Did you find any good instructions for disassembling the drone to make sure its rinsed out inside?

Yesterday I crashed my mavic air into the salt water partly, as I could manage to got her flying again of the water surface . I dont know how much water she took inside. I have her back on the boat now and wondering what do do. She starts all functions are ok only the front sensors need calibration and the unfortuenatly the gimbal does not work anymore. So shall I try to take her apart and wash her completly as you did or just the gimbal? Please reply quick as I belive the salt will start to corrode everything. I am living on a catamaran, so there is a lot of moisture arround which is even worse for the corrosion with salt. (By the way, are you Austrians, as me?)

      Matthias

Hello, thanks for the video. My drone drinks some salty water 😄. I dry it few days and it works again however I still have a warning of forward and backward sensors vision errors.
Do you have any suggestion please?

My Mini 2 fell into a pond 2 meters deep for 30 minutes. Then I dived into the water and found it. I let the drone dry for 4 days, but it didn't work out. Now I just send it back to DJI to repair.

Watched your video after a swimming pool unintentional landing and left my Mavic Pro in rice for 3 days. Took it out today and everything connected back up and she was flying and taking pictures and videos. Thanks so much for posting your experience. Mine was not salt water so after watching your example I thought maybe it would work for me. Thanks again.

So I had my drone fall in the ocean and when I got it, I immediately took out the battery. I only tried shaking out the water from the drone and let it air dry for a couple of days. When I insert a battery, a green light automatically comes on without me powering up the drone. I feel like maybe I should do an alcohol bath? It’s been about a month since I’ve attempted to do anything. Any recommendations?

Great video. Fortunately it never happened to my drone. On the other hand, more then once my phones fell in the water, so here goes me two cents:
    - turn off and take the battery, if possible.
-wash it thoroughly with fresh water or, if you can, with demineralized water (that's the best option, in my opinion) . Some people use eter instead and it may even be better, but some components may not like, so...
-dry it with an hair dryer, but be aware of not overheating it (if your hand can't stand the heat, it's to hot for the electronics too).
    - put it on rice for a few days (2 the least, but the more, the better). Using a dehumidifier can also do the trick...
Regarding the batteries, after doing the same procedures, charge them fully before using them.
    Hope to have helped. :-)

My mavic air dropped in the beach this morning. I dried it already and didn’t rinse it with fresh water. Is it too late to rinse it with fresh water now then dry again then dry with rice?

    • @bugsandbears
      @bugsandbears  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Hi Kaye! Sorry for you 😬! Most important, remove the battery and don't try to turn the drone back on. The reason we decided to rinse it again with fresh water (even after it was dry already) is that the salt particles can destroy your drone's electronics in the long run. So to make sure that this doesn't happen, we rinsed it again with fresh water and dried it in rice afterwards. Wish you good luck and hope it works for you as well. Yesterday I lost my mavic air in a lake. Never flying over water again 🙂

U still can bypass the auto landing by pushing the drone up and steer to safety. Mavic Air still can fly on 0% battery for 1 minute time. I been in your situation when i flew my Mavic Air 3.3km into the sea. and on the way back i got a very2 strong intefereance plus strong wind. But still manage to land safely with a 0% battery.

Wow, I am even surprised it is safe to rinse in regular water. Yep I was going to say rice lol. I save 2 cellphones with rice. You definitely know your way around electronics. So glad it came back to life.

We didn't know it was safe, it was just our only option at that point. Some people also recommend a special kind of alcohol (instead of water) to be on the safe side. We were super lucky - didn't have much hope left!

      *DON'T MAKE MY MISTAKE*
      MAGIC PRO PLATINUM £1500
DJI said they would fix mine free. We only used it once. It landed in the sea. I live in Cyprus, l am from UK.
Sent it to them: €50. They would not acknowledge receipt 6 weeks later until l found tracking number, which l lost.
*They sent me a bill for €890 ... l could have just bought new one and saved all that time and trouble*

Sorry but even if you did:
We dived in and got it after 5 seconds in sea water!
