I don't like NASCAR anymore, the rules are stupid,dirt track racing is where its at. Fans don't sit on the edge of their seat hoping for a wreck. Dirt races aren't won because someone didn't have enough gas to finish or ran over an air hose
So True. I have won dirt races on less than half the "budget" of some of the other guys in my class. NASCAR has lost its way. It's all about the money today.

Andy Petree said before the current car, RCR was spending $3,500 per front A-arm. That's $14,000 invested in 4 A-arms & then add spindle uprights, steering arms, tie rods etc adds another $10--$15,000 to the front end alone. Childress stated 15 or 20 years ago that it cost him %250,000 per car just to show up at the track! Regardless of how much you win, you always lose $$$$ racing. NASCAR is where everybody can make a decent living IF one can get there. The current cup cars are the closest to a factory production car that they've been in 50 years. The "one source" cars give the little guys a chance, as proven by 16 different race winners so far this year. "Racing is a rich man's sport that every poor bastard wants to participate in!"

I would inform them that they will not be guaranteed any starting spots next year and they would have to qualify in for every race also the money they receive would not be on par with chartered teams ! And maybe we get lucky and they just go away!

I’ve been a Nascar fan for nearly 50 years. Grew up in N.C went to Wilksboro track all the time. I’ve been to many of the big tracks and it’s always been sold out. All the camping spots full and it was so much fun. But the last 20 years it seems like Nascar has been doing their best to ruin the sport.

I do feel a bit sorry for Jordan, NASCAR whined and dined him and many others to come into the sport to help it grow again. Now he came in dropped a forklift of cash, but up a top tier team only to find out he got played, he’s not making money. Maybe Wallace can get Hamlin's ride from JOE GIBBS RACING. That's only fair HAMLIN hasn't helped anyone but himself. If they don't have drivers then they don't have to pay them, make sure of sponsors, and making sure they are in their best cars. So who benefits. Hamlin only he wins both ways he partners in one team while races for another and earns money has good car's, while their Drivers aren't sure of their future. Who have you ever helped besides yourself! Life's not fair so grow up! Hamlin's not going anywhere. Gibbs & Toyota had to OK the deal to create 23/XI or it wouldn't have happened. One can't get sponsorship for a team that has no driver & many corporations sponsor a team because of the driver & stay with the driver even if he switches teams. Hamlin is prepping for his retirement from driving, which will happen in the near future because he's already past the age of productivity for most drivers. 40 is about it in today's racing! Maybe you should try to keep up instead of openly showing your jealousy & ignorance!!!

I think NASCAR is screwing the teams with the new Charter agreement, teams are forced to purchase cars and parts from NASCAR’s list of parts suppliers and spend Millions each year just to race in the series . It’s “ sign the agreement or we’ll make it real hard on you”. I think Tony Stewart saw the writing on the wall and left while he could. Maybe MJ has enough cash to challenge NASCAR to change the specifications of the agreement.

You CAN compete in Cup w/out a charter. You just don't get nearly as much money from various sources, and priority goes to the 36 charter teams.
10% of the field is open to non-charter teams. The ONLY reason NASCAR even gets 36 cars at every race is because the charter agreement dictates they MUST show up at every race! Only a couple races per year where 40 or more cars show up. When the economy sucks, sponsors don't have the $$$$$ to spend & neither do the fans. EVERYTHING is too high priced right now for the amount of "disposable" income for luxury items that most can afford. I live near Las Vegas so I see it first hand. entertainment is the first to go when ya gotta buy food & make a house payment.

The failure of the 23XI team ownership to sign the new charter agreement, may indicate a bigger issue than team driver contracts. If the team owner fails to reach an agreement with the sanctioning organization, then sponsorship dollars will go away pretty quickly. When that funding stream dries up, shops close and race teams fold up. However, sign the new charter agreement, get this new flow of sponsorship money and the dividends of this new race broadcast contract, and go racing. I guess we will see how it all plays out. JMO
I think Jordan and Hamlin did the right thing. They need to get all the other teams to join and fight for what they deserve and need to operate teams, not just breaking even. They need to make money too.
Get your facts right, there are 4 open spots for non charter teams to compete in the races. You can compete in the Cup Series without a charter , but the payout is less than if you have a charter.
The name of the Team is 2311. #23 for Michaels former jersey # and 11 for Dennys # on his race car.

You aren't old enough to remember that Abreu went NASCAR with the same team that Larson started with and when he transferred out of the K&N series to the trucks he was at best a mid pack driver. But went back to Sprint Cars and did real well, but of course he was racing the same equipment and crew chief Larson has now and the next season or so he was just not the top level team he was before Aaaannnd along came Ricky Warner from the Donny Shatz team and we know how good they were together he's winning again and has racked up a couple of Crown Jewel races this season and they are starting to make a good team. Now if he can keep Warner we'll see what happens then.

A charter in nascar is nothing like a charter in other sports. Who in their right mind would make the investment necessary to field a successful nascar race team on a less than permanent committment with little or no voice in the operations. This is the only time that I have congratulated Denny Hamblin and it's only because Michael Jordan knows how to win for the long term.
