A documentary of the car racing career of retired Canadian soldier, Major General Lewis MacKenzie -- shot over his last full season of racing on the Quebec Formula Ford racing circuit in 2011.
The world has always known Lew MacKenzie as a soldier, commander of the NATO forces in Sarajevo in 1992 and a go-to interview on world conflict. Few however, know of his 50 year love affair with car racing.
The General Racing is more that a racing story. It is an insight into the world of F1600 racing, meeting the challenges of a racing season and overcoming obstacles and adversity to succeed.
Most of all, it is a remarkable insight into the other side of Lew MacKenzie the soldier. At age 71, competing and beating drivers more than 50 years younger, Lew Mackenzie -soldier and athlete - is truly one of Canada's national treasures and one of the country's greatest living Canadians.

I had a chance to meet with General Lewis MacKenzie two times at Mosport International Race Track (Toronto, Canada) and I will never forget his handshake that reveal a great personality and a good character. We had a little chat about civil war in my old country, former Yugoslavia, where he served as a commanding officer as part of the United Nations Protection Force. He was one of a kind good fellow and no wonder he is a very successful car racer.
