Parts of the second movement are reminiscent of Bartok's 3rd etude. Overall a superb piece that maintains interest for both the listener and the performer. Based.
Liu really gets this music ! Did CarlVine live in North Africa for a while?I know he is Australian but the music has the heat of North Africaand the rhythms of authentic Africa subSaharan climes in it . So much of his music feelsand transports that clime and feel ! Very different in ways textures similar with and from the 1st Sonata which so many pianists have learned and taken on theroad . This generation's 1990-2010 Barber Ginastera and Prok 6,7,8 recital faves -as are the abundance of tertiary harmony but much different lyrical force less obvious jazzy still very modal . I learned some nes things looking at the score .Thanks for doing the work to make it so easily acessible ! The 7th minute speaks !

A great Sonata. Superb Performance. Brava.
11:16 - This left hand figure is such an earworm.
Don't worry, everything is just Vine

The arpeggios are so _cleeean_
Parts of this are heavily indebted to Tippett's 2nd Piano Sonata, no question.
Bravo - well done !

Your Kapustin uploads are probably just as based.
