Yeah, your DIY fishing hook unhooker were more practical, simple and easy to built and seems more convenient to use in our catch fishes! Thank you for your brilliant ideas.😊😊😊👍👍👍♥️♥️♥️

I just made a hook remover as a trial out of 1/4 inch brass rod and a small broom handle about 30 inches long. I don't have a vise any longer, so I bent the working end with pliers into an exaggerated "S" like a sheppards hook , and bent the other end inline 90°. I drilled a 1/4 inch hole into the broom handle and cut off the excess rod sticking through the broom stick hole I drilled. I then tightly wrapped the brass hook remover to the broom stick with jute twine and then used some large shrink wrap to compress the pieces together.
I've purposefully removed treble hooks from the majority of my lures, and installed barbless siwash hooks in the event I hook a shark, or other toothy fish out of season.

Suggestion: make a shallow bend in the top piece of the handle. That way regardless of which way the thing is laid down there will be some clearance between whatever it is laying on and either one end of handle or the middle of it. Then it will have some clearance under the tool so it will be easier to pick up.

What diameter and length brass did you use and where did you purchase it?

Use a clothes hanger or bike spoke, even a old umbrella, it's not the same but still has a groove to fit on the hook and then press forward

There are two off sets on the model you are copying. The second offset hides the barb of the hook for deep swallowed hooks. The end of the pigtail should be short, not protruding beyond the circle and the end if the metal smooth. Sand or grind smooth before you bend the circle. The gap is relative to the leader width. Correct instructions...Hold the leader in your left hand and the dehooker in your right hand making sure the open end of the circle is facing up. Lay the dehooker on the leader perpendicular, like a bow and arrow. Pull the dehooker towards you until the leader is engaged. With the right hand turn the dehooker a quarter turn clockwise. This puts the leader into the center of the circle. Then slide the dehooker down the leader until you engage the hook. In a deep swallowed situation bring the leader to the dehooker, parallel to the dehooker, keep the leader taught. With both hands together give a short sharp downward jab and the hook is removed. In a lip hook situation... repeat first couple steps, after you engage the hook, move your hands apart making a straight line with the leader and dehooker. Your Left hand in the 8 o'clock position and right hand in the 2 o'clock position. Keeping the leader taught Give a little shake and twist with the right hand and the hook is removed. Please make sure you are removing the hook over the water for catch and release. This method removes the hook quickly and you want the fish to live and not bounce off the deck. Tight lines to you and happy fishing.🌈❤️🌎✌️

I didn't see you extract a hook that was buried beyond the barb, but I could have missed it. Certainly the last hook wasn't.

I just use and old screwdriver with a "J" hook bent on the end, hook the line, pull it tight and flip it.
