  • Seven Buddhist mountain temples in South Korea will be added to UNESCO's list of world heritage sites.
One of them, known for it's calligraphy, is the country's only surviving wooden pagoda.

Someday, when I go to visit South Korea 🇰🇷 I want to go to the Buddhist Temples and not the Christian churches, because Buddhism is the ancient heritage of Korea that helped cultivate the people and the Korean villages, but the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910) did not show support for Buddhism and the religion did not become a political system in the government. I am glad the South Koreans are supporting Buddhism and I want Buddhism to remain as a cultural heritage of Korea, just like China, Taiwan and Japan, long live the Buddha.

Buddhism had persecuted during joseon dynasty because joseon's rulers are biased to confucionism. 儒敎. Corruption and abuse of buddhism superiority went too far at that time so for society cleansing they had persecuted buddhism. As a result temples are ousted to place like mountain or hill. That made lots of temples belonged to nature.

Lol neither Nepal nor India was a country back then. Nation-state is a 17th century phenomenon. He was born in the shakya republic. Buddhism almost vanished from both of the countries so we are thankful to Countries like Myanmar and Srilanka for preserving it in purest form.
I bet none of you follow his teachings but want to fight over his birthplace and all. His teachings are for everyone which includes beings from 10000 world systems. Don't reduce him to your tiny countries who didn't respect his teachings.

I grew up in a Christian home but I’ve always loved visiting Buddhist temples and I am not the only non-buddhist who likes visiting these temples and I can confidently say that most Koreans, whether they are christians or atheists, like visiting buddhist temples. I love the peaceful atmosphere, the sound of wind-bells chiming and monks chanting while birds chirping on the trees, the smell of incense and the forest, magnificent traditional wooden buildings with stone towers, bronze bell, and statutes of Buddha - when you see all these lying harmoniously in the middle of the mountains, you can’t help but marvel everything you sense in that moment. Visiting Buddhist temples heals you, brings peace to your mind, and makes you feel humble. I recommend that you visit some of these temples when you come to Korea.

Many of the most beautiful works of man have been inspired by religion, or at least by dedication to the thought of a 'higher power'. I agree as well that the conclusions of religions are largely incorrect, however, some works created by the devotion to them are a beautiful, wonderful example of what humankind is capable of. I would give this site a UNESCO listing, just as I would the Large Hadron Collider at CERN.
