Yah and he got ran off for Dak. What could a healthy Romo had done in 16? They let Romo play one drive against Philly and with backup scrubs Romo balled out and threw a td pass. Wanted to complete and win the game but the organization wouldn't let him because they knew had Tony came in and win the came to put Dallas at 14-2 then there would be a QB controversy. They were read to move on and never gave Romo another shot. And this is what we have now. A Dak that's on the verge of being washed at 30 years old. He should be smack in the middle of his prime but he's no regressed to the point that McCarthy has to dumb down the offense to protect Dak.
One of the biggest mistakes Cowboy organization made was not putting Romo back in when he was healthy. Dak has good teams to play on Romo did not. Romo carried teams Dak does not. Dak is a good QB but will never be good enough. @@irbybocksnick839

First of all, Romo had a cannon of an arm. Secondly, he didn’t have the crazy weapons that Dak has, and he had one of the worst HC’s in the league. Granted, Mike isn’t great but he’s much better than Oppie was. Dak isn’t going to beat you over the top very often where as Romo was a constant threat to do that.
The other QB’s mentioned (Foles, Cousins, Flacco, Eli, Watson) all have better arms than Dak and can/have beat/en you over the top.
Romo was 10x better than what he gets credit for.
Romo most definitely did NOT have a cannon, that's a big reason he went undrafted. Romo had amazing touch, accuracy, and anticipation though.

Eagles fan here. I used to legit fear tony romo when we played the cowboys. Ive never felt that way (not even close) about dak. I get why they moved on cause tony was falling apart physically from all his injuries but ive thanked jerry jones every day since lol dak isnt bad but he aint that dude

If Romo had this team available to him in his career we'd have made a championship game because half the mistakes Romo made were because we had absolutely no defense and he knew he had to score every drive to win a game
No comparison from a throwing perspective romos arm strength, ball placement and touch on deep passes you cant compare it. Romo created those receivers. Dez Bryant isnt Dez Bryant without Romo. If we look at the teams. Romo has never had a team like the ones dak has had since he’s entered the league. Romo never had the threat of a defense having too stack the box every game to stop the run. Daks first 3/4 years he’s throwing at defense that set out to stop the run for 4 straight quarters because they have no choice. Once the threat of the run lessened, and the defenses didn’t sell out too stop the run, the threat of the play action lessened, the win percentage went down the turnovers went up.🤔

SHADY McCOY IS SPOT ON WITH WHAT HE SAID ABOUT ROMO AND what the Cowboys are doing with Dak, because Dak can not progress to being a Q.B. who can read the defenses properly and increase his accuracy. Dak has always had these weaknesses, but he could run from time to time, and now he can hardly do that. Dak hit his Apex 3-4 seasons ago, and had been declining every since.

A. Romo had to throw downfield at the end of games way more, that affects interceptions
B. Daks turnover problem has really sprun up specifically the last 2 season and the interception ratio is way worse for dak these 2 years than it was for romo really in most seasons
C. Even though it’s only been like 8 years since romo was starting, the game was still changed so much. QBs are more efficient, the passing game is coordinated better. Since 2014 (really Romos last healthy season), interception ratio has decreased by 0.6% and passer rating has increased by 4.1, you should be expected to be “statistically better” playing in the era right now compared to even 10 years ago, and that’s not factoring in that romo outside of 2008 and 2012 was well we’ll above average in qb stats, and really just INT were the problem that year
I can't count the times I saw Tony give them the points to win but the defence would lay down in the 4th quarter. If Tony was the QB now in his prime he would have a Ring or 2. I remember watching Tony throw 5 interceptions and he still won the game.
Dak drove Dez out of Dallas, Dak is a good guy and a nice face for the Cowboys which is only reason hes still there. He says all the right things and acts the part. He just doesnt have the juice to get the job done. He cannot carry a team. Now that Zeke is gone, our offense has no real leader and it shows.
Minus well see bout getting Kyler Murray or a Kirk Cousins.
Both QBs at least been productive. Some would say more productive than Dak. At least both of em can throw down the field and make plays when you need him. If you trade Dak for either one for that Niners game, they prolly would still lose but the game would’ve been competitive and went down to the last drive. 🤷🏽♂️

Yes, Dak gained success from a dominating OLINE and a 2x league leading running back then after Zeke fell off after the Cancun vacation hold out until they traded for Amari then after injury and Amari got traded BAM back to INT's etc, people need to realize since 2016 Dak is a top 6 most prolific thrower of INT's and top 10 in fumbles. People use the "he's the most accurate passer in the game" well Andy Dalton is rank 1 in accuracy but if you break down Daks accuracy ratio in increments of 5 yards out to 30+ his accuracy drops exponentially.

Romo was a physically broken and injured man with a bad team and was an egregious rule changing play from an NFC Championship game. Totally different circumstances. 2014 Romo was elite and coincidentally it was Travis Fredericks 2nd year and Zack Martins rookie year. Dak benefited by using the team built to help Romo. I hate shows where they have a lady who never played acting like they are experts in a show with former players who know the struggle and reality of NFL life

Tony Romo didn't start throwing picks till towards the end of his career, that just usually happens before a QB retires, even Tom Brady started throwing a few picks right before he retired, but Dak ain't retiring anytime soon so there ain't no excuse.
