    Man, this is almost worth buying for the improved battery alone. I quite like my OH1, but between how much I use it and a little bit of battery degradation, I have to charge it every two or three workouts now. It's always yelling "Charge me," and battery anxiety is real. This looks like a really solid set of improvements; Polar is impressing me lately.

    Just got the Verity Sense. I am dealing with a 18 yr old arortic heart valve replacement that I want to keep tabs on while I'm on the Pickleball court. I get elevated HR at times and need to make sure my HR does not stay high for too long before coming back to normal. Was using a Fitbit style but I'm not confident on the acuracy of it.

    Thanks for the early review. Only thing that would have benefitted me in waiting is the longer battery life and the velco strap(it’s really annoying trying to clear the watch). Got my OH1+ for about 60 on Amazon so I think that was a reasonable savings for slightly lower feature set

    • @ChaseTheSummit

    Hello! Polar Verity Sense seems really good, I have a OH1 and H10 since before. Now to another question regarding recovery on polar. When a do a interval training session. lets say 4x4, it is really demanding. Much more demanding than for example a slow 8-10 km distance run att easy pace. Although I get about the same TRIMP-score bya polar, 3 of 5 red dots. Althoug they verdict the sessions quite diffrently, the interval session is, they say, tempo and max training thats increase vo2max, and the distance run is, they say, good for my aerobic fitness and stamina (something like that). But as I mentioned, I get the same cardio load score and no diffrent suggestion for my recovery. Are there a watch or application right now that does a distinction between hard short and long easy sessions for recovery advise. The same goes for strength training, I can go really hard and be sore for 2 days after a workout, but polar says it was a recovery session and nothing more. Any tips on this difficult topic. My goal is to train as effectively as I can and that includes good recovery and god advice. I would love to see a youtube film on this topic by you where you go really deep into this topic.

    • @ChaseTheSummit
      @ChaseTheSummit  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's interesting. I would have assumed the recovery time would differ. What device are you tracking on? Are you using it in conjunction with a watch or just on the H10/Oh1+?

      The newer polar does not have recovery time just cardio load. The thing is that 4x4 hiit session does not end up in higher in cardio load than 60 min distance run. The data is based on TRIMP. My questiin is if garmin does this better, they base their calculations on First beat?

    Hi Chase ... Nice video.. Two things I forgot to mention to you regarding the Polar OH1 ..few times I did turn on the device and I went for a walk outside , then when I came back , I try to sync the device , but the data was not transmitted ... It happen few times ...Not a pleasant experience . And the second thing... once you see the data online after you did your workout ...What do you really get from it ?? You run too fast or too slow ?? Anything else ??

    • @ChaseTheSummit
      @ChaseTheSummit  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The OH1 is simply an Heart Rate sensor so the data you get from it is just heart rate. If you want distance, cadence, altitude, etc... You'll need to pair the sensor to a phone or watch. What you do with Heart Rate data depends on your goal. For some it's a form of training to see how the HR reacts over time. Hope that helps.

    Do you think it would be possible to make an arm band that would allow you to wear one of the Polar or Garmin watches further up on your arm and therefore get the more accurate heart rate from the built in optical sensors just like on the OH+/Verity Sense?

    • @ChaseTheSummit
      @ChaseTheSummit  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've wondered that myself. With Garmin's quick fit system it's kind of surprising no one has tried it yet. That said, I think the OH1 / Verity Sense have brighter LED's on the sensor... They're like blinding if you look directly at them. I'm sure this plays a role in why they're so accurate too. Thanks for watching!

      I typically wear mine on the inside of my upper forearm in a similar place that someone would get an IV at a hospital. I guess my logic is that's where my veins are most visible? I have the OH1+ but haven't really been using it. Largely due to perhaps me not understanding something. What I want is to have the OH1+ used as a HRM only when I'm in an activity and not all the time. I have the FR245 and haven't figured out how to accomplish this. Is it possible, or am I missing something super obvious. I want to start an activity on my watch and select the OH1 and when the activity is done, disconnect from the OH1 without going through the watch's settings every time.

    • @ChaseTheSummit
      @ChaseTheSummit  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Brice! I think the way Garmin works any time you have an external HR sensor paired it will use that instead of the OHR. So I think the only way to achieve this is to pair your OH1+ to the watch but only turn it on when you're about to start an activity and then turn it off when you're done. Once the OH1+ is powered off the watch will default back to the wrist based sensor. I'm not sure if there's a way to make that automatically happen. Thanks for watching!

    • @ChaseTheSummit
      @ChaseTheSummit  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not really designed for that but you could probably do it in a pinch. The data isn't sync'd to Polar Flow as "wellness" tracking data but rather as an activity. So you'd have a series of daily activities that are several hours long and you'd need to manually crunch the numbers. Does that make sense?

    Do not just throw the band in the wash unless you want the velcro to destroy your workout clothes.
    Take it in the shower with you and give it a wash there.

      The batteries on the chest straps tend to last a REALLY long time which is why I think they haven't moved away from the coin cell. But yeah, rechargeable is always nice! Thanks for watching!
