If audio quality matters to you DO NOT BUY THIS! It uses aux to send audio. The newer boxes use the cars MOST cable which is fibre optic. There's a massive difference in sound quality.
Only one I have been able to find that uses MOST is the Mr12Volt interface. This is the MMI box type unit, not a full Android replacement screen. It seems to have great revies and Evolve UK sell it too. I've ordered one for myself so will see how it is when I get it installed. None of the Android screens use MOST, all seem to be aux as far as I can find.
I think they’re both great! I think the Andream unit is great if your screen is in bad condition, scratched up or etc. but the MMI is a solid option if you want to keep your OEM touch
@samh9631 mine just worked without the AUX cord it's 2009 e92 not sure if there different did you move the optical cable to the new harness. If you keep looking on TH-cam there are heaps of videos on it

you can still access the iDrive menu with this CarPlay unit. I’m not 100% on specifics since it was installed in a 335D, not an M3 but we were still able to access all the menus
@@IzzyE9X thanks for the response. I'm just about ready to order mine but I was wondering if you can make like a 5 min video of the idrive system of just how it looks, like the settings, vehicle info, oil level etc
doing a comparison is tough, in my opinion: the screen is pretty great because it gives you full android software, access to full apps and most importantly a touchscreen. this is great if your factory screen is damaged or has issues. I’m not extremely familiar with how in depth the mmi boxes can go in terms of features, so I’d give that win overall to a replacement screen, however there are a lot of brands out there that produce low quality CarPlay screens that can be glitchy/buggy. Andream seems to be pretty great, I’ve had one of their screens in my E92 for years now and not many issues besides the Bluetooth CarPlay can be very finicky.
You didn’t unplug the battery only the IBS and there is a torque spec for the nut that holds that cable on and if not torqued correctly it will bend the plate and cause damage. That will cost you a couple hundred bucks if done wrong. The battery terminal you should have unplugged is the ground and that is completely open and easy to access for a reason.

The Mr12volt unit does. It's a MMI box type unit though rather than a full Android replacement screen. As far as I can tell it's the only product that does.
