These boys are from New Zealand, the language is Te reo Maori. This song is the story of the battle of Pukehinahina. British forces suffered a humiliating defeat in the Battle of Gate Pā (Pukehinahina) on 29 April 1864, with 31 killed and 80 wounded despite vastly outnumbering their Maori foe.
Also the guitar player/singer and drummer are brothers and their grandfather fought in the war against the british

It was an embrassement to the British on how could 1,700 (approx) soldiers and sailors be defeated by just 250 (approx) Maori warriors. Maori abided by the Code of Conduct, which was agreed upon before the battle started, didn't "finish off" the wounded Bristish soldiers but instead gave them water before they left the pa. The British, being sore losers at that time, took their revenge 2 months later and attacked 500 unprepared Maori. Its amongst one of the bloodiest NZ wars.
3 teenagers from New Zealand who are part Maori and sing in Maori too.
One of them has not long graduated from high school and the other two are a little older but still teenagers. In fact, they toured the US as a support band for another band and weren't allowed to perform at one of the shows because of the 21 year old age restriction at the venue.
So they did a show of their own for some Native Americans on a nearby reservation.
And the guy who's butt cheeks you referred to is a Maori warrior.

3 boys from New Zealand 2 of them are brothers who are of Maori decent. They sing some songs in both English and Maori but some of it is in all Maori like this song. The third member has been accepted as part of the Maori tribe as being friends and basically family with the other two. and most of these songs revolve around their ancestry having to fight the English when they invaded. That's the bare bones of what I know. Super cool band love them. They were so great live when they opened for Ministry and so nice to talk to as they did a meet and greet between their set and Ministry's set.
Gotta go to work, but yeah teenagers. The drummer and guitarist are brothers and were 15 and 17 when they recorded this. The bass player was 15 also. They turn 18 20 and 18 this year.

Heads up,in Te Reo the 'Wh' is pronounced as a 'F'. the last word is pronounced 'Fen-oo-wa' and means land.

New Zealand teenagers with Maori descent. They sing in Maori to help bring the language back. We kura Maori schools in NZ we also teach Maori in main stream schools but main curriculum is English.
