I loved it. As an older person I was not sure I would like it, but it was brilliant. Close-ups, second screen, modern setting and interpretation all worked alongside the incredible voices.
At first I was asking myself Wtf with this stage but it's brilliantly used . And I'm not the one to like contemporary design for opera. She has a beautiful voice it was amazing .
Just saw this in my local cinema, I really enjoyed it tbh, ok at first I thought it was like watching Maria La Del Barrio/Narcos with Lucia playing loudly in the background but I grew to like it more and more as it was so different, the set was awesome imo and well thought out. As I saw it on screen, the interval was good and you could see the behind the scenes with the bald fella with gold chain being very entertaining and chatting to the the members and production, really interesting. The film insert parts was very different, first time I have seen that tbh but I only found it slightly annoying with the cameraman doing close ups on stage but it made the whole thing with the split screen and close ups, so it didn’t bother me that much afterwards as I got use to it. The singin was tremendous, Nadine was lovely, beautiful voice, Javier blew my socks off - Tombe degli avi miei - I had a few tears there, Artur was awesome too, whole cast just fab! 👏👏👍 Big thumbs up, thank you for a fantastic evening, I am +5hrs EDT. 👍👍🥂
I no longer go to the Met (aka "Sony Upper West Side") This is not the creator's concept of "Lucia". The Met Museum of Art does not find it necessary to alter the paintings in any way and the place is always packed. Why does the Met Opera alter the operas as the audience continues to dwindle?
I hate all these contemporary sets. Operas at the Met should be shown with scenery as imagined by the time of the composer’s writing the music. Save modern sets for new modern operas. Getting to the point of not going to HD cinemas showings which I used to love.
Would love some solid chest in the bottom, which would be reminiscent of old school bel canto singers in this role, but I agree, she is an asset by all comparisons today.

When will we stop subjecting fine singers to this sort of directorial "concept" nonsense? All done in the name, usually, of making things more "relevant" and "appealing to new audiences". Never actually does anything of the sort. Plus, once we get a production of a rep piece like this, we're now stuck with it for years. Even if I could be enticed to see it once, I sure don't want to go back to see this show with different casts in upcoming seasons. Phooey.
I saw it in person and it was just as disappointing and underwhelming. Great cast, but they took all the beauty and magic in Lucia and just sucked it out

I just saw it in Astor Cinema in Hamburg. It was gorgeous!! I enjoyed every minute! What a performance! Bravo!

I am very disappointed to see a show as incredible as Lucia reduced to this lack-luster and embarrassing staging.
