak Wilde OD which is the Boss Super Overdrive.
There's a switch on the board, if you open it up, that toggles between this and the wylde OD. It scoops out the mids a little for a slightly more transparent tone with slightly less gain. Second the idea of an Andy and Burgs jam à la virtual zep, both demoing their top 10 favourite pedals into their favourite amp ....
They are both. I've played this pedal directly next to the MXR Classic Overdrive, Ibanez Tube Screamer, BOSS Super Overdrive, Maxon and MXR Custom Badass Overdrive & OCD. I have the BOSS on my practice rig because it did zap my tone a tad (not true bypass) and was cheap (got it used)! I have two of the MXR Classic Overdrive's on my live rig set at different setting because I felt they were the most versatile. They're warmer/brighter. None of those pedals sounds EXACTLY the same as vids state.
If Andy does demo it, you'll want to buy it.
Really underrated pedal, for me, good as the TS9 (and less expensive), the GT-OD is brighter and has more fat, while the TS is more midrangey... anyway, nice demo ;)
Luca 'Bob' Gotti i agree, it's never gonna leave my pedalboard
Surprised to find out this pedal is similar to the Boss SD 1, Which was ny favorite pedal, but I let it fall to the wayside for trubypass pedal. Now I have my mojo back
I'm not usually a huge fan of MXR but this pedal doesn't sound half bad.
Good sound, thank You!
Brent hinds and mark morton both use this od. If its good enough for those guys, its good enough for me!
you cannot beat this pedal in front of a 6505 (gain about 3-4 on amp) with the gain all the way down, the output all the way up and the Tone just past noon. Beats a tubescreamer IMO
For the 100th, Andy' and Burg's pedalboard demos!
Got one on eBay 39.00 bucks thanks to this video woohooo
hey burgs !
in PGS... thats cool
i have this pedal and i love it !
cheers !
I think for the 1000th video Andy should demo the 65 Amps Soho with the updated equipment and format.
You get a lot better crunch with a smaller tube amp right on the edge of overdrive.
Sounds like Classic Rock in a green casing! It's a nod to the TS?
yes
Man that's sounding good, have you changed something in your sound recording technique? You always sound good but it is a bit clearer than usual.
sway...amazin
I like it !
ALICE COOPER FTW!!!! \m/
he's got such a cool accent
What does GT stand for in GT OD ?
Phil x has a demo of it.
How to eliminate pedal noise? I have an unbearable noise when I connect the pedal without a guitar
turn off your amp bro..
Has Burgs ever done an OCD demo?
nice jacket :D
is this pedal good to boost a distortion pedal in front of it? PLEASE HELP
Brett Kingman :D
well, Glen Buxton kicked so much ass at guitar -- and before purchasing the GT-OD in a store I had it up against the Wylde OD and a Fulltone one-- both the GT and the Wylde one have similar sounds, but over all the GT actually had more gain at max. the board might be the same, but the components are different-- which allow for changes in headroom, dynamics, and so on.
Ryan Caldarone I heard there’s a switch inside that changes it to the Wylde pedal
I have a similar one, but mine reads under the MXR logo, "custom shop" is there a difference?
I don't know but I like the vids from Burgs more than the one from Andy.
next ones the 1000th !
Is this pedal a true bypass type?
Tube Screamer x Maxton OD808 x MXR M193?
As if the OD11 wasn't already rearing its head to be the best bang for the dollar.
In love
Sounds great with a Les Paul
What kind of Telecaster is that?
Hi mates ! Is it ok to play metal songs ?
anyone started saying "no more mr nice guy!!"
is this true bypass and analog?
3:12 SONG NAME?
No More Mister Nice Guy by Alice Cooper ;-)
Aussie aussi aussi
Play with andy on the 1000th video :D
am i insane or did he intro this video with a little Sister Luck by the Black Crowes??
Oh damn kiwi
Lars Von Trier playing guitar
I feel like I'm not getting the most out of my GT-OD.
I don't know...today it arrived and I am quite disappointed. I have fender blues junior snd I have to say that boss od 1x beats in all the way no matter how do I play with knobs either on combo or on pedal. Boss is much more clear, rich and has better sustain🤷🏼♂️
sway
I like MXR but not this one, I agree with PGS review, there is better pedals on this price range for overdrive.
Stones, Sway.
'stones
1000th should be dueling banjos...mmm....guitars.
No more mr Nice Guy Alice Cooper
I was given one by someone who hated it. I must have accumulated 30 OD pedals over the years so why not.Its green, small, cheap and has Custom written on it.Other than that its nothing special.
Anyone here can tell me difference between this pedal and the one with the exact same name but tagged as "custom shop"? Thanks!
None, it's the same pedal (I use it) in every aspect, I do not know why they removed the script "custom shop"... in any case it is a great pedal ;)
Luca 'Bob' Gotti Thanks man! I purchased the pedal. Can't wait to having it in my rig :)
You're welcome! I'm sure you will be satisfied
It arrived, and I am!!! Amazing pedal. Boosting the drive channel of my laney VC30 with it and getting a kickass tone. Thanks for your help
I'm glad you like it, no need for expensive boutiques pedals to have a good sound... maybe I should stop playing the guitar and making the shopkeeper :-D
No Bluesy liks? :v
Sway!
can you please stop putting pedals through a 5000$ gear? even a potatoe will sound perfect...
....A telecaster with some medium hot pickups and a Laney L50H Is a pretty reasonably price set-up.
I used it alot with a fender deville ,for the clean headroom , and its 60 watts. For 300 $ CHEAP AND AMAZING GRIT AND LOUDDD!!!
Пахоооом!
phil x's tone sucks
