  • Today Luke is reviewing a stove which could easily be used for any purpose including camping, overland, survival, prepping and more.
    This is the Agenda Free Review of the Camplux Dual Fuel Camping Stove;
    Propane and Butane!

    Camplux Dual Fuel Camping Stove :
    Agenda Free Link : www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07...
    Colors : Blue and Black
    Price : Blue is $35 and Black is $37 at the time of filming
    Weight in Case : Right at 5lbs
    Stove alone is around 3.5lbs
    BTU’s : 7,200BTU
    Measurement : 13 x 11.2x 3.14 inch
    Fuels : 8 oz and 16 oz propane or 8.8oz butane cans.
    Who Makes These : My suspicions is that there is one company who makes this stove for everyone else as there are countless companies who make models which look exactly the same.
    Pros :
    Runs on two types of fuel.
    Does exactly what I have wanted it to do; turn on when I want it to and turn off when I want it to while being able to heat, boil and cook.
    Price isn’t bad -but there are less expensive versions of this stove available; I can’t comment on the quality of those models but I may check one out in the future.
    Easy to use
    Small form factor
    Great for camping, overlanding and even emergency use.
    Very efficient - one can of butane lasted me almost 2 hours with a variety of cooking and boiling projects.
    Good size burner allows for virtually any size pot or pan to be used.
    Excellent output; I’ve never had an issue with boiling water for coffee quickly or with cooking a full fledged meal.
    Ignition has always worked.
    Cons :
    Flimsy feelings and that goes for the stove and the carry case.
    Gas connection area features a door which feels very cheap and never is fully latched shut.
    While you can adjust the intensity of the burner, there is a rather large zone where you should be able to simmer but rather, the burner simply goes out.
    The company claims that this stove has excellent wind resistance; that isn’t accurate in my opinion. If it is a windy day, I would suggest setting up some sort of wind block.
    This product like many products on Amazon features a lot of fake reviews; according to review analytic sites, roughly 60% of the reviews are fake for this product which is obvious when reading them.
    Summary :
    Ultimately if you purchase this stove, this is what you are getting;
    - a dual fuel stove for a low price
    - a cheap flimsy build
    - functional stove.
    For the $35 that I spent, I consider it an excellent buy...if I paid any more the fit and finish of this stove would justify a refund but for $35, it’s just good enough. I purchased this in January and have used it dozens of times in all sorts of conditions; in the rain, in the snow and in very hot conditions. Never had a problem.
    It should be known that there are more powerful versions of this stove out there; for an example, Gas One has a 15,000 BTU version of this stove which costs $60.

    I have had 2 of these stoves stoves for years used exclusively when off roading in a Jeep, so it gets bounced around a lot and never had a problem. One thing you failed to mention is lighting the stove in the morning with butane for coffee when the temperature is below 32 degrees. You best have a bottle of propane with you because the butane won’t light below freezing.

    @TheOutdoorGearReview there is one more safety warning that was not mentioned. These stoves are to only have a 8 or 10 inch pot or pan area due to the fuel canister compartment area can over heat the butane or propane hose and cause a safety issue of explosion. What happens is that a larger cooking pot or pan will cover the fuel compartment and cause a tremendous heat build up. Great review as usual and thank you for your great content.

    I love that you tested this for over a year before posting a review. Cheesy? Yes, a bit. But! Only $35.00 and proven to still work well after used for over a year. Great review!

    For $35 and a dual fuel, that's a win in my book. If it were damaged, or somehow left behind, it wouldn't hurt too bad. Thanks for the review Luke!

      I'd be wary of using this as a power outage cooking option. It's not marked as being indoor safe, so unless you're willing and able to go outside to cook, it might be better to look at something else.

    I've used this stove for several decades for presentations as Chef. It works great, but can get fairly hot. But the great benefit is it's portability, easy set up and efficient use of propane. On a scale of 10 I give it a 8.

    Don't use a pan that is to big for this (I think that they recommend no bigger than a 10 in pan) You don't want a pan that is too big hanging over the fuel cannister and heating it up!

    • @zedorda1337
      @zedorda1337 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      As i see your point I don't think it would radiate enough to heat the the metal shield and then radiate again enough heat to have anything happen. Since heat rises just the simple flow of air should be more than adequate to cool the metal shield since it has such low mass.

    • @retiredatforty
      @retiredatforty 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agree. This is a known limitation of these stoves. It’s called out in the instruction manual as well. There are videos online of these stoves exploding from that very problem. But I stress to say they are quite safe with a smaller pot/pan.

    These stoves came in handy during the recent power outage. I bought both the blue and black stoves. I sometimes make pancakes on a griddle and use both stoves simultaneously to do pancakes and bacon. The case for the black stove has already fallen apart, literally in pieces. The latches on the blue case barely keep the case closed. I found an old gym bag up in my attic and now both stoves are stored in it and are protected by pieces of one of the blue closed cell foam I cut to fit them. The stoves work very well and literally light instantly when I activate the piezo switch. A case of fuel was very inexpensive at Amazon and there's probably enough to last for several camping trips. I love these stoves and having a hot cup of coffee during the power outage was satisfying. Great review, Luke!

  • @hypo345

    May seem a bit flimsy but I have never seen a broken one.
    When I first took my Family camping we used two of these and they worked flawlessly.
    In the loft for emergency use now. The big plus of these is (a) they are cheap as chips(fries USA) (b) the fuel is also very cheap/ cheap depending on the mix and in the UK/EU the Butane gas canister is available just about everywhere.

    For $20, you can buy a Butane only stove. But, for those of us in the North, Butane will NOT evaporate in the winter. So, having the Propane option is great for cold weather use.

    I have the exact same one by it says shinestar 7,200 BTU I purchased on Amazon for 29.00 it will run on the large propane tanks, the only thing you must remove the regulator off of the line for the large tanks because the pressure is to low for the stove. I just use the regulator that is already on the stove. I have used this stove for pressure canning vegetables from the garden.

    I used to have one and for safety reasons I always use propane canister. There are many sad cases of butane canister explosion, either due to long continuous use or over-sized pan that "spread" the flame too close to the canister compartment. Mine eventually gave up the ghost after 3 or 4 years of occasional use because my friend accidentally stepped on it the second time. First time the sheet metal was badly mangled but I managed to pry it back, no such luck the second time round though. So yeah, it is flimsy, but still has some basic strength.

    I have a Coleman stove like this that only runs on butane. It serves me well, and works great.

    I have had one for a while now. I like it. There is one danger. It seems to be difficult to get the butane can to line up and seat into place. While doing so butane can squirt all over the place. Don't hit the starter until that liquid butane has had a chance to evaporate away. A huge fire ball will result. Ask me how I know that.

    If you knew how many times over the year's my family has laughed about some poorly made camping equipment that still works, and this one would be another to add to the camping equipment. The beauty of it is if it works for a year or two or ten years, either way your not to bothered by it because you only paid 35 bucks! Sometimes cheap isn't all bad! Thanks for the review!

    The version of this sold in the UK is incapable of using the external propane internal butane only, would only use as a picnic stove, would not use it for backpacking as it is on the bulky side

    I had the butane only, had no problem...then I saw you use one with propane and realized that there was a dual fuel option. Great little stove, plan on passing the butane stove on and keeping the dual fuel one under my front passenger seat

    I think its a good deal for $35. I remember growing up, we had one of the old Coleman cookstoves, where you put the coleman fuel into the tank in front of the stove and then you had to pump it to get the pressure built up before you could light the stove. Was heavy and bulky and took up a lot of room compared to the new stoves today.

    I recently bought a gasone butane stove. The size/weight of these types of stoves are great if your camping with just one or two other people.

    I have 2 different versions of this stove. A duel fuel plus a single (butane) which has a hot plate. I use the case as a windshield.

    Ill stick with my msr xgk, but for someone just weekending or getting into it its not a bad first buy till you figure out what your wanting. If your going to be doing more serious stuff even car camping then a better build dual burner is the way to go, i just prefer liquid fuel as high elevation and cold weather can be problematic for compressed gas. My wants/needs are likely different than yours so pick what works for you

    Main body build, carrying case of Gas one is exactly the same as yours. The only difference is, the fire outcome is much stronger, with more holes. I always use it with the regulator in the half position. There are better looking stoves in the market, but none are dual fuel. I chose this on because propane is cheap

    These little butane stoves are pretty efficient as long as they don't get too cold. The below freezing point is where having that propane capability will pay off as butane tends to not want to vaporize below 32f where propane doesn't have that problem. That's why I like those little Isobutane canisters because the addition of a propane in the blend helps push the vapor temp down allowing it to work at lower temps.

    They are great as emergency cookers and car camping i have used them for years and the only issue is not the cooker but the butane canisters in cold to freezing conditions just need to get them warm before cooking i would put it in my jacket inside pocket 30 minutes before needing to cook and it works

      there are versions of this stove that has an additional metal sheet conducting part of combustion heat to the butane canister for vaporization
      otherwise liquid fuel stove with pump works better for cold weather usage

    I have not seen the dual fuel version. It seems like a good idea. I have been using the butane only versions for years. The cases always break and I have had a couple of them develop leaks but they are very effective as a cooker. They are stable, with good flame controllability and an effective flame pattern but, apart from the flimsyness, are not the cheapest to run. They can be found for £10 in Britain, so overall, I agree, worth having as a car/boat/camping trailer stove. Good review.

    Coleman has their own version of this for the same price, but butane only. I like this one as it comes with the propane adapter hose.
