I’ve had one installed on my e90 for about 9 months and it’s brilliant. Google maps sat nav, Spotify and the JB4 app all work brilliant. Well worth the money!!!
Kyle Durkin I’d try and find why your existing one isn’t working first. Could be a fuse or on some models they stupidly put the idrive module under the spare wheel compartment where it can fill with water and damage it

Seems like a great upgrade for people with the more reliable 03/2007+ CCC system. It is a bit pricey at $600 with the most adapter required for logic 7 and individual audio cars. Please do a six month update with the current status of the system.

Weirdly also... this Seicane Android 9 unit for a 2009 335i Convertible does not have an off button and constantly stay on causing a power drain fault error code. And it does not have fader/balance controls, but rather only equalizer available.
The one thing I’m most curious about regarding this install would have to be; does the original iDrive system still work? Will I still maintain my original built in nav functionality ON TOP of the newly added functions?
Had one of these professionally fitted to my 2013 x3. iDrive is unchanged - just better resolution. I have mine set up to go to CarPlay on a nav request (setable in the Android shell). If I want HUD directions I’ll add as destination before I go to CarPlay. I hardly use the Android shell at all. To get back to iDrive is just a long press on menu.
I ordered this product because of this video. I got super excited for it. After getting it installed, it's clear they did not give me the same one as in this video. The operating system on the one I got is absolutely awful. I bought the model that he linked in the description

There are two other versions out there one with android 4.4.4 and 7.1, we'd need to verify you ended up with the 8.1 version and not 4.4.4. All the BMW guys I know just shop for an E series without nav, so there isn't iDrive.... but this changes the game with the ability to view MHD gauges in the factory display. So much win.... keep up the good work.

sounds stupid, but yes. Don't know why they didn't manage to do the connection directly to the CCC unit and not passing stupid AUX plug under the armrest. Anyway the is a cable going from the armrest to the CCC unit...
how is the sound quality vs stock? did you need opt fiber cable my car has fac aux. can you still check oil and all settings from the radio? by the way great vids!!!!!
The video is great? Am I right to assume the iDrive on the console is how you are navigating through the menu? Also, are you using the original radio and just replacing the screen? My system is exactly what your showing in your video but navigation quit loading on my unit and the whole thing shuts down and reboots about every 3 minutes.

i have the old one too. you did remove too much and for the most people is the hardest to get the aux cable connected to the armrest. most people understand that this part is a msut to get sound and in discreption this part no detailed write down. for a new unit i would do it too. in german, maybe in english with less removing. i have conntect a wireless rear camera too. but nice to see the new generation. is the display changed to see all in sun yet too? carplay too. wifi carplay must come in these units....
Yes you just scroll over to where it says original car and it'll provide a feed of your stock CCC navigation. You could also long press the menu button to switch back and forth.

Tempted to buy from Seicane for my f12.. I feel like there are a bunch of negative videos out there, but this video was really helpful... PLUS it's on a BMW. When you start up does it do anything odd? For example I just like how my OEM screen does the normal bmw screen menu. Hello i have a question, im from holland and ordered and installed a navigation screen but now my idrive knob is over responsive in the homescreen the moments in between the clicks while spinning even shows movement on the homescreen and i dont know what to do. But no problems when switching back to the original screen
I'm having a similar problem with mine. However the I drive knob works fine with the android screen just not when I switch back to the Ccc system. Did you manage to get yours working?? Woukd he great if you could let me know what you did.
@@lesleysinnaeve3225 yes I got it working fine. You have to go into system setting and change the display output. I can't remember which one I had to select. I just tried it until the right one worked. However I did get the I drive knob to working perfectly in the end.
@@mradamball thanks for your response. I have contacted some android dealers over here in Belgium. They told me that the canbus the manufacturer provided me is not good. I also have sos failure, no sound from pdc, etc... so i guess i have to go back to my stock navigation and i will have to look further for some good quality navigation... it’s sad, a waste of 300 bucks.
You can buy these from aliexpress.com that's where I got my past two android radios from. They typically get shipped via DHL. However, warranty in this case can be tricky so bear that in mind.
Hey man, great install video. Looks a lot easier than I would have imagined. Questions though: I have an 08 E92 with CCC nav, and my MULF module is fried, so the USB and AUX in in the center console don't work. Do you know if this system is bypassing the MULF making it unnecessary, or do you think I would have problems with the AUX/USB with this setup as well? My CCC control knob and head unit work fine otherwise.

My big issue with these products is that you still need to tether your mobile to it for any internet access. Is there a way around it? This would make this product truly 100%

Thanks. Yeah I've used it to log with MHD, works well. The DAC on this model is good, sounds nice. It's only the early models with Android 4.4.4 that don't sound good but I don't see why this wouldn't support a USB DAC if you wanted.
Its a nice upgrade, but my goodness, the deconstruction alone opens up a scary world or mistakes. So many clips you can break, screws you can forget, wires you can leave less than snug. You basically have to take apart the entire interior of your car.
May i ask a question, after installation everything goes well, but the cic does work and the idrive buttons also not synchronised with it. With your experiences what is the problem. Thanks

Thanks, all that is still there via the original pass through. You just click original car and it takes you back to CCC so you can deal with all the usual menu options.
I really want to get one of these for my e92 but all of the wiring worries me, I know nothing about car electrics or wiring and this looks very complicated to me sadly. It's a real shame because I really like the look of the unit and the features it has over the standard ccc unit I have right now.

Welcome. I have a big request. Would you be able to get the software from this radio? I have identical to the bad software loaded. I do not have any brochures with a guarantee or a brand in the box (that it is seicane but I may have the same instructions) as you, but I have the same box as in your video, the menu was identical and the location of the connectors is identical and the outside appearance of the front of the radio (holes on the sides of the screen ). I am looking for software everywhere to no avail :(

Will do, I have logic 7 and did not require a most adapter for install. Your fiber optic cable just moves over to the new harness.

Is the main sounds source traveling through the aux. If so that is a huge bottleneck for the sound quality.

I just have the base head unit, you technically do not need any of the options. If you want a reverse camera you can get a wireless transmitter etc.

What's your suggestion for people whose idrive has died? Just get a Android headunit and leave the idrive screen as a redundant feature?

Hey man, great install video. Looks a lot easier than I would have imagined. Questions though: I have an 08 E92 with CCC nav, and my MULF module is fried, so the USB and AUX in in the center console don't work. Do you know if this system is bypassing the MULF making it unnecessary, or do you think I would have problems with the AUX/USB with this setup as well? My CCC control knob and head unit work fine otherwise.

Does it work with logic 7 sound system? Im concerned because it uses optical cables. Oh and what about If i get car notification, for example engine malfunction, will that android system display that kind of measages?

My big issue with these products is that you still need to tether your mobile to it for any internet access. Is there a way around it? This would make this product truly 100%

Hello. Very interesting video. I also saw your Android Auto video. Really nice. I wanted to ask if I have to do something to startup the android headed menu by something like pressing or holding a key. Have seen something here on another video. Or is it showing up the android headed menu directly after firing up the car?
Another question is if there is a way to come back to the original menu of BMW when the technicians need it?

Awesome reviews, love the channel. 2 questions though, have you tried it for logging with MHD? Regarding the audio quality, would a USB DAC work? I've seen the spec sheet says the USB ports support OTG
Thanks. Yeah I've used it to log with MHD, works well. The DAC on this model is good, sounds nice. It's only the early models with Android 4.4.4 that don't sound good but I don't see why this wouldn't support a USB DAC if you wanted.
Do you need to connect the trigger wire for the rear camera so that it will display on the screen when put in reverse ?
It happens through Can bus so it happens seamlessly.
Its a nice upgrade, but my goodness, the deconstruction alone opens up a scary world or mistakes. So many clips you can break, screws you can forget, wires you can leave less than snug. You basically have to take apart the entire interior of your car.
How do you keep the software updated to keep up with auto updates on your android phone?

Nice installation video but lacking essential info on functionality...Can you check "Engine Oil Level"? Or view the "Check Control Message"? How about "Climate Control Settings"? Will it display "Malfunction Messages" in real time?

Thanks, all that is still there via the original pass through. You just click original car and it takes you back to CCC so you can deal with all the usual menu options.

Hi I installed my unit same as yours but for the factory setting it is saying no signal and I get no radio or I drive control can u help
I really want to get one of these for my e92 but all of the wiring worries me, I know nothing about car electrics or wiring and this looks very complicated to me sadly.
It's a real shame because I really like the look of the unit and the features it has over the standard ccc unit I have right now.

Welcome. I have a big request. Would you be able to get the software from this radio? I have identical to the bad software loaded. I do not have any brochures with a guarantee or a brand in the box (that it is seicane but I may have the same instructions) as you, but I have the same box as in your video, the menu was identical and the location of the connectors is identical and the outside appearance of the front of the radio (holes on the sides of the screen ). I am looking for software everywhere to no avail :(
