@@thefiendish186 No, it only affects that particular Pokemon's attacks, and only additional effects that affect the target... For example, Headbutt wouldn't cause flinching, but Overheat would still cause its user's Sp Att to drop...
Liam when regular nidoking went down to low health you couldn't really see how much it had left because the nidoking image blocked it. The video was still good though really thought the winner would be different.
Coolhand 118 really? I never noticed it until I saw this video. I'll have to keep my eye out now but it's just something I wanted to say no harm of course. Thanks for the info.
Yay! I've been waiting for this video since form fight started! I personally love Nidoqueen, I always had one in my gen 1 team because I thought it was cool that only these specific Pokemon seemed to have genders and my first holographic Pokemon card was a Nidoqueen!
I feel like Nidoqueens overall evolution line and design are more cohesive. They look like a growing evolution where nidoking looks like it has a random added rat tail(what does it not have spikes on it or something), jumped to being on 2 legs out of nowhere, and lost toes. Not to mention Nidoking having UGLY pre-evolutions. Nidoqueen looks almost like a blue spotted hamster to start and subtly grows into the dino character she ends up at. Love it!!
1:48 There is actually a Pokédex entry where it explains why Nidoqueen never breeds. They only breed outside of the daycare, due to the protectiveness to their young. So they only ever breed outside the daycare.
There is actually a deep lore reason why Nidoking can breed but Nidoqueen can't. The Nidos are an amalgamation of different animals such as rabbits, porcupines but most notably *rhinos.* In captivity female rhinos are incredibly difficult to breed; they need LOTS of space, a healthy herd environment and lots of privacy. You can't just stick a male and female in a room and expect babies, females need the support of other females to become fertile! Males on the other hand have no such problems, they are always virile. The Pokedex entries are from Nidoqueen in the wild where they are more fertile, while ones in captivity struggle to breed because they don't have the right environmental conditions.
Nidoking has always been one of my favorite pokemon…this fight feels weird though. It's basically asking a man to beat his wife, or vice versa. Either way feels kind of bad. btw I do think it's really stupid gamefreak hasn't fixed the breeding issue yet, they've had 5 or 6 generations. These two should be able to breed by now.
@@MotorcycleCheetah rhyhorn looks a WHOLE lot more like a rhino than the nido line... and anyway Rhyhorn and the nido line are in the drill category... and they all have 3 evolutions...but they all learn basically the same moves...and all look similar to rhinos
And I'm just here waiting the form fight between Vileplume and Bellossom to see that unnecessary meh! Ula dancer, selling plushies, bait bite the dust :D
I prefer Nidoking's looks but Nidoqueen is the better battler. Any Nidoking you run is going to have 10 stat points wasted depending on whether you use a special or physical attacker. On top of that, Nidoking's still mediocre speed isn't going to be a deciding factor in most match-ups. Meanwhile Sheer Force makes up for Nidoqueen's more lackluster offenses while maintaining better bulk.
Imperiused I like nidokings design much better but I agree that nidoqueen has the better stat spread. The small loss in power and already mediocre speed towards better bulk is way better
Always loved Nidoqueen and used it when I used to play Ree, Blue and Yellow way back when. Loved the designed and loved the fact it could learn so many moves. I would evolve it into Nidoriana until after I beat Misty and then used a Moon Stone for Lt Surge.
LOL Liam asked if Nidoking was going go get the Ancient Power Boost when Nidoking has Sheer Force which prevents secondary effects which was mentioned in the analysis of Nidoking. My forte of the 2 though would be Nidoking by a 51:49% difference.
Cool episode, man! Really intense, the battle definitely went back and forth between the two. Kind of like this, I'd love to see a showdown between Braviary and mandibuzz! Since they're the gender opposite of one another
I've actually just produced a Haxorus that ended up hatching with the Rivalry ability, and rather than bothering to switch it, I gave it Attract to deal with the lesser damage it'll do to opposite sexes.
Heya Liam! How's it going? The Battle of the Royal Nidos eh? Nice; I never actually thought of these two as different forms but it makes a bit of sense, all things considered. I'm gonna go ahead and do my usual of making my pre-stat guess and then my post-stat guess. Before I listen to you break down their stats and abilities, I'm leaning towards Nidoking as the winner based solely on my experience fighting Giovani in Red and Blue. He had both of them, and Nidoking was always more frightening and devastating to go up against (unless I was incredibly overpowered for the fight, like I usually was, lol) [...watches stats...] Alrighty, I did not know their stats were that close. But, considering the numbers, and the ability, I think I'm actually going to shift my vote to Nidoqueen; while both of them get the attack boost from Sheer Force (well, damage boost from the moves at least), Nidoqueen maintains her superior staying power and since attacks will not be applying buffs or debuffs, Nidoking can't gain an easy edge that way either. I completely agree with you about the design though and much prefer Nidoking's appearance over Nidoqueen's. But now it's time for the fight! [...watches fight...] Well, that early burn against Nidoking only served to remove some of its advantage (greater attack) which only gave the Nidoqueen's an even better relative defensive edge now didn't it? Plus the constant chip damage is nothing to scoff at. Followed rather closely by a High Horsepower as well. Looks like that Defense Order was a good choice since ol' Blue was the last Nido standing. The Nidoqueen's earned this win and it was a great fight. Thanks again for the entertainment Liam! Love your work, keep up the good stuff :)
Personally I love both of them, but I used to like Nidoking more; until I watched Pokemon Origins with Giovanni's basses Nidoqueen with Surf and Double Kick. At that moment all of my love shifted to team Nidoqueen.
Creepy fact about these two Pokémon even though nidoqueen can’t breed nidoran female can meaning the only Pokémon of its line that nidoking can breed with is what’s essentially a small child
This is stupid that these Pokémon are separate evolutionary lines. Instead of Nidoran♀, Nidorina, Nidoqueen and Nidoran♂, Nidorino and Nidoking there should have been one evolutionary line: Nidoran, Nidorin (2nd form) and Nidoron (3rd and final form). The original Pokémon with different forms, I love it! I know as a girl I should root for Nidoqueen but ... I just like Nidoking more! Sorry girl, Nintendo conned you with that shade of green for your shiny (purple Shiny Nidoqueen would have been awesome)! Would you do Sawsbuck in a future Form Fight? I wanna see who'll win a Battle of the Seasons, I love Winter as a season the most but I'm Team Autumn for the win! (Yes I know it's only a cosmetic change and Sawsbuck has sucked since the start of Gen VI but it still counts!) A Latios/Latias Form Fight (male and female counterparts can count right?) or better yet a Mewtwo/Mew Form Fight (super clone vs original counts I'm sure)! Thanks for yet another awesome battle Liam ^_^
Did we ever get an explanation why female Nidoran can breed but Nidorina and Nidoqueen can’t? Cause that seems like an error but it’s never been corrected in any subsequent game.
sheer force means the damage difgerence isnt nearly as big, its really a question of the extra speed or extra bulk and the bulk wins hands down for flexibility over king which still needs a scarf

Both King and Queen need a Mega Evolution today or a change in one of their types.
