May 08 2024 ... just an FYI ... I finally did a factory reset of my old radio, I figured if it messed everything up I'll just get a new one. Well it worked! The radio did a complete factory reset and everything worked as it did when it was new. All the buttons functioned as normal and it still is a radio lol. That said however I think I will order a newer unit, the original one will not do any updates anymore. My car is still mint and because of covid mileage is low. It deserves a new(er) radio ... again thank you for y our help .... really would like to see more videos as you have done in the past ... you both are very entertaining and knowledgeable 👍
That USB cord is so you can sync up with the aftermarket radio from your phone or other devices , the USB for it is located beneath the radio console near the drivers foot you have to remove the plastic panel and it’s somewhere in there , I saw this from another install video , what it’ll do is let the usb that’s in the center console now connect with the radio , I’m not a expert but I believe that’s what it did
Solid video. I just installed this on my 2017 focus se Ecoboost. First piece with the passenger air bag sensor was the hardest to remove. minimal clearance for clip unfastening. All plug and play, even with an aftermarket amp and sub after that. People looking to do this, check the back up camera feed before final install. Both aux yellow cords are labeled in Chinese, one tells only truths, one tells only lies! And do yourself a favor and install the correct bracket that connects the shifter panel and the console panel to the top of the shifter them shimmy it under the console for an easy finish install. Also recommend Novalaucher to have a basic tablet home screen. Thanks for the video, this helped more than you know

Date March 13 - 2024 ... I have had this radio in my Focus for several years now... was inspired by your videos. The radio still works, however, some of the functions no longer work like the home button and the view what apps are open button. Also I can no longer download apps. It just goes into a pending loop and nothing happens. I have tried several methods to trouble shoot, but nothing works. My question is: have you done a complete Factory reset? On the Android level! and if so does the radio return to being a radio or is it just a tablet after the reset? I can't seem to find an answer on line. I have done the factory reset for the radio itself and it basically does nothing. Your help is greatly appreciated.
We have never done a factory reset. So not sure exactly what would happen. There is someone in the Facebook groups that sells firmware to upgrade these. (Haven't gotten it) but that might be a good route to try. Otherwise, you can try to do the reset and if it fails an upgrade would be in line. I ended up getting a newer version radio.

The dash inside I believe is the same... or only has slight differences, the radio came with some adaptors presumably for differing years. Not 100% on all the info as they leave out instructions.
How is the sound quality from the unit? I know the factory unit sucks, had to reprogram mine for a more flat eq as it was factory built to have a rediculous amount of bass, most of it going to the back speakers, most of the treble went to the front tweeters. It's better now but not great
So I'm going to do a how it works sort of video soon on this. Both are items that I need to talk about but here is the general gist of it. Bluetooth is easily "conneted"... yup that's a thing. However, it is a bit glitchy and I'm unsure why and its range is poor. As for GPS you have a couple options and 0 involve paying more money. First and more complicated is to mirror your mobile device on it, for which I find stupid. The better option is to connect to a wifi network and sign in to your google account, then download an app such as NAVFREE or Waze. Those don't require an active signal.
Just letting you know you have got plastic blocking up all the ventilation holes which will eventually cause an overheat. I had a unit DOA due to this.
I installed the same stereo in my 2012 ford focus, but the steering wheel and volume controls don't work. My car seems to be missing one wiring harness. The back of the stereo has a harness with two white, two grey, and two purple wires, but my car has nothing to connect it to. Any ideas how I can get my buttons working?
@@mcnamara3439 No. I think you could rewire the single harness into two different ones if you were determined, but I just went through the settings on the touch screen stereo and turned on a little widget that allows me to control the volume using the touch screen.
This is a copy and paste from a focus forum and it worked for me. “I had to dive into the electrics etc and it took some testing but I've got a fix. The connecter that goes to the original display (C2ME04, Multi function display harness 14401) has two pins for the SWC (on pin 7 and 10). If you look into the original connector you can see the pins and the numbers 1 and 7 next to them. As colors vary in the Android wires it is best to just see for yourself what wire connects to the pin 7. From the new cable that connects to the origional screen connector and to the Android system you have to cut the wire that connects to that pin 7 (pin 10 doesn't work in my case and I could leave it unchanged). In my case the wire ran to the new CAM module. I've cut it between the connector and cam module and then connected the "Key 1" wire to it.
Carl Cobon, I actually really like it. You really only gain features with this if all you have to start is a base system like I did. It can be frustrating however and I'll be going over that in the review video I hope to make soon.

Dash is the same, the radio bezel is provided in the kit is molded to the tablet already. I say install yourself it's not hard, just take your time. I couldn't give you a quote on anyone installing it.

I have one as well Seicane was my brand and I am looking for aftermarket of the ford sync conversion with the touch screen. Android auto and Apple car play I think are the cheat code because then everything runs from your phone and you get all the functionality you want. I want to make sure I have wireless android auto in my case though.
what do you mean by the first part? This kit is virtually plug-and-play with all the adaptors it comes with. I am still learning the device even after all this time, however. The maps require an app such as NAVFREE that does not require data to run.

Patrick Stocken I really like it, especially over stock. It should connect to the stock backup cam. I dont have one that I can test but it has cables and says it should.

I mean you will hear the noise if you are too close to something, but the LCD screen does not show which side of the car is too close. Park assist system will also not work, simple you will not see the instructions. +1: I have a nightmare seeing my car burning due to these 'fancy but not-so-deeply-tested' Chinese systems.
My son and I replaced his radio.in a 2014 ford focus sedan with a 7" kenwood unit. We are having an issue that the battery drains down. I call Metra about the wiring they said its wired correctly but we had to reset the vehicle using OEM radio. Did you have to do the same or any other issues? Any advice thank you
Overall, how long would you say it took to install? - I wanna have an idea on how long it would take the local Audio Shop guys to install it. I got mine from Phoenix Android Radios for my 2012 Focus SEL, but I have MINIMAL audio equipment install knowledge and don't want to have issues or break something.
If it's a decent shop they should be able to do it rather quickly. It's all pretty much plug and play as you can see in the video. I'd say an hour or less. Just for the love of all things don't let them install that black speaker.
I've heard that it is very difficult. Basically, you need to find one from a scrap yard and pull the entire wiring harness. I've never done it and that is only what I have heard from others. Just doesn't seem worth it.
Awesome thanks a lot, I've found out that the cable with the RGB sticker on is for the connector of the Sync 2 (APIM plug, the 54 pin), I have the Sync 2 and I can't use the plug for the 4" display (The one with the locking mechanism), the "RGB" cable plugs in the APIM connector of the car and the 4" connector of the radio, without this cable the screen can't have brightness but the radio would work
@@humzaabdul-haqq6536 sounds like it could just be defective. I'd say get ahold of the retailer and get it swapped out. If you hooked it all up it should be on. You should see the loading screen

Sounds like it could be overheating. Did you remove the plastic covers from the back. A viewer pointed that out and I removed what I could. Could maybe put small fan in. I haven't had it overheat on me yet. 🤞

I should have recorded it but not much to say about the install apart from you will have to cut a plastic backing. This one sites further back then the slanted version.
The other site to order these types of radios is caller PhoenixAndroidRadios.com thats where i got mine a year ago still new like day 1 no issues. They have them for so many cars so go check them out.
My car had the sync system and this replaces most of those features, no preset text responses but it has all the controls and Bluetooth calling. Sync is kind of a sucky system anyway.

Also if you didnt know with this radio there is not a remote wire for an amp so you have to run a fuse tap just so you know.
There actually is. It isn't labeled but it's the grey wire coming out of the RCA plug group. That video will be coming out soon.

The GPS works through plastic you could have kept inside and mounted it on the inside above.

Yup, maps starts up and runs with music playing no problem.
So what about the hazard lights and unlock button?
They work just fine.
Can you change the look of the setup of the apps and stuff like that and change background and is it Bluetooth

Unfortunately I cant help with that, the radio in the video didn't have that issue at all.
Out of Line Garage looks like it was just a bad battery. It was not even 6 months old. Replaced it seems good so far.

No, the system is different. You just have to get your year specific version where the lock/unlock are located on the door.

I did the conversion to facelift a little while ago but up until I sold it, yes, it was great.
Would this work with the non-sync system in the focus?
The new head unit replaces the entire system. So if you don't have sync to begin with you will have bluetooth when this is installed.

@@humzaabdul-haqq6536 sounds like it could just be defective. I'd say get ahold of the retailer and get it swapped out. If you hooked it all up it should be on. You should see the loading screen
I installed my screen 6months ago ...worked great for 6 mons and now its crashing everyday after 20 mins on....does anyone know what might be the cause.?
Sounds like it could be overheating. Did you remove the plastic covers from the back. A viewer pointed that out and I removed what I could. Could maybe put small fan in. I haven't had it overheat on me yet. 🤞
@@OutOfLineGarage I installed a similar unit into one of my cars and I installed a small fan on the back of it in order to take out the hot air and it made it work better

HumbleHunter, It's all pretty straight forward. Do you have the cam bus (that black box) plugged in correctly?) That's what helps talk to the radio. I'll try to get a pic of the back of it for you soon. It will be posted on our Facebook. I have to take it out anyway.

You would have to find one for your specific model. Yours being the MK2 I don't believe the dash is the same.

My car had the sync system and this replaces most of those features, no preset text responses but it has all the controls and Bluetooth calling. Sync is kind of a sucky system anyway.
