The Bee Gees are brothers. They have been recording since 1958, and write all their own songs as well as many hits for other artists like, Diana Ross, Celine Dion, Barbra Streisand, Dionne Warwick, Frankie Valli, Olivia Newton-John, and others. Barry in the middle is the only one still living. They also had a much younger brother, Andy Gibb, who died in his 30's, who had a solo career. The brother on the left is Robin, whos voice is ONE OF A KIND!! When you hear it you will know what I mean. The brother on the right is Maurice who didnt have lead parts often but when he did!!!!
To hear Robin on lead "I Started A Joke" "Massachusetts" To hear Maurice "Man In The Middle" "Closer Than Close"

It is difficult to imagine how many ear-gasms have happened because of this song, sung by the Bee Gees, but regardless, it is always a pleasure to see a woman experience it.

I grew up with the Bee Gees, & you have no idea how happy it makes me, to see the younger generation discover the music we fell in love with !!! Barry Gibb, in my opinion, has the best falsetto voice ever, & what makes it so incredible, that in his falsetto, he also used his vibrato, which is very rare! Thank you so much for this, they were brothers, & Barry is the last one, but please review more of their music, you will not be disappointed, & they span over years, & crossed many genres :)

It’s a privilege to listen to The Bee Gees.
It’s more of a privilege to have grown up listening to The Bee Gees
It was life moment, and the ultimate privilege to witness this song in person in 79. Truly a breathtaking concert. RIP Robin and Maurice. Godspeed and thank you for the most beautiful music ever created gentlemen.

They are brothers. The one in the middle is Barry, and the other two fraternal twins. On the left, Robin, on the right Maurice. To hear each of the twins voices, try listening to "Man in the Middle" and "For Whom the Bell Tolls".
    You will LOVE IT!!
BLESS YOU SISTER IN THE LORD🙏💐💗

It's like they invented harmony. Live band, no auto tune, no computerized voice enhancement and one mic for all three of them. Back then (1979). singing was just pure, raw talent. By the date of this recording, the BeeGees had already been singing together professionally for 21 years when Barry was 12 years old and the twins were just 9. All of the Gibb brothers including little brother, Andy, could sing in that amazing falsetto voice. But Barry was the master. He was able to exorcise more control over it. The Gibbs were, in my opinion, the most multi-talented families in music history. They wrote their own songs as well as writing songs for many other musical greats. This song was included on a compilation album to benefit UNICEF. There were many artists who recorded songs on the album, but the BeeGees gave all the royalties from this song in any form. In, at that time, an unprecedented move, they also gave UNICEF the publishing rights to Too Much Heaven. To date, Too Much Heaven has raised over 11 million dollars for UNICEF. In 1967, they wrote a song called To Love Somebody which appeared on their third album titled BeeGees 1st, but their first internationally, as the first two albums were only released in Australia. BeeGees 1st was released in July '67. Otis Redding was set to record To Love Somebody on his next album. Sadly, Otis was killed in a plane crash, Dec 10,1967. I thought for the longest time that they didn't record it themselves until after the death of Otis Redding. Their brother Andy Gibb had a very successful solo career as well until his death on March 10,1988. Just 5 days after turning 30. Andy had developed myocarditis, inflammation of the heart, which was brought on by a viral infection While most people recover from myocarditis, Andy's body was unable to fight the infection due to his history of drug use. Soo sad! The 1st time I heard this song, I was 15 years old. I was sitting on the floor in our living room. They sang with so much emotion that I had tears running down my face. It didn't hurt that before this I found out that Barry and I shared the same birthday, me in 1963 and him in 1946. While I was crying, my daddy came in and told me to knock it off or he'd change the channel. He was mean.
A lot of people believe (And I used to be one) that this song was written specifically for Otis Redding, and that the BeeGees decided to record after he died. I thought so too until I realized the dates didn't match up to that story. Otis loved the song when he heard it. He mentioned it in an interview or something. He was going to cover it. The BeeGees couldn't have decided to record it after he died. To Love Somebody was one of the songs on the BeeGees first international album called BeeGees 1st. That album was released in mid July in 1967, several months before Otis Redding was killed in a plane crash on Dec. 10

Yes. They are brothers. If you look on the charts they are in the top ten album selling performances of all time. You asked if they have other songs? Dozens. I’m sure if you ever heard of the movie Saturday night fever they had songs off that album that kept them in the charts for almost 3 years from that album alone. If you listen to jive talking, night fever, etc. you may know them.

Barry Gibb: in the middle - eldest brother - lead singer.
Robin Gibbs: right of Barry (our left) - second 'lead' singer (very powerful unique voice) - twin of Maurice.
Maurice Gibbs: left of Barry (our right) - harmony (rarely lead singer) - twin to
Robin's voice is showcased in a number of their hit songs.

Loved your reaction to "Too Much Heaven"! Perfect three part harmonies! Beautiful lead vocals by all three brothers that spanned decades. You wouldn't be disappointed reacting to any song of theirs. Please react next to a song Robin sang lead on( brother on the left). His signature song was "I Started a Joke" but his voice is just amazing and one of a kind on hundreds of Bee Gees songs as well as lots of fantastic solo performances such as "Juliet" from the 1980's. "I Can't See Nobody" is also wonderful from the late 1960's. New subscriber!

First, good luck on your channel! The Bee Gees (Brothers Gibb) truly are brothers with Barry (oldest) in the center and the twins, Robin and Maurice, on either side of him. They had a full career (and catalog) prior to the disco era with several number ones in the 60s. They had a second career take off for them because of the movie Saturday Night Fever which they provided much of the music for. You'll probably recognize some of those tunes. Yes, things were more genuine prior to auto-tune (etc).

BG did not come from brothers Gibb. When the brothers moved to Australia in 1958, they began playing on the radio with friends Bill Goode and Bill Gates. The groups name was originally The BG’s - contrived from the common initials between Barry Gibb, Bill Goode, and Bill Gates. The name then evolved from The BG’s to the Bee Gees.

Bee Gees do not have a lead singer but Barry is lead when you need the high notes as he is in most control. In fact Robin can sing higher but not with the same control.
Depending on the song either Robin or Barry sings lead and on rare occasions Maurice do as well.
A robin lead could be the song Love Me from 1976 or the old one from 1968 I Started A Joke.
There is also a newer song called Rings Around The Moon which is my favorite and also the Isle Of Man (Where they were born) "Anthem" called Ellan Vannin where Robin sounds almost godly.
Robin had a unik vibrator voice that some critics has named the best R&B voice by a white person.

    • @vtbn53
      @vtbn53 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I have to disagree, Robin had perfect control, but his voice wasn't falsetto as Barry's is here, a different sound as a result. Haven't said that Barry's falsetto is almost beyond belief.

The bee gees are a very musically diverse Pop and R&B group since 1958. They are brothers and have been singing together and writing all their own songs. They have also written hit songs for Diana Ross, Dionne Warwick, Barbara Streisand, Celine Dion, Kenny Rogers, and Dolly Parton. They were also close friends with Michael Jackson and collaborated with him on a production. Barry Gibb (the middle one) is the lead in this song. Robin Gibb--with white, untucked shirt, also sings lead on some songs. Maurice Gibb has sung lead only on a couple of songs. Their youngest brother, Andy, was too little when the bee gees hit it big, so he didn't sing as a bee gee. He had a solo career but short-lived because he died young. The Gibb brothers also collaborated with him for his recordings. Barry is the only surviving bee gee.

It's really amazing how the Bee Gees found their sound in the 70's, and then, got crushed by the end of the decade due to the Disco Rebellion. (look-up Disco, Comiskey Park, 1979) It's nice to see the future generations liking their sound. The Bee Geess and Abba were like the 70's successors of the Beatles in popular music (though NO ONE was as big as the Beatles).

Barry's singing in his falsetto range here, obviously. He also has his regular register as you'll hear on other tracks. Either way, he's exceptionally melodic.

Yes, the "TO" is nice. They are three brothers, the 2 on the sides being fraternal brothers and younger (and both have died). Bee Gees is from "(B)rothers (G)ibb." There's an even younger brother and a sister. Andy Gibb has also died. I think this is their best song.

And he could go very deep as well. Barry and his brothers Maurice and Robin the twins were THE group in the 70's and 80's. Their younger Brother Andy Gibb was also very talented, he looked like Barry. However he died very young in the late 80's.
