    The best thing about Crocs is being able to put them in the dishwasher. They come out like new 👌

      Damn! I gotta try that. I do love it when they shine. Wonder what my wife will think of this plan ... hmmmm

    What an awesome tiny creek! The scenery around and the size of the larger fish are just amazing. Wish I'd be there and thank you for another beautiful video!

      Yes! That creek from the 2nd day was truly surprising with the quality of fish inside it. Thanks for watching!

    What lovely little streams you find! I thoroughly enjoyed this outing you share - brought back some fond memories. I last fished the Black Hills nearly forty years ago. Many thanks.

    Absolutely lovely location and those fish are amazing. I like the optimistic spin. Sometimes those tough times make the best memories.

      Yes! I think at the end of the day ... being a fisherman is kind of like choosing optimism. Always hopeful.

    As always, lovely and creative camera work Chris! Until now I've underappreciated your sound editing, I know it's tough to put together such a flawless track when dealing with wind noise, etc. Those were some sweet little creeks, glad your Day 2 substitute turned out so well. Makes me want to head out to SD and do some exploring. Thanks!

      Thanks so much as always man! I appreciate that ... sound editing is something that for most doesn't cross over into the conscious realm ... or I guess in other words, most only notice sound when it's bad. I know you have an eye (and ear) for this sort of thing, so I appreciate the nod! Weirdly enough, I changed things up on this video a bit compared to every previous video and let the sound of my b-roll clips come through at a bit higher volume. I don't know if you noticed that or if it was a coincidence or what, just kind of interesting. Let me know if you make it out to the Black Hills one day, maybe I'll come meet you up there.

    Looked like a fun trip, Chris. Nothing like rain on a tarp or tent. Might have to try your Crocs. I used to wet wade in Tevas. Bashed my toes a lot, but those ice cold Colorado streams numbed the pain. No to ramen for breakfast. Big mug of tea and some porridge.

    • @FlickyFlies
      @FlickyFlies  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Smart man, sounds like a good recipe for not getting bubble guts half way through your day, too! Agreed, that sound is so soothing and wonderful. The craziest thing about the crocs is the grip they have ... I haven't wet waded in Tevas to be fair but I have with Chacos and some other sandals (forget the brand) and they were like ice compared to the solid grip of Crocs. Gotta get the "Bistro" model though! Appreciate your comment as always!

    Sitting here on Thanksgiving morning with snow coming down heavily enjoying this video so much! Looking forward to spring and summer again. However, this is the time of year when I get the really big fish. Thanks for another amazing video Chris! Ramen is always a good breakfast…I suggest stirring in a raw egg or 2 and some cut green onions while it’s boiling makes it not only tastier, but more filling as well.

      We got a good bit up in Northern Colorado the day after Thanksgiving! Good idea on the additions, I actually love sprucing up cheap ramen.

    Really appreciate your videos and the outstanding scenery. Agree wholeheartedly with your recommendation to just go fish no matter what the weather. Some of my best catches have been on days when other anglers would not leave the house. Thanks again and keep the outstanding content coming my way.

    Are you new croc goofin? And by the way... A more wholesome breakfast than two packages of ramen? A cheese/jalapeño bagel toasted with garlic butter with an over-easy egg, melted cheddar, crispy bacon, and mayo.

    Where do you find a ghost net with small enough holes for those small fishes? Looking to replace the net on my Handy-Pak net.
    Regarding footwear, it’s Bedrock sandals all summer for me.

    • @FlickyFlies
      @FlickyFlies  ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a Handy-Pak that I love, although I got it with the regular mesh. I'd have gotten the ghost net in hindsight, but I was trying to keep it ultralight for hiking in / backpacking.
      Nowadays I'm using one of Tenkara Rod Co's nets. The Carbon Fiber Small Landing Net. I love it and it is enjoyable using a net with a rigid handle. Also better for holding the fish in the net for a second while I film it. Looks like it's on sale right now too. www.tenkararodco.com/products/tenkara-landing-net?ref=Hi7ZtYAS
      Lemme know if you have any other questions!

    I’ve had trouble connecting to brookies on elk hair caddis flies. Even when I watch them eat and close their mouth on it subsurface, it comes right out. Normal, or anything I can do about it?

    • @FlickyFlies
      @FlickyFlies  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Very normal! Especially if they are a little on the smaller side.

      Man, don't I know it. My Fit is fully paid off though and works great for my real job where I need to drive a good bit and want good MPG. Maybe when I'm a wildy rich and famous TH-cam fisherman I'll splurge a bit more.

      @@FlickyFlies More videos as beautiful as this one and you'll get there (besides, then it would be a deductible business expense)! I second the idea of a 4WD vehicle, though. I'd bet in some of the places you fish if you got stuck in mud you could be there for weeks before someone came along who could pull you out.

    • @FlickyFlies
      @FlickyFlies  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JoeBtfzplk For sure! I'm really careful with where I bring my Fit, no muddin' for me. Once it dies, something more capable will come along. If it ever dies.
