@@eliaspap8708 What I meant was since is a full frame design lens, you are gonna get a full frame equivalent cropped image on the medium format GFX. Sure you're gonna get a higher resolution but other than that, you're getting the same depth of field as a full frame
I feel really curious about the actual T stop value of this lens, as it wont be the first time that cheap ultrabright lenses like this are actually allowing way less light than the theoretical F stop value announced.

I quickly compared it to my viltrox 85 f/1.8 on a nikon z fc . It wasn’t a perfectly controlled environment and I’d need to test it more rigorously but I found that the ttartisan at 1.25 was slightly brighter (~0.3 Ev) than the viltrox was at 1.8 and way darker (~0.6-0.9 Ev) when both compared at 1.8 . Still like the lens though .
I noticed not only poor sharpness at minimum distance but also at infinity, with edges that never recover by closing aperture. Nevertheless between say 1.8m and 8m sharpness is very high with a unique bokeh rendering, typically a large portrait lens with character. Edge sharpness depends often dramatically also from the thickness of the glass filters stack in front of the sensor, camera brand and type dependent, less from camera format.
Though not in the test results here I suspect the comatic flare of this lens should be comparable to that of the 75mm f1.25 sibling, which is to say pretty outrageous making it next to impossible to use in night scenes with street lights or any bright sources of lights being in focus in the image.

Even if I'd rather wanted to know the work performed, the singers' names, orchestra & location of the beautiful concert hall. A question - you don't seem to have reviewed any #Tokina #16-28mm#f,2.8? Is that so? For me the review would be too late as I've bought a copy yesterday and watched a above average performance for photos taken with just that lens on my social media accounts. The vocal length not only opens plenty of creative potential for me. It also seems to be among the cheapest f2.8 zooms, possibly the cheapest. According to DxO marks the first series not so long ago was the second best performing wide angle zoom for the Nikon system. The opera version has the same number of glass elements & groups and a very similar weight - it might be very similar or better optically. And seems to have faster AF. Tokina deserves more attention for the quality of its lineup and for this lens in particular methinks
After purchasing a Leica 24-70, I definitely don’t have any left for a different lens… I’m considering this one since it’s manual, doesn’t really need to communicate with the body. I have the Leica SL2-s

I'm following your lens reviews for quite a while now and I noticed that in many cases lenses show a much weaker perfromance in the edges of the image on your APS A5100 compared compared to the full frame A7RII. True, the 24 APS sensor requires generally a higher resolution of the lens due to its higher pixel density, but this is the case for both, center and edge. Im wondering if the more pronouced performance drop in the edges of the image compared to the center might be a specific problem of your A5100 sample. It looks to me that the sensor might not be mounted exactly in the image plane. If the left side of the sensor would be very slightly in front of the image plane and the right side slightly behind, the center might still be exactly in the image plane. Such a missalignment might explain your findings. Maybe you could doublecheck if this is true by running a comparison test with an other Sony APS body?
I wonder how sharp the midfield is on full frame. Perhaps the lens is corrected for the corners, and there is a ring at the APS-C corner position where field curvature is a problem?
I was wondering whether you can add a segment were you point the lenses you are reviewing towards the stars during the night sky so we can see the star shapes? Thanks.

If you are with Sony, not much choice for the Z mount, especially last year. The lens is great especially on Z9 but the only thing I really miss is stabilisation during handheld video or/and weather sealing in rainy/foggy november days like today 23 Nov 2023 :D
This lens is also available for rf, z, gfx and x1d mounts, not just m and e. It was released for those mounts some time in december along with the sony E Mount version.

I wish if you had reviewed the mitakon 85mm 1.2 so we can see a comparison between this lens the Samyang 85mm 1.2 and the Mitakon 85 1.2 ... I decided to finally get the Mitakon as it is the Only 85mm 1.2 that works on Nikon F-mount (Samyang XP 85mm never make it to Nikon F-mount as promised) ... If anyone got the Mitakon F-mount version and thinks to adapt it to its Z camera then I advise you to get a cheap manual (FTZ) as this lens back element interfere with the aperture lever on my FTZ (doesn't interfere with the lever on my F bodies though )
If an aps-c sensor is more demanding than full frame, full frame should be more demanding than medium format.bThus, I reason, the GFX offering of this lens will produce sharper results than your tests suggest. Can you agree with that?
Well, now I have both and you can feel the difference in 1.25 for sure but I won't be having the upcoming z85 1.2 S for sure so having both 1.8S and this 1.25 is great middle ground ;D I'm most concerned that this TTartisan doesn't have tripod collar while it's 1kg and I don't thrust the Z mount so I have to hold it all the time although I strap the camera with Peack Design (that holds 90kg ;D)
Weird how they're still doing screw-in lens caps as opposed to something easy and made of plastic. Aside from that, really just doesn't look that impressive, and such a short throw focus ring is an issue for a MF lens like this.
For $225 used, it's a no brainer for a goober like me who just takes portraits of my wife and kids... the Leica equivalent is $13,800. My wife would divorce me.

The reversing lens hood and lens cap combo comes from some vintage takumar lenses, although the lens cap on those was slip on, rather than screw on

It's going to be the same as the full frame. It's not a medium format sized lens
Benj Haisch has the video for you. It doesn't have medium format coverage but it's close.
He had M-mount version adapted using adapter. M is one of the smallest FF mounts. Maybe native GFX mount would do better in terms of image circle.

You're definitely correct but I don't think it should be a concern for pretty much anyone
I could be wrong but I remember someone tested other TTArtisan lenses before and said their T-stop values are quite close to claimed F-stop.

It looks to me that the sensor might not be mounted exactly in the image plane. I think his A5100 has a wrong aligned sensor. The differenz between aps-c 24MP and 41 MP on Fullframe is not so much (24MP x 2,25 for Fullframe).
