I'm rewatching this video to convert back to F2P because I've started playing a few times over the last 2 years but P2P always ends up being too overwhelming. I recently wanted to reach a good high score rank for farming as sadly it's by far my favourite skill which usually keeps me coming back to P2P. But, it's just become toxic where I'm playing 12 hours a day. The nice thing is I can still compete for F2P high scores because there's not as much rush as there's not nearly as much competition.
Exactly. The F2P hiscores weren't necessarily the reason I switched to F2P, but as I've been progressing, I realized it's really fun to compete. And you're right, it isn't nearly as saturated as the P2P hiscores.
I agree with your points, I've had a bond ingame once. I didn't really enjoy it because of the pressure that came with it I've been f2p ever since, and I've set new goals for my account. I think I tripled my playtime in the weeks after my bond expired compared to the months I spent before it
After having a 10+ year break from the game, coming back and casually playing feels nice. Made a new acc as HCIM, and loving having to work for everything, but also not being overwhelmed by SO much content. Love your vids, keep it up. 👍
I just got started at this game as a FTP and you are right, every aspect of PTP I'd heard feels more like the stock market than a game, prefering profits over the gaming experience.
Yeah definitely. That's one of the reasons I like the ironman mode also, is you don't have to worry about trading items when you physically can't trade.
For me I always find myself focusing on efficiency and getting the most XP or gp for my time when I buy a bond versus f2p where I can enjoy the game not feeling pressured by time
I am more of a new player (16yr) started again 2021 but in 2014/2016 I used to play with my brother (farmed xp, did quests, etc.) while he played members and farmed for cannon balls, I just killed cows, dark wizards, fished near barbarians, chopped trees. It simplified the game for me, and I still love it, I'm not sure if to start trying members but it's fun to just play and train skills. Plus the nostalgia factor of it all. And i'm getting some of my friends into osrs even if it's f2p
Another reason is that theres more freedom to train what you like. Since things are so slow, 200m all and, for some people, maxing just isnt realistic. This means that theres thousands of unique long-term goals people can go for. For example, killing golems to 200m all isnt efficient, But if your goals are a 200m melee, and 99 rc, killing golems are really good. And if you dont like golems, you can just do 200m melee at fleshies, and afk earths. Since its so hard to "run out" of stuff to do, methods that hurt you in the VERY long-run, dont hurt at all if its unrealistic to get there in the first place. Same for regular accounts too, only want to max and get a 200m gatherer/melee? You dont have to constantly be concerned with gp alts the whole time, since gp doesnt 100% line up with your goals. Since f2p is so long, you dont have to play with 200m all in mind.
Yeah it’s a lot more diverse than I think a lot of members and non members even are aware of, Tanner. With so many different ways to train, account types, and send restrictions you can put on yourself, it’s really awesome that there is so much packed into such a relatively small area on the map. :)
F2P 4 lyfe!l But in all seriousness, the main reason I stay F2P is nostalgia purposes. I've never been a member. I played the game briefly from 2002 to 2004 on and off, the whole time as a F2P account. I've never known what it's like to be a member, and quite frankly, I don't really have an interest. When first coming back to the game December of 2021, I thought initially I probably would want to become a member. But then I realized just how much there is to do in the F2P world. Only way I'll consider membership is once I have maxed every skill in F2P, gotten every single unlockable emote/unique clothing pieces, do the beginner scrolls for the achievement, and anything else I have forgotten to add to the list.
@@Kaitios thanks man, I've commented previously on your videos as John Doe. You have great F2P guides! Wish they would make one to three more F2P quests. One early game, one mid game, and one end game, like one that you're supposed to do before Dragon Slayer 1. I want a new weapon to replace the Rune Scimmy as the best F2P weapon, preferably a weapon acquired through some sort of quest. Anyways, thanks for listening to my rant. Hope to enjoy more videos of yours soon!
About two weeks ago I bought the year membership on my main. A couple days ago, I decided I wanted an Ironman just to feel the nostalgia. Now I’m playing more on my F2P Ironman, haha. It’s so weird.
Love the video, I recently did dragon slayer and have been grinding for about a week after this f2p even though I already have a bond in my pouch. God bless you.
gratz :D dragon slayer was the reason me and my friends used to set as a goal before hitting members. we even picked gods to follow. each one of us even specialized into areas. i was the smither having 80 smith before hitting members.
Any one you choose will be fun on its own, I would recommend either a hardcore, or ultimate F2P Ironman, though a F2P gim could also be fun if you have some long term dedicated players in your group! :)
I'm a F2P UIM only. And it's the must fun I've ever had playing the game. My stats are all (Exept pray and RC) above lvl 70. And the only progression I have left is mining/smithing. For that sweet sweet Rune scimmy. And other rune items :D I'm currently grinding away in camdozaal mining and smithing area. For me P2P is to overwelming, there is to much to do, to collect, to think about. F2P is just as you say. Usualy one or 2 traning options for one skill.
i would love if f2p would gradually get some old members stuff, like the OG best equipment (dragon chain, med helm, whip) like it was in the good old days
I haven't done GIM , though doing it f2p only definitely is a new perspective to the game. Getting everyday items is much harder, and the level ups feel more valuable doing it in f2p compared to p2p imho. Hope you continue to enjoy the F2P GIM grinds my friend. :)
After 1 week of F2P HCIM i experienced everything it has to offer already.. Only the grind is left but i don't think it's for me, the only drops are the ogress mask, giant club and bryophyta's staff.. Once you have those there's nothing else to look forward to...
I play f2p for the same reason people play ironman or regon locked accounts. It's an added challenge. Also I think a f2p locked members ironman could be interesting
End game on f2p is reached way, way too soon to keep the majority of players interested after a month or so. You can literally start a new account and be in end game gear in every attack style with every quest done in like 2 days. Thats the main reason i cant be stuck f2p for more than a week at a time. Lack of interesting challenging content. the 5m for a bond is non existent compared to the list of moneymakers and far superior leveling methods you unlock with membership. anyone actually playing the game will maintain a bond easily within a day of grind or so and if your not already occasionally grinding for money your probably not actually playing the game to begin with. The dailies argument that you would rather stay f2p to not be offered free exp and gold so that you dont feel obligated to do them is also like...incredibly flawed, the offer to do them is still there just behind a bond. you should still feel like your wasting exp and money by not doing them because you are.
I appreciate the feedback. You're absolutely correct, there is a very finite amount of activities you can do in the F2P game for sure. And yes, if you are looking for more engaging, more xp and gp/hr experience, by all means, play members definitely! Whatever way of playing this game gives you the most pleasure, then do that! :)
@@Kaitios its hard because as soon as you do introduce more challenging content to f2p, your probably going to deal with way more power creep also as a byproduct.
Yeah for sure. There's definitely a fine line in regards to F2P Updates causing power creep. In P2P, they can add so much more and the "meta' is more flexible to change, whereas in F2P, one new change could cause a dramatic change in the F2P "meta", cause there aren't many alternatives. Power creep is a very sucky part of any game, though I feel like Jagex in general is handling it well compared to other games.
Subbed, really like your vibe and commentary keep it up! I have a p2p account and f2p account but I find myself on my f2p HCIM more often than not. My main got to 2,000 total and I don’t play enough to Max in a reasonable time so I feel defeated cause everything is a long grind. Just like your point I like f2p because it’s a straightforward grind compared to the overwhelming amount of members content.
Not trying to argue against choosing to stay f2p, I have a f2p uim myself, but I think reasons 3 and 4 are issues with mindset that can be worked on. One month membership costs less than a dinner at a restaurant. When you buy one, do you thoroughly try to enjoy every aspect of that meal to get the most value out of it? If no then why stress out for an entire month over less money? Instead of looking at daily tasks as free money, see it as an optional moneymaking method. I never do the daily diary stuff and my bank and account progress is doing just fine. Farming is a bit different, but personally I grew herb seeds and birdhouses while training agility to 99 and saw the runs every 1h 20 mins as a break from running rooftops. When I do other stuff that is more complex than running rooftops I just leave the runs alone, there is no need to do a set amount of them per day.
Whenever I become a member usually it's because my friends are sitting there begging me basically to do it. Just become a member you can make so much more money in blah blah blah and I'm like all right fine so they buy me a bond or something like that like that and then I'm in the members world and they are like what are you doing now andwell I'm putting on my armor n stuff like cool. Lets do something and I go for a little bit for bossing ,we end up back at the bank and then I catch myself cutting yew trees again just like f2p. But seriously I like to do is wood cut yews, fish lobsters And Some combat range in attack I'm already 99 strength so I enjoy free to play more than I do with all the obligations of membership
#3...tell me about it. i play an alt with the express purpose of being as afk as possible but still able to afford a bond for the alt and my main within the alts bond time. i've started a f2p ironman and its quiet refreshing.
Def agree on feeling like you have to play a ton under membership…. Im looking forward to making a FTP Ironman at some point and having that account occupy me for a good long while
I completely agree being a member takes the fun away for me. It makes it me feel content. Plus I literally stay in the normal map anyway. I feel like I actually earned everything
F2P is great and the community Is Fantastic... but I've been tricked ( I guess lured) by a player I thought was a friend... and the other day I accidentally went into a pvp world and some guy wrecked me so I asked could I get my stuff back! And he said no and killed me again... pagen!
Membership keeps the game alive, they literally working on a game for your joy. how else are they paying everyone working on it.and if you enjoy the game why bother contributing a little bit.
Unfortunately there really isn’t a good creature besides ogresses to train strength and receiving a lot of money at the same time in F2P. I would say base 80 melees would be good enough to be able to kill the ogresses decently well. The gold from their drops in the form of coins and high alchs are fantastic! :)
@@10bfarhankhan89 That may be so, however if you go this route, you’ll be sacrificing potential crafting/prayer xp from ogresses, and potential runecrafting xp from the newly released body golems. Really up to the player to choose the path that they think will suit them the most.
@@Kaitios that may be but the money made from the profitable monsters can be made quite easily in p2p in no time.so in my opinion its quite time efficient to be afk since you can multi task
@@10bfarhankhan89 oh yeah, if the player is going p2p at some point for that account then go for the fleshies/spiders, the ogresses and other monsters I mentioned before would be the best choice if that persons account was strictly F2P, especially that of a F2P Ironman.
It's called "F2P Paradise", it's a private F2P cc however. PM me in game at "FE Kaitios", or join my discord server and hmu! I can give you the details about how to join from there. :)
@@Kaitios Great video with all the points it includes btw. I thought nobody could successfully defend F2P. I'd still suggest members tho since you run out of content eventually and it's a really bad feeling.
@@sirprize5191 definitely a lot more to do in members. I would suggest becoming a member at some point as well if a player has never been a member before, but yeah pros and cons for each. :)
“Rewarding” as in its incredibly much harder to get 99 prayer in F2P, using F2P only methods compared to getting it as a member using P2P methods. Getting 99 Prayer in my eyes as a F2Per is a much greater accomplishment than doing it as a member.
Also if you keep pressing Left at the beginning of the video, it sounds like you're drinking a potion in minecraft. yes, I woke up at 3 am. no, I've never played minecraft.
well the fact that one years membership is only the money i would put on one night at a bar so i dont give a ## if i dont play for a mounth or 2 , and if you want to play for dailies go for it but you cant do anything in the game at any moment. and know most job make at least 300-500$ a mounth so why not coconut get that membership and do anything the game can gives you...?
nice video, I really want to start a f2p only account but my only problem with it is how can people see the value of my time and effort put into f2p if they might think I trained some f2p skills in p2p. For example prayer can be like 10times faster in p2p and melee stats like twice faster how can one know you got 99 prayer burying big bones for 15exp ea for example? etc etc
Great question for sure! I dead give away is if there are any member skills that aren't level 1, than it's a given that the player has gone members previously. Also, if you look at that player's profile on the RS website, if there is a member logo/icon next to that player it's another tell. Likewise, if it is shown that a player has any other members content unlocked (songs, achievements, quests) etc, that would invalidate that account. To be honest though, being f2p only is kind of like an honor system in that regard.
A suggestion try to not read directly from a script in the way you are incredible video but it's obvious and seems more tedious and less authentic other than that good video keep it up
I respect the OSRS f2p community but I disagree with a few things you said. First off the fact the you don't spent money is 100% the biggest reason for the f2p community to stay f2p. While I also agree its not necessarily because people can't afford it but its that get game isn't worth that price to them to play, its the same as buying a triple A $60 video game every 6 months. Also you said an f2p 99 is just equal to a members 200 mill?? I'm sorry dude but that's just so far from the truth. It's not even close. Its slower, but even REMOTELY close my dude...
Absolutely fair, and I agree with you on what you said. Not spending money on the game is a large reason for remaining F2P, I don’t think it’s the be all end all. Since we don’t spend money on the game, F2P players don’t have the ability to vote in polls, or shape the state of the game to the same effect as a P2P player is able to, and honestly we shouldn’t have that ability anyway. As I’ve made this video a while ago, iirc I believe what I meant was that getting a 99 as a F2P player in the more challenging skills such as runecrafting and prayer is certainly on par with getting that same skill to 200m as a member. A skill like prayer, especially as a hardcore not electing to do boneyard will get you 4-5k/hour for prayer, when in members training with a lit gilded altar will give about 500k-1m xp per hour. The easier skulls to train like cooking and fishing however, you’re right. These skills are still slower in F2P, though it will still take longer for a P2P player to hit 200m in that skill than a F2P player hitting the 99.
What are some other reasons you enjoy the free to play game mode? Please let me know in the comments below! :)

Hit my first 10mln in second week of new f2p acc done all quests and just now i flip some items and do around 0.5-2hrs of high alch just chilling on f2p. Nostalgia and fun skilling whatever i want using methods to profit little instead of just paying like in p2w xD Edit only mobile, laying on bed while clicking osrs and listening to audiobooks is so chilling i refuse to play osrs on pc :D
I didn't really enjoy it because of the pressure that came with it
I've been f2p ever since, and I've set new goals for my account. I think I tripled my playtime in the weeks after my bond expired compared to the months I spent before it
Love to hear it! Thank you for sharing! :)
After having a 10+ year break from the game, coming back and casually playing feels nice. Made a new acc as HCIM, and loving having to work for everything, but also not being overwhelmed by SO much content. Love your vids, keep it up. 👍
Glad to hear you like the videos and that they’re helping you. Welcome back to gielinor my friend. :)
Awesome to hear! Thank you for sharing that! :)
For me the pressure reason is the most strong, but i also like hard and unique achievements
I like the idea of starting from the bottom and working my way up to mem
Also a good strat!
I was thinking of starting a F2P ironman and I think you have me convinced of trying 😁 Great video btw
Awesome! Glad you liked the video! :)
I can confirm F2P is the most simple and intuitive. Like for real, what's the best f2p melee gear? The one made from the best material. Really simple.
Runite for life.
F2P 4 lyfe!l
But in all seriousness, the main reason I stay F2P is nostalgia purposes.
Yeah, there really is a lot more in F2P than meets the eye for sure. Welcome back to the game btw! :)
@@f2pscaper4lyfe93 yeah I would love some higher difficulty F2P quests for sure! Glad you like the guides my friend! :)
About two weeks ago I bought the year membership on my main. A couple days ago, I decided I wanted an Ironman just to feel the nostalgia. Now I’m playing more on my F2P Ironman, haha. It’s so weird.
Similar thing happened to me too. F2P is fun in its own ways!
Love the video, I recently did dragon slayer and have been grinding for about a week after this f2p even though I already have a bond in my pouch. God bless you.
You are very welcome, my friend! Thank you for the kind words, and I'm glad you enjoy the videos! :)
gratz :D
dragon slayer was the reason me and my friends used to set as a goal before hitting members.
we even picked gods to follow. each one of us even specialized into areas. i was the smither having 80 smith before hitting members.
So well said man. Found my new fav channel!
I’m unsure if I wanna do a reg f2p acc, an iron, a gim though! Haha
Wow thank you, that really means a lot to me! I’m glad you enjoy what I put out! :)
I'd like to see corrupted dragon equipment make a comeback, where it degrades after "x" amount of time.
Recently started f2p GIM....I gotta say, feels like a fresh perspective
I haven't done GIM , though doing it f2p only definitely is a new perspective to the game. Getting everyday items is much harder, and the level ups feel more valuable doing it in f2p compared to p2p imho. Hope you continue to enjoy the F2P GIM grinds my friend. :)
great vid kaitios!
Thank you, King! :)
After 1 week of F2P HCIM i experienced everything it has to offer already.. Only the grind is left but i don't think it's for me, the only drops are the ogress mask, giant club and bryophyta's staff.. Once you have those there's nothing else to look forward to...
You're right, it really isn't for everyone. The slower grinds are more monotonous, yes. Though I am really happy you gave the F2P HCIM a shot! :)
@@Kaitios Yeah it is really nostalgic playing f2p for some reason youre right about that :)
cool video mate.
Glad you enjoyed!
I play f2p for the same reason people play ironman or regon locked accounts. It's an added challenge. Also I think a f2p locked members ironman could be interesting
Didn't know youtube accounted for location but it says Syracuse so upstate ny represent lol
No fucking way. I live in Syracuse!!!!
love your content
Thank you! I’m glad you enjoy it! :)
Power creep is a very sucky part of any game, though I feel like Jagex in general is handling it well compared to other games.
the dailies argument isn't flawed. People feel obligated to do these events in order to get 'full' use out of their bond.
Nice video my bro!😚
Thank you, Gamestarz! :)
i'm a f2p only player aswell, what's a good chat to join?
Add me in game at FE Kaitios, I can give you some details on how to join F2P Paradise! :)
Hey glad you liked the video, and thank you for the sub! Yeah I'm a big fan of the straightforwardness of the F2P style. :)
amazing video! ty
Why jagex hasnt made weekly membership yet. Not everyone has consistent schedule.
Not sure!
Is that despawn timer a runelite plugin if so what is it
Yeah RuneLite -> Ground Items -> Despawn Timer -> Seconds
This man does not miss! nice vid Kaitios
I keep it 100! ;)
True. f2P is much simpler, no stress game compared to p2p for all the reason that you laid out.
Glad you agree, Sviesos! :)
Thank you for sharing that! :)
#3...tell me about it. i play an alt with the express purpose of being as afk as possible but still able to afford a bond for the alt and my main within the alts bond time.
i've started a f2p ironman and its quiet refreshing.
Glad you gave the F2P hcim style a shot!! And yeah definitely helps to have an afk alt to afford bonds with for member play! :)
Def agree on feeling like you have to play a ton under membership…. Im looking forward to making a FTP Ironman at some point and having that account occupy me for a good long while
Yes! You’ll get a lot of action even in F2P, and it’s nice cause you can get on and off when you want, and not feel pressured to play.
#3 and #7 for me. I barely have time now and I'm afraid my bond time will be wasted 😥
I use F2P as a break from P2P, which causes me to play more stressfully and hardcore (cause time is money there...)
Nice vid would have been nice to see different clips instead of the golems tho keep it up brotha💪
Yeah, normally I do change up the clips, but I just felt like gaming and talking on this one. :)
I just started the game, but I’m thinking about f2p and I wanted to upgrade my agility/stamina sadly I can’t .
Pros and cons my friend. Only real way to restore energy in F2P is by utilizing the clan wars portal, and with energy potions.
number 3 is my reason for sure!!
That’s a very good reason! :)
just getting back into my f2p uim, the power ammy is a grind lol
One of the first big grinds! You got it!
these reasons actually make sense, great video :D
Thank you, Proxcty! Glad you liked the video! :)
I’m free to play kinda guy too
You are such a legend. :)
sad that we have to explain why we play the way we play, just let us be f2p :'(
A lot of people don't realize the pros. :)
Great vid
Thank you, Blastoise! :)
Is it okay to do a paid name change? As far as being legit as a f2p and on hiscores.
That's a highly debated topic in F2P. I, personally did a name change, then didn't play at all until the membership expired.
@@Kaitios I thought you can pay for a name change without including any members activation. But someone said temple osrs might not like that.
@@sixsixsik not entirely sure.
Man, it costs money to be member :'( #1 reason
You are correct. It does cost money to be a member.
I completely agree being a member takes the fun away for me. It makes it me feel content. Plus I literally stay in the normal map anyway. I feel like I actually earned everything
Do you ply on 301 if so I hope to meet you one day you’ve helped me so much
The vid just states fact after fact holy
:)
Can just do an F2P and P2P account at the same time, don’t have to choose between the two if one does not want to.
Yup! I definitely encourage that also! I know a lot of people who have one of each! :)
I don't have enough time to maintain members, so I feel it's a waste of money or gp to buy bonds lol, and having fun as a HC f2p
-Hc 4th Try
Very good reasons! :)
Lesss goooo.. friendly hcim here.. add me.. xdoubie. :)
F2P is great and the community Is Fantastic... but I've been tricked ( I guess lured) by a player I thought was a friend... and the other day I accidentally went into a pvp world and some guy wrecked me so I asked could I get my stuff back! And he said no and killed me again... pagen!
I’m sorry that happened to you. :(
Membership keeps the game alive, they literally working on a game for your joy. how else are they paying everyone working on it.and if you enjoy the game why bother contributing a little bit.
You can certainly do that! You're not wrong there.
I love f2p,im finding problems finding a way to train str and make money at the same time.
Unfortunately there really isn’t a good creature besides ogresses to train strength and receiving a lot of money at the same time in F2P. I would say base 80 melees would be good enough to be able to kill the ogresses decently well. The gold from their drops in the form of coins and high alchs are fantastic! :)
Hey dont forget about the deadly red spiders in barb stronghold. Best f2p melee xp if your high lvl
And they are afk too, I believe! :)
@@Kaitios fleshcrawlers+red spiders are the best melee xp and you can afk for about 20 mins
@@10bfarhankhan89 oh yeah, if the player is going p2p at some point for that account then go for the fleshies/spiders, the ogresses and other monsters I mentioned before would be the best choice if that persons account was strictly F2P, especially that of a F2P Ironman.
whats your cc :)
It's called "F2P Paradise", it's a private F2P cc however. PM me in game at "FE Kaitios", or join my discord server and hmu! I can give you the details about how to join from there. :)
I really like your point of view. Fairly successful and unbiased.
Excellent content also, keep it up!
Thank you, Manuel, I'm glad you enjoyed! This was a really fun video to make! :)
What's your cpu?
I don’t remember exactly. I think it’s intel i5 but I’m not entirely sure.
I only pk on f2p but i only train on p2p
Great video
Thank you, James! :)
I definitely think F2P has is benefits.
A real rscaper, loved the vid!!
Thank you, Nx! Glad you enjoyed! :)
You completely lost me by saying 99 F2P prayer is more rewarding
“Rewarding” as in its incredibly much harder to get 99 prayer in F2P, using F2P only methods compared to getting it as a member using P2P methods. Getting 99 Prayer in my eyes as a F2Per is a much greater accomplishment than doing it as a member.
I wish I had another reason why, but I don't. You covered all the bases all too well.
I’m glad! :)
Also if you keep pressing Left at the beginning of the video, it sounds like you're drinking a potion in minecraft. yes, I woke up at 3 am. no, I've never played minecraft.
It’s so easy to make money in RuneScape as a member I make over 100m a day
It definitely is much easier to make money in P2P, yes.
It’s a lot easier to feel rich in ftp
That is true.
f2p let's goooooooo
well the fact that one years membership is only the money i would put on one night at a bar so i dont give a ## if i dont play for a mounth or 2 , and if you want to play for dailies go for it but you cant do anything in the game at any moment. and know most job make at least 300-500$ a mounth so why not coconut get that membership and do anything the game can gives you...?
Merely a different, more simplistic way to play the game is all.
nice video, I really want to start a f2p only account but my only problem with it is how can people see the value of my time and effort put into f2p if they might think I trained some f2p skills in p2p.

5:56 LMAOOO
Brown rocks are the best rocks.
lol i get members to play f2p
Nice
I’m conflicted lol
You could always make a second F2P only account
