I found that they rust very quickly. Don't burn very efficiently (I only use dry cured wood). The water heater takes an age to get hot. The flu gets blocked very quickly and the metal warps after a season. That being said they are only designed for short term use in disaster hit areas by the un all in all they ar ok but I would steer clear if you are looking for something to last and for over two hundred pound I will be commissioning stoney to make me a stove in the future. Keep up the vids Mr foxy.
Great video, My Brother. Good to see you got out to bazza. That frontier stove keeps looking better everyday. That portable Gazebo makes it nice too, have something to sit under when you get a shower from ol' mother nature. Great video,Paul.
You always find great kit and do really great reviews. You're one of the first guys I subbed and got me interested in bushcraft and doing my own channel. Thanks
definitely getting one of these. I love wood burners and I mainly use my Kelly kettle for compact use but this would be great for a long stay. also, I love the pull through idea with the bog brush, it takes me back to my army days with the white string and copper ends 5x5.
Thanks for the video - I am looking to get one of these stoves as soon as funds permit and seeing it being used in real life helps get an idea of what it is like. 2 comments: 1) You were having problems with the stability of the wok - have you thought about using a handleless one as it seemed to be the handle causing the problems and 2) about the ash grate you saw before - somewhere on the web I saw a modification where someone had cut a grate out of some sort of expanded mesh a couple of millimetres thick that was cut to sit about 2 cm up from the bottom. It could be stored inside with the chimney after use I seem to remember
you should make a insulation jacket for the water tank. It doesnt need to come into contact with the chimney pipe so it doesnt have to be flame proof. cold winter wind against that tank will drain off heat before it will heat up the water. a couple layers of woolen blanket from the jacket you made last winter held in place with a thin metal spring around the chimney parts would do the trick. along the lines of a home hot water heater insulation pack.
I knew it wouldn't be long till you had the water heater mate. Looks ace. The President's kettle might be having a rest or maybe going into retirement! So your brew monitor next time at Bazza. White no sugar for my early morning coffee Mr Fox. "I thank you.." lol
Afternoon Paul .... by jings fella your getting good at these reviews. I have decided that I am going to invest in one in the new year and will include the water heater in my order. I will however avoid the apron!! lol lol take care Paul
Great review paul , well done mate like the idea sombody mentioned in your comments putting a water jacket over the water for the winter ! mmm !!!! is the next BAZZA meet the date 26th october Regards Marty
hey bazza, great bit of kit I would love to come down and do a bit of camping, but I live in Northumberland, this is so up my street I love the out doors, may be one day,,never say never ,Gordon
Hi Paul, Yea that stove is great, should last a lifetime. The water heater fits on it just right. How much water does it hold? Great review and I'll talk to you later. ATB, Steve...
What a fantastic bit of Kit Paul - as you said well thought out - what's the carry weight of it once it is packed away - also whats the COST .. great review - Martyn
Great video, I bought one of these and going to use it for the first time very soon, like your bog brush cleaning solution, almost as good as the stove invention! any hints for fireing the stove?
I have set a 40 ounce stainless steel water bottle on a grate slightly over a fire in winter time and never get it to boil. I dont think it would take much insulation to make it work better. The manufacturer might even pay you for research and development for doing their leg work.
how much is the water heater in $usd and are they available in the usa I would like to put the water heater on mu Dickinson stove that I have in my cabin cruiser,,
Sorry for late reply, the stove is brilliant, they sell for around £135 for the basic stove. Then if you want the water heater it's about £80 Hope this helps Paul
Why did you remove the plate on the top when you put the kettle and wok on? It would be more than hot enough with it still in place and also stop your stuff getting all black and shitty from the fire. Your wok also has a flat bottom too which would have worked better with the flat top of the stove. Good stoves though, not sure about the heater, can't see that it is any better than heating water in a pot. Not very multi functional either for its weight and cost.
It seems to have a very inefficient burn, Lots of smoke. Then lots of soot in the flue ? That shows an inefficient burn. or the fire burning too cool ? But great for a temp' camp stove . Occasional use. Maybe it needs to be designed more like a Rocket stove ?
Not a bad stove but not durable in the long run. Saving weight by taking thin material has his toll. There are today much better stoves, like the G stove...

If you set up your flu pipes on the ground with a up hill angle , put paper in and light , it will clean out the chimney pipes for you.
Thanks for the information
Paul
Nice review Foxy :-)
You are welcome
Great video, I bought one of these and going to use it for the first time very soon, like your bog brush cleaning solution, almost as good as the stove invention!
