Great video as always! Only suggestion I have (as I am currently in Madrid and needed this information) is to also describe what the 1 journey ticket process is as it is a little more confusing than the 10 ticket journey. It wasn’t clear to me whether I could transfer using the same ticket and I nearly had a heart attack when the fare inspectors stopped me (at the first station) haha!. In any case your videos are super helpful for trip planning. Thank you!
Thank you! We really see no reason why 99,9% of visitors to Madrid would want to purchase a single ticket, that's why we haven't given more attention to it. The tickets we've described don't include transfers - unlike what happens in Barcelona.
Tony, thanks for your tips. We bought a multicard at the airport (and back). It was indeed very easy eventhough we are a little bit older (64). Also thank you for the tips where we could find delicious food. We ate at Yerbuena and VI Cool. It were the best meals we had in Madrid. We spent 4 full days in Madrid and we have seen a lot
I saw both guides for Multi Card and T-Mobility and I really find it unnecessarily complicated. The videos are really clear but I really hope they can consider a simpler way of taking payment without multiple categories of tickets.
Thanks so much for the essential information of Spain for my frist time I will travel around. Metrobús 10 viajes that load to the Multi card have to use in the day of purchase only, am I right? Thanks again
Do I have a question I like watching your videos? I think your videos are very good and teaching us and learning things I plan to go to Spain for a whole month I plan on staying the first three days in Madrid then go to Barcelona and then to Valencia from then on I will rent a car. My question is the first 10 days. I will not have a car in between Madrid and Barcelona, I will not have a carand we are a family of four. I was wondering what best card do you recommend for us to be going to places and traveling around and going from red Madrid to Barcelona thank you for your time. I appreciate it.
Hi, on this video we explain how to pay for public transport in Madrid. Here you will find the same explanation for Barcelona th-cam.com/video/HbJzpyxLCzg/w-d-xo.html Your choice will depend on the location of your accommodation which, in turn, will define how many transport trips you will complete.
Thanks Tony Great work. Can you clarify how to get from the Madrid airport to hotel Principe Pio by the airport Bus at the beginning of March please. Jess UK
Hi Jess, the airport bus won't get you anywhere near the hotel. If you are traveling with luggage, take a taxi or a ridesharing service. If you want to take the metro, here we point the way: th-cam.com/video/Z8EU5rjmvGo/w-d-xo.html This coming Sunday we are publishing an up-to-date video on how to leave the airport.
@@jessrayat under 10mins, including getting out of the Metro station. The airport bus does two stops, the first at Cibeles Fountain, final at Atocha Station, both are on the other side of the city centre to where you want to be. D
This guide is really helpful! The children fares are not so clear to me: we have a 5 years old boy: does he need to pay for the Metro like an adult? Or the Children's card is valid also for children that are in Madrid just for an holiday? Thank you for your help.
I have an important question. On 10:38 with the new machine it says „Metrosur ticket“ "metronorte ticket“ and „Metroeste ticket“ so does that mean that I can't take a ride with Metrosur when I bought Metronorte? Or what does that mean?
Thank you very much for the information! If I buy my multi-card at the airport after I land, will it automatically add on the 3 euro supplemental charge?
Hello, one question to ask.. if 4 of us traveling from Madrid airport to city, we need to buy 2 multicards because each only can add 2 airport transfer, am I correct?
Can one tourist ticket on one multi card be used by two people? I thought multi card can be used by more than one person but not sure if the tourist card can be.
Hi Tony.. if we take a transfer from one metro to another, will I pay for 2 trips or is it counted as one trip? Also if I take a bus and metro for one journey will I spend one ticket or 2 tickets? Also is the C3 or c4b Parla trains included with metrobus tickets which is run by Cercanius?
Hello, so does the multi card work for both the Bus (above ground, on the streets) AND the metro (below ground, i think a train) at the same time. Or does the multi card only work for one or the other
Multicard works for all the means of transport in the city of Madrid. Where you can use it will depend on the tickets loaded in the card. Metrobus allows you to use the metro and the buses.
Once i arrive at barajas airport, do i have to get the « airport » multicard and then buy a « metrobus » multicard later to travel in the city, or i can get from the airport to the city with a metrobus multicard ?
I plan to take the Renfe Cercanias train from Madrid airport to Atocha then change to a metro to reach my hotel. I also plan to travel around Madrid to sightsee. Would it be good if I buy the Tarjeta multi card at the airport, then add the Renfe train ticket inside? Is this the way to do it?
thanks as usual for your helpful videos - I do have a question though as we typically like using the metro in cities but also use buses. In this one you talked about the 10 metrobus so I'm assuming can only be used on buses - is that correct? If we want to use both transport systems, which one should we be buying as saw your video on titulo turitico - does this mean we need to buy that one instead? thanks for clarifying
The video is about zone A tickets but I will have my place in zone B1, so I will need to load A zones tickets AND B1 zones tickets to get around. Will the system be able to deduct the right tickets ?
Hi Toni, Thank you so much for all your information as it is by far the best! We will be visiting Spain in May and will travel from Valencia to Madrid via high speed train. Our friends live just outside of Madrid. They have told us to take train line C7 or C2 from Chamartin and get off at La Garena station. So am I right in thinking when we buy our multi-card, we will need to buy tickets for 2 zones (Zone A & B3)? We will probably only use the train 2 or 3 times whiles we are there because they will be taking us around. Thanks so much for your help, MaryAnn
Hello, as explained on the video, the Multi Card cannot be used on the trains unless you purchase a Tourist Ticket. You will have to buy a Renfe&Tú card and you will pay for each specific trip you take. All the best.

Nice to mention would also be the App "Tarjeta Transporte" which allows the holder of a Tarjeta Multi to top up with the mobile phone. None the less I still have a question. Sometimes I would need to travel to Majadahonda, which is in the B2 zone if I understand correctly. is it possible to have tickets for Zone A and A-B2 on the same card, or do i need two Multicards?
Thank you, we will talk about the app once it allows you to validate your trip with it. We believe you cannot have different zone cards at the same time, as the machine wouldn't be able to tell which one to use, but ask any attendant at any metro station, they will surely be able to give you a definite answer not that.
If I have leftover rides in my Tarjeta multi card, can I have a refund on that? Or it works like the Barcelona T-mobilitat card where there is no refund.
Beware Multicard is NOT accepted on the green buses that serve the airport. We paid 14 Euros only to be turned down flat by the driver. Hope this helps prevent others getting fleeced.
