Thanks for this review by the way. Lots of other reviews have so much good stuff to say about this product, and while its not wrong, it also not complete since they hardly ever talk about the disadvantages of the grip.
@@antonioenrico thank you so much for your kind words and support. I noticed the same thing of other reviewers, which is why I made the video. I am so happy to see I have been able to relate with the general consumers who purchased this product like yourself. While warning potential buyers of the quite massive faults of this grip.
I have the snap 4 luxe and love it as a phone grip. I don’t generally charge my phone with a MagSafe charger. I just plug it in at night. (iPhone 13). I have problems with my hands so this takes all the pressure off my hands. I have stuck my phone to my refrigerator when cooking, and to my car when I had my hands full. Experienced no problems unsticking it. Also have had no problems with the camera bumps on my thin otter box case. Love the commercials! Also had the blue plastic one like in the commercial. Really liked it, but it did not feel as substantial.
I’m so happy that you don’t charge your phone with it on because you’re asking to get burned. For the utility of it I wouldn’t want to stick it to my fridge or car in fear of metal on metal scratching. As for the strength of the magnet, it is when sticking it to a MagSafe accessory like a car mount or a holder in the office that it is WAYYYY to strong. I will also say that an otter box case is bulky to protect the cameras and such from hitting. As the lip, unlike the totallee cases, are built up higher to give a bit more protection and less of a minimalist feel by comparison. My question to you is. Do you have a MagSafe otter-box ? Or is it just a standard case that then you stuck the OhSnap 4 to it ?
@@JTree yes it is MagSafe. It is very thin though. I have had 0 problems w/ my luxe. Use it as a figet spinner all day. Also, you mention scratching, it has not scratched anything. There is nothing on it to make a scratch.
@@jeanawalton9757 that’s great ! I wish my hands weren’t so big so I could actually spin it around like that haha. But then it would probably just scratch more on my ring or something. ;(
i loved the Luxe 3. Worked on all my wireless charging pads. The Luxe 4 wont let me charge through on a regular non-mag safe charging stand. The fact they wont sell me the previous versions of their products is extremely annoying.
@@antonioenrico right ?!?!? It makes no sense why they don’t have an alternative option…. I don’t understand how they didn’t come across massive errors like these in testing the product before they launched. Unless they didn’t and just pushed it out. I never got my hands on the Snap 3 but there was so many people that thought it was amazing. That’s why I was excited to get the Snap 4 Luxe… and what a disappointment that was Haha 🤣
@JTree Its a money grab for sure. They want you to buy their stand and charging kit. the best thing about the Luxe 3, my one line review is that: I forgot it was even there. Its slim, its light, it allows wireless charging. I have spent too much time figuring out whether or not the luxe 4 can work on my phone. Its so aggravating, and feels sort of scummy on their part.
Experienced the same issues especially with the heating and essentially just use it as a grip now. I removed the adhesive and found the magnets to still have a strong enough attachment to my cases so I just pop it off when I need to magcharge it. Great review!
Thank you so much for your support and comment ! That is a great idea for just a grip on the go. I just don’t like the scratching that it picks up. It won’t stay looking nice very long and it will eventually look beat up / cheap which is unfortunate for the price.
That is actually a great idea if you want to try and mitigate the heat up and only use your wireless charger at night or on long charging periods. I tried lower W charging for a few of the tests I did and it still get Very hot. But I I only used my iPhone. Maybe other phones are different
Thank you... it sure is helpful ! it comes to my mind that does it still heat up as much with only the case and the iron ring in it when charging it wireless on any wireless charger ? does the Iron ring that is integrated in the Mobile Phone Case have a negative influence when putting it on a wireless charger without the ow snap Luxe 4 ? i have seen allot of views sow i guess if you would make a short review on that that would be helpful as well... Live long and prosper,
Hello ! First, thank you so much for your comment and your support. Second, I have tested it with several different methods. With a non MagSafe case and then with no case just the phone and the OhSnap. I can tell you that with the non MagSafe case AND just with the OhSnap on the back of the phone no case. The charger and the phone heated up all the same maybe just a tad less. But still to dangerous levels that will most certainly damage the battery quickly. It is the raw conduction the chargers are having on the metal backing of the OhSnap ring and the magnetic pull. I tried with multiple chargers and brick configurations. All of them heating the same. As soon as I stopped using it and tried all the tests again just without the OhSnap and no dangerous overheating occurred in any test. I even specifically tried the case from totalee, from the video, with NO OhSnap and it didn’t heat up like that only general warmth no burning temps. Hopefully this helps answer your question ! Ps: I will be making a video very soon on a grip that I think is the best grip in the small footprint MagSafe style as the OhSnap is. Look out for that one soon ! Thanks again ! Talk soon ! 🙏
Thanks allot ! now i can order at least the case so i can use it in my car without to worry that it will melt away because its getting to hot... i already though that the magnets was a bad idea for a wireless charger but the Iron rings also made me worry ha The Irony isn't that Ironic :D friendly Wireless waves @@JTree
I would say that the list is: 1. PopSocket MagSafe PopGrip Full or PopGrip Round - Low footprint and removable with strong magnetic attachments. Can slide in small pants pocket pouches when not being used and your phone has a MagSafe accessory on it. Which one you want is really personal preference. Both are the same just one uses stabilizer for extra design/finger lay space. 2. PopSocket PopWallet+ in white - everything said above about the function and form just adds card slots so you don’t have to carry a wallet with you. So when it’s not attached to the phone it still lowers your carrying footprint not having a wallet on you. 3. ESR Geo Halo Lock Wallet - It has great stand versatility and has find my in it, so if it ever got lost you can locate it. It also has a simple grip added to it that feels really natural when holding it. When it’s not in use when using other MagSafe holders or chargers, it gives a classic folding wallet feel in the pocket that’s normal for a lot of people. But at a really thin non invasive profile. Hope this helps! Let me know what grip is your favourite. Or, if you like this list, and have tried or buy any of them, let me know what you think of them. Thanks for your comment and for watching the video!
@@dgunter151 is your case MagSafe compatible ? The case has to have the MagSafe support ring of magnets to help with accessories on a case. If there isn’t one built in, apples mag safe feature is not strong enough to hold through the few millimeters of case that’s in between. Idk why Apple made it this way. Probably to protect the internals and have the magnets set to a certain tolerance. But, either way, I hope this answer helps :)
@@dgunter151 if this comment isn’t a general statement and is about the Luxe 4 from OhSnap, then the answer is in the fact that the Snap 4 Luxe needs to be stuck with the adhesive backing to any phone or phone case. If it comes off after that then you will need to replace the 3M adhesive. I’m not sure if they sell them on their site but that would be where I would look. If you forego the adhesive. The way the magnetic pull functions with metal or MagSafe accessories is quite strong and will pull off of your phone and stay stuck against your accessories because it is not stuck down with the adhesive. It’s kinda weird. I hope this alternative answer also helps address your issue. Thanks 😊
I have looked into it, and I will say the grip portion looks to have a great effect of popping up. But it seems like it would fall victim to the same scratches and scrapes the outer ring of the oh snap carried. The other thing I noticed is that they knew the metal design was a conductor so they made it to not have pass through MagSafe charging to prevent overheating and dangerous temperatures. I like that it is thin and quick removable like the PopSocket MagSafe Grip. I am going to be releasing my video on what I think of that grip in the coming days so be sure to check that out. Thanks for watching my video and leaving a comment !
@@DroidLocks6971 normally I would say that’s a great idea. But, the Snap 4 Luxe uses a 3M adhesive to stick to the case or back of your phone. If you don’t stick it with the adhesive, when you take it off of surfaces it will just stay stuck to the metal surface. You will then have to pry it off of the surface it’s stuck too, and possibly scratch the metal luxe ring. Making it look tattered and ruined over time. I really did want to love this phone holding assistive device. But it just doesn’t make the cut no matter which way you slice it.
Appreciate your video, but I couldn’t disagree more. I have the luxe with the white iPhone and it’s gorgeous. And mine hasn’t scratched over the last 5 months. Great product imo
I also have the white iPhone 15. I 100% agree, the metal looks great. But, the black circle is an eye sore, and the metal does indeed scratch if you wear a ring, or you put it on a rough table or charger. The heating issue is still a concern I think that turns me away from it. I needed to make sure I reviewed the product to protect people’s phones from premature battery damage. I am happy to hear that you are enjoying it. Thank you so much for watching the video, and taking the time to comment your thoughts 😊.
@@JTree ah well you could be right. i usually lay it face down rather than camera-side down, so i suppose i haven't exposed it to the conditions you have.
