- One of the features of interest is the “Sky Tip”, a pyramid-like, 50m-high artificial mountain of mining waste material north of St Austell
It is a prominent land and sea mark of the town, beloved of its people and all who know the town, as an enduring memorial to all the people and the industry which won the highest grade of China clay from this place for export all over the world; since Josiah Wedgwood and John Carthew formed a Cornish clay company in 1782, after the discovery of China clay, by William Cookworthy, in 1746, at Tregonning Hill.

At 1:10 mins. The "X" shape in the water was put there as an access road of a lorry mounted drill rig in the 1980's. That was a fun job, a tractor winch proved very handy.
Love that flag, think I will go find a "Jethro" video now.
Hello from New Zealand and wishing you all the best for the new year. ❤👍
Thanks for that information Bruce, i’ve been driving past it for the last 30+ years. glad you enjoyed the video, another coming up shortly of the shenanigans that are going on with the so called Garden Village across the road that you see a glimpse off in the video lol
Had to edit my response a few times as the predicted text had changed a few words lol
I worked for that company from 1970 to 2000, great people. 12,000 employee's when I started, only 3,000 or less when I left.@@fredflintstone1024
