There were no walls next to the river west of the Guildhall. Until recently the base of the Gunner Tower was visible on Pink Lane. Its been covered over to provide outside sitting for the pub there.
Decades ago there was a lighting shop on Gallowgate (now a restaurant based on Street view) and if you went in and up to the first floor you could see the old wall inside like the buildings had been built directly over the wall and used it as part of their structure.

In the sixties In front of the wall in Bath Lane was used as a car park. I attended Bath Lane College in the early sixties .The wall was behind.

Apparently the foundations of Gunner Tower on Pink Lane are still there today.

Unfortunately, none of the gate towers survive, only the names (eg Sandgate).
I've walked past those walls hundreds of times and never realised what they were!
