  • This is one of about 4000 Pontiac Safari 2-door Station Wagons produced in 1956. Way less than the Chevrolet Nomad brother! This one is 95% complete, but is very rough. Still has the hood ornament though.
They are open Mondays and Wednesdays currently.

Very cool car, I've only seen one Safari wagon before. Really nice car with all the stainless trim on them. The one I saw had a tri-power and buick road master spoke wheels.

1955! The 55 had ''bumperettes'' for bumpers with a grille guard between which is what this has, You should buy this and either rebuild it or use it for parts to rebuild another one!

Don't see many Pontiac wagons at all up here. There is only one I know about up here is at Mitchell's yard . It's black and green in color. But I heard earlier this year they are getting cleaned out too.

55 Pontiac Safari wagon. built 3,760 of them in 1955, my grandparents had a Turquoise and white 56 Safari wagon they bought used in the 1960s. It's no longer around though reverse went out in the transmission in about 1970 and it was parked at my grandpa's wrecking yard. someone came by and bought the motor out of it. and someone else bought the frame from him. it was crushed after that sadly. Grandpa had no idea how rare it was.

People park cars, for unknown reasons they sit many years & owners are reluctant to sell

Very true. A buddy of mine went about 10 years ago to look at a 1959 Impala 2 door hardtop. The older couple wouldn't sell it. It had been sitting since 1967 or 1968 and it had belonged to their son who went missing in action in Vietnam. They told him that it was still sitting in the same spot he had parked it before he left for Vietnam the last time. They hadn't moved it or started it at all over the years.

This is a 1955; notice side trim and different front bumper.

I've only seen maybe 2 of these. A guy about 20 miles away from me has one - completely restored & painted emerald green met. It's absolutely beautiful.! Like em better than the Nomad, a lot more classier looking. That one is worth saving ,at least for a parts car.!

We have video on our channel of our 55 chev two door wagon. and it was a lot worse than the safari. I happen to have the stick trans , bell and flywheel from a 56 pontiac. and a 56 317 engine a 56 GMC 317 engine and also a 60 389 engine.
