Sorry to correct you, but Petsy does not mean "a small, sweet, precious thing" in German. It originates from early animal stories. There the bear is very often named "Meister Petz"- for master bear.

My grandfather was born in 1908. He got his first teddy (Steiff) in 1909. But not a tumbler. And loved by three generations...

Thanks for the information very interesting. I really like Steiff Bears but can not afford to collect them. I have only one that I bought back in 2011. I bought the Pepe 2011 limited edition bear with the white tag. For some reason I fell in love with this bear. I figure when I get old he will go with me to the old folks home too💕

I have one my grandmother gave me as a toddler from 1998 still in the original bag. She told me to never open it or it’ll lose its value and I never did. I’ve been trying to value it but haven’t been able to.

My grandmother when she was a little girl had a teddy bear that was jointed and had a perfume bottle inside the body of the teddy bear and the head pulled off so you could apply the perfume

Awesome video. I have a very old bear, looking like the Steiff bear, made from mohair, stuffed the same way, about 58 years old now. Got when I was about 3 when my dad went on oversea trip to work and brought the love of my life back. Poor Bear is now very tatty, and in desperate need of fixing. I do not want to sell him, just fix without loosing his value. He needs ears, eyes and his paws are open, as well as soles of his foot. The bear is fully jointed. Had glass eyes but got lost over years when with grandchild. I got him back a few years ago and feel so sorry for him looking so sad. Almost opened him up to fix him, then watched a video on your bears. Any recommendations?

My Teddy bear has no ear button left but its filled with wooden Wooll. My father bought it to me 71-72 years ago. He always bought qualitet things. When I have the chance to send you pictures from my computer I Will do so. My bear is well hugged and beloved. Mended hands and and a bleached scar from an appendix surgery…and has unfortunately stopped ”talking”. Its about 30 centimeter high. Can it still be sold for a reasonably sum, you think?
