You cant beat your own home made fry up. Especially with smoked bacon which no cafe seems to ever offer.

100% Agree with your assessment there Paps. I had the same breakfast in Norwich a few weeks ago and was very disappointed. Before covid, I'd take my boys for a Wetherspoons Sunday breakfast before we hit the cinema. Louie always had the pancakes while Oliver and I had the large breakfast with black pudding. But then they stopped the pudding, and now you can't find black pudding anywhere on the menu. And poor Louie, the pancakes went up in price and down in size, plus the amount of maple syrup was a joke. So we go elsewhere now and pay more for a hot breakfast that hits the spot and offers good ol black pudding.

Hello Papparoni, that's a great deal'' most of that breakfast is made fresh except for the Bacon, which they buy in cooked. Sadly Wetherspoons, charges different prices around the country. In London, l pay between £5.50-£5.95 which is still great deal considering pay rate is 15% higher than the rest of the country. Nice thing about Wetherspoons, they cater for everyone's budget.

  • @PotatoPirate123

Last time I checked Spoons use the reduced sugar/salt beans, which is a mystery to me as I assume they're more expensive (and no one is eating a full English to be healthy). This explains why they're bland.
The bacon is probably cooked on a griddle rather than in the oven. Oven would give a much better crisp but I guess they don't have fast enough turnaround to cook many pieces like Gregg's does.
I agree on the sausages - breakfast should be a plain 'butcher' sausage or (at a push) a tomato sausage. Herbs don't belong on a breakfast even if you are near Lincolnshire. Sage is lovely in context but doesn't go well with a full English.

@@tempestfury8324 our established cuisine is largely a remnant of wartime rationing. Pre 1900 there were some very adventurous and wacky dishes but I think we have embraced the dishes of other nations so thoroughly that only the cafe and seaside dishes have much prominence these days - such as fish and chips, fry ups, liver and onion and pie and mash.
Other countries (such as Italy and Spain) have very passionately defended and embraced their historical dishes where we have arguably replaced ours. I imagine more people eat chicken tikka masala and lasagne here than even things like fish and chips.

Likewise, it's absurd not to have Mexican food here in crazy California (a cuisine I absolutely love). On the coast or an island nation, seafood will always be predominant.
But you might be surprised how many fish and chip shops we have here in the States. Maybe not "traditional" but darned close....and yes real malt vinegar is mandatory for me.
Indian and Middle Eastern cuisine is rampant in the U.K., and that's not a bad thing. The same goes for Asian cuisine with the Aussies.

NBC is my preference for chips and you can actually buy bottles of it in most chippies, although I always have some malt vinegar at home too. I'm not sure if you can buy it in the US but if they want to be truly authentic this is the condiment they should be using.

But they must be dreading the inevitable price increases that they're going to have to pass on to customers shortly... There's only so long that businesses can absorb those extra costs involved... My local takeaway has yet to increase it's prices... But it's only a matter of time... The only increase they have made so far... Is their delivery charge that rose from £1.50 to £2.50... But with the price of fuel these days... That's hardly surprising really... But if my breakfast had arrived at the table luke-warm my friend... I'm sorry you had a bit of a bad experience with this Pap as I actually really like Wetherspoons' breakfasts myself! Especially the fact you get no tomato is a big plus for me and also the fact you gave the Iceland/ASDA/Morrisons ready meal fry ups a much higher score than this suggests you much prefer them, though in my opinion a Spoons brekky is much, much better! I always go for the large one as well because I'm a pig lol 😂

I don't think I could do the large ones anymore Mr Atkinson. As my age increses, my appetite decreases! As for the scoring, it's kind of a seperate scale just for the out and about breakfasts, more to come :D

Expensive for that small amount. Wouldn't feed a flea. A teaspoon of beans, no tomatoes and mushrooms. Also don't like the look of the egg. I like my eggs flipped over for a few seconds so yoke is still soft but cooked on top.

1/10 for the sausage. Beans are fine, egg is ok but too small. Bacon is raw. Anybody that accepts hash crap on a breakfast has no clue on food so very poor effort. I would use them to throw at management.
