The public transportation in Taiwan is the best in the world. Reasonable price, clean, great service and fast. The bento box is sooooo good too and the pork chop and tofu skin is my favorite!!

Almost every drink(not sure about this one) shop in Taiwan allows you to adjust the sweetness. Just tell them if you want it with less sugar or less ice.

I was going to recommend you try the teahouse Chun Shui Tang on Siwei St. It is the origin of bubble tea. But unfortunately it is under renovation til Dec. 20😢
The HSR is great. I took it all the way to Penhu southern tip Hengchun 恆春 and enjoyed the famous Kenting National Park 墾丁國家公園. Hope you enjoy the foods down in Taichung. Be careful with the local gangs. Taichung county is infamous for gang activities, which has the largest prison population in the island. When I visited my aunt there she imposed curfew on us because criminals run the streets at sundown.
