I lived in southern Sicily, outside Catania, for 4 1/2 years without a single incident in the 90's. Since then Europe has been besieged by illegal immigration from black countries and they resent it; much like we resent illegal immigrants in the USA. "Sono Americana" may have been the most powerful words I've uttered in Italy.
I’ve been to Europe many times during my military career. France has by far the rudest ppl I’ve encountered. Germans were surprisingly cool; the Greek peoples are very hospitable. I can’t say I’ve encountered overt racism in Europe but I’m not surprised that this happened.
Our family had very positive experiences each time we were assigned overseas. We lived in Germany 4 times, Belgium once and Italy once between 1987 and 2014. We also visited a total of 8 other countries where we had great experiences. I can only say that we were Blessed and we don't take that for granted! I do not doubt this young man's experience and I hate that he had to go through that.
@@Militantreturns Not in Italy nor the last tour in Germany. We were US government employees then. When we traveled, my husband was not in uniform before he retired military. It had nothing to do with uniforms.
Our black ski club was leaving Germany about 30 years ago. The white German lady at the custom office refused to let me take some items out of the country I had purchased. She gave me a death stare. I returned the favor. The items were inexpensive, so I did not give a rat's butt. I knew it was lose lose situation, so I went with the flow. I was at the airport in Germany, I was not going to miss my flight. I was on their turf.

Yes Ms.Desiree but whether you agree or not there is a double standard.Just like Brittany Griner if she had been WHITE the incident would have magically disappeared. If there was no physical assault committed if the officials in Dubai had a small semblance of intelligence they would give her her passport back and explain to her she would not be welcome here for a specific amount of time.If it was Taylor swift this wouldn't have gone this far.
You're not nicer sorry. In Italy, dwa days ago 60year old lady entering her house was killed by a black guy. Beaten to death. We read and hear many such stories in Italy. In Milano a brother entered a house of a lady tried to rape her. He is American..

Been travelling and living overseas "worldwide" for the past 27 years....just got back from Africa actually a couple months ago. Lived between Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia and Uganda for 3 years. Lived in Antalya Turkey for 2 years before that and now back in S.E. Asia. I have to say, I didn't feel what you felt when I was in Africa. The countries and cities I was in, the people wanted to be white. The women bleach their skin and wore horse hair. The men wanted to be Pookie and RayRay. Obviously not all but a large majority of the population. You had to have noticed It when you were there. It broke my heart. They didn't see me as their African brother and that's when I realised that the "Mother land" concept I was taught about growing up was a lie. I had a South African man, tell me we aren't brothers. To me, Africa is basically America lite. Oddly enough, I felt the least amount of racism or (peace) in Antalya Turkey. Many of the Black Americans I met there felt the same. It's like no one gave a damn about race, it was a live and let live society. I'm not like the typical American traveller, I've lived outside America longer than I've been in it, I don't live in the tourist spots, I'm amongst the everyday citizens getting it from the mud. I sit and get to know how they think and this has been my experience. I had an old Kenyan woman ask me, why don't I love White's? She said I should love them because they civilized us blacks. It's crazy when you have to teach Africans about how oppressors came to the continent and took Africans to be slaves. They don't know how hard African Americans have had it and many refuse to believe it. Had a woman in Uganda tell me us African Americans should forgive Whites because they have apologized and didn't mean to make us slaves, they just wanted to give Africans opportunities in the West....smh. The war between black men and women are the same there too....Kenya is especially bad. Lots of toxicity and trauma. Men having whole families on the side and women acting like 304's. That was my 3 year African experience...dating, living in various countries and doing business with the people. It's no different than America unless you go deep in the villages where social media hasn't dominated yet. It's the same for all countries really....been living this nomad life for almost 30 years...I see the passport bros and the attitude they have coming fresh off the plane from America. Oftentimes they get a rude awakening. Or trick in an exotic country with women who will do anything to escape the poverty they're in. Now that's the truth. Phillip, if you want the real on being a black man who truly knows what it's like to travel while black, I would love to give you the real deal brutha. Been doing this since the 90s.
Glad you were able to explain to Phil that Africans do not like Western blacks and we know why they sold us into slavery. I would never set foot in Africa. I am staying here with my other disadvantaged brothers and sisters until Shiloh returns
@@consciousbeauty9244 Thank you. I had to give my experience on the "Mother Land" because most of the people who brag on it, either only visit and mostly stay in tourist spots, have rich friends who act just like elite African Americans, going there with turn up on their minds and don't even notice the things I pointed out. Its very obvious once you take the blinders off. I tell you, when I seen how Africans act in real life across multiple countries for years, it truly broke my heart. Everything I was told as a child was a lie. I brought my mom and nephew to visit for a month, they also left heart broken and disappointed. Africans and African Americans are not the same. They no nothing about our suffering and don't really care. They have their own struggles with being poor, trying to get rich quick and corrupt governments. They have no interest in knowing about the African America experience. I had a Jamaican who also lived in Kenya tell me, they took the best of us away from Africa and left the ones with no potential for greatness. Take a trip with your eyes open and you'll clearly see, they are more aligned with being white then embracing being black.
When I travel internationally, I usually eat with my colleagues, who are non-black and locals. If I need to go alone, I go to recognized hotel restaurants, like Marriot, Hilton. A few times, I ventured out to local restaurants based on places given from my coworkers; if we went there previously or they said it was safe for me. Now, if they are rude when I enter the room, I turn around and go to another place.
We are already born in a nation that doesn’t want us, there is no place even in Africa that “wants” us. Therefore anywhere we go has risk, if we are going to get that upset then we may as well crawl in a box and die. No, we will not shy from this world, we deserve to exist on this planet like everyone else.
Italy gave us the first modern fascist dictatorial government under Mussolini. Their current government is a direct descendant of that political party - it reflects the will of the people...
Italy used to be on the list of places that I wanted to visit, but I will pass on any European country. I was nervous about going to the Philippines, last year. I was surprised at how well I was treated. I only had one older Filipino room service guy that seemed to be mad at the world. He had an off putting demeanor but nothing as bad as I have dealt with here in the states.
In the Philippines it was black U.S soldiers who defected from the U.S army and helped them fight for their freedom. So there isn't as much anti black sentiments there.

"Sono Americana" may have been the most powerful words I've uttered in Italy.
I only travel to African countries where my people are because I blend in with no problems. Also Caribbean countries.
Glad you had a good experience in the Caribbean 🇹🇹

I’ve been to Europe many times during my military career. France has by far the rudest ppl I’ve encountered. Germans were surprisingly cool; the Greek peoples are very hospitable. I can’t say I’ve encountered overt racism in Europe but I’m not surprised that this happened.
Our family had very positive experiences each time we were assigned overseas. We lived in Germany 4 times, Belgium once and Italy once between 1987 and 2014. We also visited a total of 8 other countries where we had great experiences. I can only say that we were Blessed and we don't take that for granted! I do not doubt this young man's experience and I hate that he had to go through that.
the french are absolutely the worst.

@@georgebateman557 no worries, what you wanna know?
Why does people always go where they're not wanted ?
We are already born in a nation that doesn’t want us, there is no place even in Africa that “wants” us. Therefore anywhere we go has risk, if we are going to get that upset then we may as well crawl in a box and die.
