The contents of this video has very important information that may influence your concert and music photography career. Most videos you watch are about how to get a media pass or camera gear. While that may seem important it's just the tip of the iceberg.

I try not to mingle too much with those people ( music staff, reception, the band themselves, etc) and only keep it to a friendly but professional attitude. Most of the time I just go through their tentative/schedule and do my own thing after that.

Keeping things professional is a must. Artist, management and venues all have e job to do and staying out of their way is a big deal. You can build close relationships but watch what you are doing and be respectful. The circle of the industry is very small and reputations can get around quick. -R

Thanks Chuck! I didn't really realize how small the music world actually is until the last month. One of the guys downstairs in my office told me that his publicist is the same one Samantha Fish uses. Crazy!

Thanks for replying Anders! We have a shoot tonight for someone that we ran into by accident. The world is really small.

Bryce. What do you think? I see a lot of advice on how to photograph concerts but nothing like this. I photographed 9 bands this weekend and ran into someone I knew from another job. He’s the bass player for one bands. Then a woman I road the train with downtown every day walked up to me at the show. Turns out she was the security supervisor. Small world.
