Twilight Princess is the best game in the series. I've played it so many times, the music, story, and gameplay are all near perfect. And even though it has the most temples in the series, it also has the best ones.
Wind waker easily one of the all time greats. Anyone who skipped it for being too "kiddy" did themselves a tremendous disservice. And honestly, it's a pretty dark game for being "kiddy", especially the ending.
Windwaker was amazing. I absolutely hate twilight. It’s the only Zelda I bought day one, as I do all zeldas, and never beat. It’s a completely broken game in my opinion. The game design is so all-over-the-place that it’s basically impossible not to get to the first dungeon with more money than you can carry or spend. Therefore all the risk/reward challenges and treasure boxes are meaningless. What pint is more rupees when there is nothing to buy? And why buy anything when the game isn’t challenging anyways?
@@JazGalaxy You didn't finish the game... and are complaining that you couldn't find a use for your money. I wonder why? I am all for criticism, but you literally don't know what a "completely broken game" is simply having extra in-game money is game-breaking. All your points boil down to "too much money" and a stray "not hard enough" with no real explanations. Did you even play the game for the adventure? 1) the monetary rewards don't matter a lot, that is why zelda games don't usually require a heavy use of money. The real rewards are the pieces of hearts and the friends we made during the journey 2) then make the game difficult for yourself, don't get heart containers or pieces of hearts, don't carry fairies. Heck, keep doing all those and just use bombs. The "not a challenge" complaint never makes sense because it is just people complaining that they weren't FORCED to play a harder way, not that they can make it harder for themselves.

I never had a Wii U so I'm praying they'll release the HD versions of Twilight Princess and Wind Waker on the Switch. They're so beautiful and I'd love to revisit those games again in HD
There will never be another Zelda game with the same art style and aesthetic like Twilight Princess, and that makes this game standout among all the very similar cartoony-looking Zelda games. It also makes me sad that there was no sequel 😞
the dark fantasy aesthetic and tone is unmatched and will remain like that since it came just in the right time when that was kind of a trend in music, art and even videogames (2006-2009). Such a unique game
i feel like these days twilight princess gets too much hate for just not having colorful stylized graphics and thus "aging badly" compared to wind waker, imo i think this game has the best tone and atmosphere in the series and the art style is perfect for it
@@Jdudec367 Right, I forgot too mention that Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask have a similar art style to Twilight Princess, only differences is that Twilight Princess has a more darker/de-saturated color palette as well slightly realistic art style despite some characters having exaggerated designs like cartoon characters. Either way, TP still stands out because nearly every Zelda nowadays tries to emulate Wind Waker's art style to certain degree, and they all start blending together even if the designs don't look exactly like Wind Waker. They all have that typical Nintendo-branded look too them that's way too common.
@@doclouis4236 Eh...their art style wasn't western like though. Not really, Wind Waker looks very different compared to Skyward Sword which looks more like a painting then a cel shaded cartoon and Breath of the wild looks pretty different compared to Wind Waker too, they don't all blend together. They don't have a "typical Nintendo-branded look" that's way too common.
This really makes it sound like Twilight Princess was them selling out. Focusing more on what people wanted at the time which was more ocarina of time and not wind waker. Not that it matters since they're both good games. It'll always be interesting how the perception changed with these games.
lulz. sold out :( ya i guess it was but at the same time they cared about other fans outside japan... that is cool nintendo did that. imho. just making a game solely for western fans. ya both WW and TP are excellent additions to the Zelda library.
I do like Twilight Princess, Ocarina was the first game I technically played but I don't think I ever completed it until after TP which really cemented my love for Zelda.
Holy shit! I remember reading that article at 1:04 and getting super excited and telling my dad, who disliked the cutesy art style of wind waker. We were both super pumped but then found out it was an April fool's joke. This is bringing back some seriously ancient memories. Thanks for that haha 😆
TP gets too much flack. It has so many dungeons unlike WW and they're all great. The atmosphere is one of the best in the series and Midna is actually an interesting character.
@@ktwenter77 I agree. I loved Wind Waker back then when it first came out. I was a kid, & I thought it was best game ever. Then I revisit the game years ago, & while I still think it holds well with its art style & gameplay combat, I’ll be honest, most of the dungeons aren’t that good, & the 2nd half of the game kinda goes a bit downhill since there isn’t much story going on. Also, the Triforce Quest hunt sucks, I really hated it! The HD Version improved on the Triforce Quest, & it’s fine. The 2nd half of the game doesn’t get that interesting until the endgame, which absolutely rocks. Exploring the Great Sea was cool at first, but it gets a bit tiresome overtime. Also, the overworld is pretty empty & not much to do. But it’s still better than Skyward Sword’s overworld, which is even worse. I still like & respect Wind Waker, & I think it’s still a good game overall, but it’s not as good as previous 3D Zelda games, & it’s certainly not as good as Twilight Princess in my opinion. I’ll be honest, I enjoyed Skyward Sword more. Yeah, Skyward Sword has some huge flaws that can’t be overlooked, but the things I enjoyed are more positives than the things in Wind Waker, which is why Wind Waker is probably now my least favorite 3D Zelda game, but I still like it due to the nostalgia factor.

Why would it reference his wolf form? That doesn't really make a whole lot of sense. Twilight princess makes way more sense, since that is what the whole main plot is about.
@@merlith4650 the wolf form thing make no sense to me. It was so random. If there was some sort of running theme in the games that link was associated with wolves, it would make sense. But it just made the “gimmick” of the game seem even more gimmicky.
@@JazGalaxy It's possible there's more to the lore than Nintendo has told us. They've explained how Ganon is a manifestation of Demise, and Zelda of Hylia, perhaps they will next explain who Link is a manifestation of and would explain why he's a wolf in TP, possibly why also a bunny in ALttP.
If you put the wii version of Twilight Princess in upside down you can play a full version of Shaq Fu complete with motion controls. It also contains the 1975 Barry Manilow album "Tryin' to get the Feeling" if you put it in a HiFi. As a result of the latter, the game was banned in Andorra.

Twilight Princess is the best game in the series. I've played it so many times, the music, story, and gameplay are all near perfect. And even though it has the most temples in the series, it also has the best ones.
I agree. Also, the more temples the better, in my opinion.
I expected to hate Wind Waker, and it’s one of my favorites now. Same for Twilight. The music is INCREDIBLE, the art is gorgeous
The real rewards are the pieces of hearts and the friends we made during the journey
2) then make the game difficult for yourself, don't get heart containers or pieces of hearts, don't carry fairies. Heck, keep doing all those and just use bombs. The "not a challenge" complaint never makes sense because it is just people complaining that they weren't FORCED to play a harder way, not that they can make it harder for themselves.
@@UnexpectedDanger that was me. I skipped it. I regret having done so
@@JazGalaxy that’s a pretty lazy complaint if you didn’t even finish the game

It's hilarious how downbad Aonuma is for Telma.

@@KirbyBandicoot I reported them. Hopefully other people do the same.
Maybe a little underrated opinion but Twilight Princess is my favorite Zelda game
Same for me.
Not only my fav Zelda game but my fav game of all time!
Best Zelda game in my opinion.
Man, what a game Twilight Princess is. I hope they continue doing more OoT and TP type of Zelda games.
You mean A LInk To The Past.
OOT, TP, ALBW are brothers or descendants of ALTTP.
Twilight Princess was my all time favorite other than OOT.
I remember begging for it for christmas.
2:30 I actually have the E3 2005 Club Nintendo magazine. Although I'm not fluent on my Spanish, but glad to know on some info I couldn't translate.
First was Gamexplain, then Nintendo Life, and now DidYouKnowGaming? Probably just one time collab, but it is funny that this was uploaded a day after Jon leaving Nintendo Life.

Jon is at GoodVibesGamining with a bunch of former GX members
@@mr_manhunter I haven't watched GVG in a while. I guess he just going from channel to channel.
@@Uhhhhh1188 You should watch the stream they put on last night, they explain the whole thing. But essentially, the plan was for Jon to be at GVG with everyone else at launch but that wasn't financially viable so he went to Nintendolife instead
@@mr_manhunter That explains a lot.
I really wish they'd do a Switch HD release of Twilight Princess akin to Skyward Sword, as TP is one of my favourites from the whole series.
Alongside Wind Waker
Fun fact: If you bring up wanting Nintendo to make a Switch port of Twilight Princess HD on Twitter your post is likely going to rise in likes.
for 60 dolars oh yes

It would definitely be cool to do someday but I think they should give some other Zelda games a HD remake before tp gets its second go at one

Leaving GameXPlain is likely a break for him. His departure and Andre's real personality ruined that channel for me.
@@DakotaSagePika so true, I honestly can't watch GX in good faith anymore. Shame the controversy got brushed up - countless issues still weren't addressed. More people need to know about what happened tbh

Lmaooooo 🤣 you weren’t kidding
Ah, Twilight Princess, one of my favorites and I even own the deluxe Figma Link figure.
I had no idea TP was basically the “Fire Emblem Awakening” of Zelda. It’s honestly scary that the series could’ve just ended in 2006. Thankfully, after BotW’s huge success, I don’t think we’ll have to worry about that for a while!
5:45 "So Wolf Link wouldn't be so boring to look at from behind"

So many memories, this is still one of my favorite Zelda games.
Never finished my wii run of TP, a lot of my dad's stuff had beed stolen including our wii and games. I bought a gamecube copy a few years ago, and only yestarday completed it for the first time. The timing of this video could not have been more perfect for me.
I never had a Wii U so I'm praying they'll release the HD versions of Twilight Princess and Wind Waker on the Switch. They're so beautiful and I'd love to revisit those games again in HD

Aonuma having a thing for Telma... My man
Shoutout to all the kids who played Twilight Princess on the GameCube growing up
I did, and my idiot dad gave me the wrong version strategy guide.
Jon feels like such a natural fit for DYKG videos, haha. Good stuff!
There will never be another Zelda game with the same art style and aesthetic like Twilight Princess, and that makes this game standout among all the very similar cartoony-looking Zelda games.
It also makes me sad that there was no sequel 😞
eh...the other zelda games don't really look similiar to each other.
Also...Twilight Princess was kind of a sequel to Ocarina of time actually.
the dark fantasy aesthetic and tone is unmatched and will remain like that since it came just in the right time when that was kind of a trend in music, art and even videogames (2006-2009).
The most important bit of info I learned from this is episode is that Aonuma is a bottom.

Aonuma is a man of culture.
This really makes it sound like Twilight Princess was them selling out. Focusing more on what people wanted at the time which was more ocarina of time and not wind waker.
Not that it matters since they're both good games. It'll always be interesting how the perception changed with these games.
lulz. sold out :(
ya i guess it was but at the same time they cared about other fans outside japan...
that is cool nintendo did that. imho. just making a game solely for western fans.
ya both WW and TP are excellent additions to the Zelda library.
I do like Twilight Princess, Ocarina was the first game I technically played but I don't think I ever completed it until after TP which really cemented my love for Zelda.
If they added Online play to BoTW 2 so that two people could explore it together that would be insanely amazing !
So happy to see new videos again. Particularly excited about the new hour longs.
2:19 They made crowd control before twitch even existed. Nintendo was truly ahead of their times
How the mighty had fallen.
Holy shit! I remember reading that article at 1:04 and getting super excited and telling my dad, who disliked the cutesy art style of wind waker. We were both super pumped but then found out it was an April fool's joke. This is bringing back some seriously ancient memories. Thanks for that haha 😆
love this game!!! It's always cool to learn more about my favorite series!!!
I want nothing more than a Zelda game like Twilight Princess again.
OH SHIT, THEY CHANGED THE THUMBNAIL HAHAHAHAH
It's really good to hear Jon's voice again.
3:58 i never knew Majora's Mask sold so low. damn. no wonder ive seen it referred to as a cult classic before.
The game is also heavily rushed and requires an expansion pack, another reason why it sold very poorly.
I never realized it until now, but BotW's bow and arrow mechanic is basically Link's Crossbow Training, and I think that's why it feels so good.
Twilight Princess is a fantastic Zelda game. Its mark on the series will be felt for decades.
The GOAT of the zelda series honestly.
The ordon goat
TP gets too much flack. It has so many dungeons unlike WW and they're all great. The atmosphere is one of the best in the series and Midna is actually an interesting character.
When did it get flack? Last time I checked all sorts of critics praised it. Guess I've had my nose buried in gaming mags for too long.
@@Benjamillion i hear it all the time from the more hardcore Zelda fan crowd.
I think WW is overrated
The dungeons are amazing in Twilight Princess. But the dungeons in Wind Waker are mid.
I didn't know that Twilight Princess box was a limited run and worth that much... I remember buying it at Target right after I started working there in 2006, and still have it stored away in my basement. Good to know!
Such a good game. Still hoping for a switch port
Without the Wii U Stamps bullsh*t please.
@@saricubra2867 Exactly! I hope it’s not a problem to go back and remove those dumb stamps, honestly ruined my experience playing the HD version 🤦🏻♂️

@@superflyingpig8617Just stick with the Gamecube original due to way superior exploration (no Mii verse stamps). And running it on Dolphin is the definitive way to play the game.
Speaking of Telma, Tifa is my favorite video game character probably for some of the same reasons Aonuma likes Telma.
I've always found it weird that the name of this game didn't reference Link's wolf transformation. Maybe they just liked this title a lot?
The title is about Midna and the Twili.
@@RhythmGrizz It's funny how in Hyrule Warriors (OG) there's a quest that asks you identify who the Twilight Princess is, between Midna and Zelda. Their correct answer was Zelda, which struck me as odd as Midna is a princess of the Twilight Realm, and that Midna was sarcastic when she called Zelda "Twilight Princess."
6:41 not only were they enthusiastic, but their enthusiasm became a meme that’s still used to this day.
Aonuma is a man of taste
"The bonus disk is a game where you get to be Telma's shoe."
My absolute favorite of all the Links. PLUS the Hero of Time returns!
Twilight Princess is far from my favorite Zelda game, but it's still great.
Strangely enough, I take it over Breath of the Wild.
Blasphemy.
I would love to play as an older version of Link. Maybe even one with a beard
as much as I love this channel, it seens it only talks about nintendo with a huge focus on pokemon, zelda, mario, metroid and the gamecube for some reason, it would be nice to see other fun little known facts from other platforms, games and franchises too.
