I made this video to answer a few of the most-asked questions on my other videos. I hope you find it helpful! Let me know in the comments if you have any other questions or future lesson requests :)
Can you make video about how John Mayer plays his songs because i see that he knows a lot about scales and always have some new chords shapes that i never seen
So many youtube channels that try to teach guitar just go from "Here are 8 open chords" to "So now that you know everything let me flex and assume you understand" You're filling in so many gaps for me and I can't thank you enough.
Writing after a few months of practice. Truly grateful to you for getting me out of the darkness of googling for chords over the last decade. Thank you❤
I replied to you ther if you look at ghe last 2 comments, but it responded, reply to me @telegra",so that was dodgy it wasnt your normal reply address, let men know pls
OMG! You are a guitar genius. Learn guitar could not be easier with your clear and logic roadmap method. Please make a video about the licks linking the chords together. Again, thank you so very much. Whenever I see your video, first thing I do is to Click LIKE without seeing it yet bc I already know it’s another excellent lesson.
I've played piano for a few years and guitar for a couple of months, and have heard a lot of people talk about the moment when their knowledge of music theory was finally applied to their guitar learning. This video was that moment for me! Now I feel that the thing holding me back from being a better guitar player is my finger dexterity, and I can work on that. Thank you Andrew!
After 30-plus years of playing, tinkering, and messing around with guitar, this video made it all click. The fretboard has been unlocked for me. I have watched countless videos, studied theory, and run through hundreds of tabs. For the first time, I know what I am doing and it all makes sense. Thank you, Andrew, you have changed my guitar-playing life. I just got done playing several songs by ear using your teaching and it worked. The future has never looked brighter and my dreams of playing live just for fun in local bars with others is no longer just a pipe dream. Here's to your success and knowing you are well on your way to millions of subs.
Yesss, make a video with riffs linked to chords please, I'd love to learn about that! Your lessons really are the most useful I've come across, I feel like I've found a treasure chest. :)
to echo a comment posted earlier - "how did I not see that before?" :) i knew the numbers of chords and how they related to maj/minor but it had never twigged that they can be played from the first 6 notes of the E string major scale. I thought you had to be able to calculate the note names from the root each time..... when in fact it's just another guitar shape. this is why these lessons are so good, just fitting together the pieces of the jigsaw that have been missing in my head for 20 years!
I'm a brand new subscriber. Dude, I used to watch a LOT of guitar tutorial vids. Your videos stand out from the rest because your explanations are CLEAR, your graphics are easy to follow and MOST importantly-- you do not assume your student knows more than he/she does! I'm an intermediate player and a major turn-off for me is when a teacher promises a "simple" lesson and goes into the stratosphere of musical theory along with unclear finger positions, complex explanations, crappy graphics, or none at all. THANK YOU for making these excellent vids!
I needed this badly. Just learned all the essential theory thanks to you after delaying learning it for years. Every time i tried learning theory, noone could ever explain it this well, thank you
WOW! This is the best video for explaining to a dummy (me) how to play these chords. l had always wondered why these guitar players play the chords they play and here it is. THANK YOU and keep up the great teaching.....👏👏👏👏
Probably the best *practical* video on explaining chords and how to form them based off the key and fretboard positioning. Doesn't have too much theory but the theory videos never stick without practical examples, so this video takes the cake.
This is guy is one of the best guitar teachers on the interweb. He explains everything in an understandable, low key (no pun intended) way. Glad that I stumbled onto him.
i cant help but leave another comment because you are genuinely opening up the fretboard for me in ways i thought would take years.... just in a couple of short videos. You have taught me in 30 minutes so much more than i have learned in years being self taught. All these other youtubers just tell me WHAT i should learn, but they never implement it or show how it relates to everything on the fretboard. They try to push a course to get all the good info, but you give the good stuff up front. When I have the means I will definitely be looking to support the channel. Thank you so much
This is really great teaching...things I have never understood but heard and watched before were lost until now....appreciate it as a beginner at an older age!
hi , i wanted to say thank you again for your help in theses videos. I wrote a song for my niece and now i am putting guitar chords to it in key of g, now i am trying to sing in key, i am working on that. I hope others will use your knowledge and succeed like did. thank you
Roadmap 2...how did I not see that before? Apart from that, I agree with some others here, your videos are seriously the best lessons on YT. It's insane how useful and concise they are.
I can't be more thankful for these videos, I'm finally learning and I can't be happier! Your teaching style is so easy to understand. Cheers from Chile.
You're probably better than my offline teacher. Now guitar seems very simple than before. Hope beginners find your videos before wasting years 🤝 Thank you "Guru" (Sanskrit term) 🙏
Mind fully blown.....sweet Jesus_i have searched for something like this for years, and you just fed me without stress 😬 GOD BLESS YOU FOR THIS MAN WELLDONE!
Great video again. All makes sense just need to practice to get it in my head and under my fingers. You make sound it straight forward and uncomplicated. Thank you. 👍
Another killer video mate! I’ll forever be in ur debt. And highly recommend ur channel to anyone learning guitar. Thank you. You mentioned another video regarding chord to licks - YES PLEASE
Yes!! Linking chords to licks please! Been stuck at the basic strumming chord stage for ages and just can't seem to jazz it up with solos or licks without it sounding jarring and losing my place.
Great lesson, Andrew 👍❤️ You packed in a lot in this lesson including how to use the Capo, which is great for beginners. Would love to see a lesson how to connect licks or arpeggios in a chord progression. Thanks 🙏🏼
I have played for around a year now, but only from youtube tutorials and tabs. These videos are amazing cause i haven't learnt any music theory before by i'm amazed by what people can play by ear and i really want to work towards that (although i am still a beginner). I hope you keep making these videos and i am sure you will grow cause more people needs to know this. PS Do you have any recommendations for a first electric guitar? I have only played acoustic but i kind of want to buy a electric guitar in the near future
I'm glad you're enjoying the videos. I definitely plan to continue making them :) As for an electric guitar recommendation, I personally like the Squier Classic Vibe series. A Yamaha Pacifica is a great choice too. I wouldn't go too much cheaper than those if you can help it. And obviously, if you want to spend more, then you'll have even more great options!
Hi Andrew, thank you for this entire Playlist - You are a great teacher! I would love to learn how to link chords together with little licks (Jimi Hendrix/John Mayer Style) - I think a video teaching that would rule!
Thank you! I'm glad you like the videos. I have a lesson that covers some of what you suggested! Check it out: th-cam.com/video/-DRhGmMhzu0/w-d-xo.html
Good video, clear as always. I would like you to teach some more complicated stuff like key changes, 7th chords and jazz chord progressions(chromatic).
