@@Noah-gg7wp
I'm fine with some capitalism. The govt doesn't need to be making shirts. But things like healthcare, should be govt run as well as giant corporations like the oil industry; it's a national security issue anyways since economies run on coal, oil ,natural gas. Basic needs like housing, food and healthcare should be mostly decomodified. Businesses that are not co-ops should be mandated to participate with a union.

60k is broke no matter where you are across the country, anyone claiming differently is coping with financial hardship and is too proud to admit it.
true, people want to believe that as long as they don't live in abject poverty they must be middle class. IT keeps people from even recognizing their own interests.
Can confirm. I make just shy of 60k/year. I bought a house with a price that would make most of the country's jaw drop, buuuut inflation has increased faster than my wage so I'm struggling to afford the repairs it needs.
Maybe in a city, but 60k is absolutely not broke in many areas. Although now that I think of it, not in any city either actually. I just full on disagree
Its broke but not on the brink of homelessness some places. If i made that i could afford mental health care and have better quality food for pets. Its a different level of broke than a lot of americans. (Live in midwest)

the risk/cost argument is so stupid.
their risk is not having the company, the owners doesnt personally go bankrupt when their company does

Yes, small business do oppress people too. For starters their workers
The LASIK argument is the dumbest, most American centric thing I've ever heard.
In most countries with a normal (socialized) health care system, it's actually one the only treatments that's not free for some reason. So in almost every other developed country it's actually one of the biggest health costs you can have.
Exactly, as a Brit that argument was WILD

Honestly so annoying how Kirk and his little circle don't allow people to speak. It's just so annoying and it would be cool to see an actual disscussion between the two but Kirk has to fall back on shitty debate tactics. Is he scared to be challenged or what?
Debates are so pointless. They never change anyone's minds, and always end up being a circle jerk of "My GuY iS oWniNg HiM."
He's not looking for an actual debate, he's looking for empowerment. If he talks loud and passionately, it will look like he's right. Then, his followers will think he is winning, and will repeat the nonsense he spews. You can see that he doesn't actually understand any of Hasan's points, just reinforces his own talking points that he had ready before the debate even started. Yes, it would be great if debates like this could be nice and civil, but unfortunately that doesn't exist anymore. It's only gotten worse in the last 10 years because of conservative internet personalities such as Charlie Kirk, and the red pill movement. Their followers only care about "owning the libs" or commies, not actually doing the research for themselves. It's all reactionary, it's sad how many people hate properly educating themselves.
@luked9546 you're have correct. If viewers engage with the opposing arguments made... yeah no you're right. X)
it’s insane to me how little we still emphasize the role of the soviet union and the red army in WW2. 20 million dead and tens of hundreds of miles of land occupied by the Wehrmacht, yet they were able to hold out sieges in both Leningrad and Stalingrad, and defended Moscow before pushing the nazis back permanently.

As a 26 year old in Cali who makes a quarter of 60,000 that is a lot to some people but he is right it's not wealthy or even middle class. There's families of 4 with single income at 50k scraping by so though 60k is a lot of many of us, he isn't wrong. By international standards and accounting for cost of living, anyone under 100 k is kinda broke
Yep, it's the same reason the median and average wage in Australia seems high. We have some extremely high cost of living areas which blow it up. Houses within an hour of Sydney are some of the most expensive vs wages in the world for example. It's 100% relative to what state/city you live in.
60k 6 years ago, you’re doing alright. These days you’re pretty much struggling everywhere with that.
In Australia 60k usd is more than what 85% of the population earn. I earn around 130k so 85-90k usd and I’m in the top 8% of earners but Fkn struggling to keep my family afloat.
Though Australia’s economy is all realestate. If you purchased around 09-12 when America tanked the global economy you’re sweet. Those 300k homes are not worth 1.2-1.6 million
@@lukeneill1568 Broke and poor are not the same thing IMO. He was broke but not poor.

It is worth pointing out that 60k is really good money in many parts of the US, it’s just that in NYC, LA, San Fran, etc, that ain’t sh!t…
Is it? If you looked at average expenses for housing, transportation, healthcare, and groceries, you're already looking at around 55k a year for a single person on average
60k is broke even in small towns, you're barely able to afford a home on an average salary even with rural property value
I’m not making a radical claim here. My claim is very simple: 60k is an amount of money where you can live in relative comfort, as in without having to struggle to get by, to afford the essentials, in multiple areas of the USA. We agree that it’s NOT enough in many areas, increasingly less and less areas, especially urban areas. You can qualify that a million ways, but what you can’t accurately say is that, as a general statement, this claim is factually incorrect.
I always love it when people try to be like "wElL AcShUaLlY" about the nsdap and it having the word socialist in it. Like they completely ignore that they rounded up socialists in concentration camps as well and literally do not follow any socialist principles. It's just like how the CCP has communist in the name but they're 100% capitalist. Conservatives are so focused on facts and logic but are so allergic to thinking more than 5 seconds about anything that they go talks like a duck, but walks like a rabbit, and looks like a rabbit, therefore it must be a duck because it says it's a duck.

Damn. Hell. I learned quite a bit, listening to this. Thanks.
A chatter asked why the Bengal famine isn't attributed to capitalism. It's because it's attributed to colonialism & racism. There is a slight difference there. It had been a bad season for crops, but Bengal still had enough reserves to feed it's people. However, the British HOARDED the crops, while poor Indians (that they exploited on a regular basis btw), were left to die on the streets.
They simply didn't see Indians as human beings deserving of basic necessities & dignity. It was man-made famine, but mostly due to colonisers being horrible people.
I don't remember the exact details or the names, but there was a photographer who took pictures of roads filled with dead people, including children & little babies, all skin & bones, who had died from starvation. The images were so horrid that even the common people of Britain were shocked. That's when the world took notice of one of the worst famines in human history.
Of course, if you ask most British people, they'll be very adamant about this not being true. They love to revise history & act like they did something incredible by giving India railways (makes me laugh each time it's so unserious 💀). They also continue to celebrate Winston Churchill, who was an actual demon. I'd say that man is responsible for probably more death & suffering than some of the worst dictators. They don't teach this stuff in the west though. It's all sunshines and rainbows.
Honestly, it's not like I want the present civilians to do something about the past crimes of the British empire, but it makes my blood boil when they don't acknowledge anything, try to revise history & act like they did great things by oppressing entire groups of people. It's honestly quite insulting.
Anyway, thank you for attending my ted talk. I got carried away with this long comment, but this one is personal. I'm an Indian Bengali & I have ancestors who were affected by these famines.
PS. It was all India back. Now the areas affected by the famine consist of the Indian states of West Bengal, some parts of Orissa, Jharkhand, Bihar & Bangladesh.
Capitalism was built upon the riches, infrastructure, and most of the same principles wrought from colonialism. So I would still consider chalkin that one up to capitalism
@@Spyderinagourd I can definitely see your point & I agree. I just think that when we discuss Bengal famine, the conversation is about acknowledging & taking accountability for past atrocities. This is why capitalism isn't on the forefront of discussions like these. Chalking it up to capitalism distracts from the nuance of the conversation, if that makes sense?
@@AB-ip2ct yeah we agree, they never acknowledge that their position and wealth of today is derived from past exploitation.
