Blake in the Song on Innocence constructs a divine image defined by mercy, pity, peace and love and speaks of this being the image of both God and his creation: the human being. In the song of experience he goes on to contrast this image and speaks of facets of cruelty, terror, jealousy and secrecy which too are created by nature and which the human being possesses.
