The fact that the Hibernating Bear set (Brass Beast, Buffalo Steak, Warrior's Spirit) is actually somewhat effective in MvM is immensely funny to me.
Tbh Steak + Warrior's spirit is my last resort if my teammate doesnt do much damage on tank or literally ignore the tank
Maybe that's why it was made
Who would've guessed that items in a set have synergy
almost every weapon which is considered bad in normal tf2 is good in mvm
And the worst combo for casual
Note:
Unlike every other class, the Heavy cannot get a straight damage upgrade to his primary weapon. He only gets firing speed upgrades
Medic cant get too
@@bet3240 Yes but if you think that battle medic is a viable strategy, you're a fucking hipster. The heavy is literally designed to mow down robots and or players.
@@Petrovich-sh7pi battle medic isnt viable, but it doesnt mean you dont need to use and upgrade your syringe guns
@@bet3240 Until we get a tier list for medic, we may never know
@@Petrovich-sh7pi what? You dont need a tier list to know the crossbow is semi redundant, that the syringes are a good way to save yourself when your team is bad and that you can actually aid in killing tanks and giants if you get just a couple of upgrades on it
they should make it to were you can upgrade the crit time for the KGB, that sounds like a good way to put in A tier
Yes
[everyone liked that]
and maybe a damage upgrade. not as much as demoknight but maybe something like 3 or 4 ticks of 15% damage increase. the fact that heavy cant one shot soldier bots is actually a huge deal and makes boxing heavy much weaker.
depending on how much money I'd argue S tier, it would be really good but also the fun type of broken
2 upgrades of +1 extra seconds of crit on kill, what do you say folks?
One thing you didn't mention with the brass beast: You can also offset the speed penalty with movement speed upgrades.
That's not exactly true, minigun with max movement speed is crasy fast and even allows you to dodge rockets at mid range. Brass beast has -60% movement speed and this is huge. I dislike playing with it because any knockback heavy robots force me to unrev and run back into the fight. Minigun allows me to play around that.
@@micha4940 Fair enough. Just saying that maxing out movement speed puts you back at basically normal normal speed with a 20% damage boost. I've done this and barely notice a difference.
@@micha4940 Hello, i am you but with an S instead of a C
I tried this earlier and didn't notice anything, idk if it affects ur speed while revved up
@@noobtube1323 Iirc movespeed does affect rev speed as well, it should be more noticeable on stock though since the Brass Beasf slows you so much trying to fix it is just a waste of money.
Valve really killed the Eviction Notice if you ask me, aside from the annoying health drain they don't do bleed damage despite the fact that they're equipped with spikes.

The shotguns are viable if being used in conjunction with brass beast, so that way you can deal mobile damage whilst on the go...
I’ve seen that used in casual, which I won’t deny is a fun and effective strategy (my favorite heavy loadout), but you shouldn’t be unrevving in MvM, and if you do, you should end up far away enough to revv again, even with the Brass Beast. I do love that loadout though, it’s really fun
I also like to use it with the Huo Long in case I run out of ammo since I don't like to stay still next to the dispenser. And I do like to shoot on the move like you mentioned. lol
I usually use B. B. with Family Business for when I run out of primary ammo and the dispenser was destroyed or is very far. But never as a big damage dealer.
Why would you use the shotgun with the brass beast when you are literally gonna be revved 99% of the time with even the tomislav. You unrev when you run out of ammo and if that happened something has gone horribly wrong.
@@ultimaterecoil1136 You only wanna rev if you have a place you wanna hold down, only if you have a medic/dispenser to hold up. And if someone runs away from you, a shotgun allows you to be able to do SOMETHING. If you were to EVER get caught off guard with the Brass Beast, a shotgun will always makes sure you’re not a literal sitting duck.
I used the Huo Long heater for 3 months now I found dont buy the Firing speed instantly but buy the increase ammo Cap and health on kill if you have enough it chewed ammo quick because of the firing speed so buy that later waves. It is also somewhat good with dealing small bots that are melees or scouts just sit on the bomb and they just going to run into your fire like Saturday Afternoon or just rev up at their drop zone where 99% of the time see at your team instead the one heavy below them. The Main goal in mind when using the Huo Long Heater is You BodyBlock the Giants
Isn’t the firing speed increase bugged? I heard only the first 2 upgrades work.
@@nicolasrage1104 isnt that sentry firing rate? Idk sometimes i always mixed up with other bugs
@@z.i.p.w9467 yeah, for the sentry firing speed, when unwrangled only 1 upgrade has an effect and 2 while wrangled
@@nicolasrage1104 2 lvl just don't work. U still have +10% firing speed increase, then 3 and 4 works fine.
With tomislav all works fine, but 1 lvl is useless.
@@JlRlK but tomislav is useless, so noone cares
KGB is great against Fists of Steel heavies. With like 2 in health on kill and 2 in swing speed, it kills them FAST.
U having less than 1k subs is a crime with how good these vids are
This aged well
I will point out one niche for the shotguns. In the event your find yourself stuck with an engie who either can't keep their dispenser up and you find yourself running out of ammo (something that has happened to me on more than one occasion) having a backup weapon that you can continue to deal damage with while you run to an ammo pack can be very useful.
Why do some Engies think that turtling is a good strategy, I just had a game where I as the Heavy, Soldier, and the other Heavy fighting for ammo.
this is what fists are for
@@Orangutanus no it’s not ranged
@@scouthedog the shotgun is also made for close combat
@@Orangutanus not ranged and you usually switch out your melee for utility
The double uber rate hidden stat on the fists of steel make it S tier now. If the heavy brings them out then immediately pockets them, the medic still gets double uber rate as long as the beam isn't broken.
There’s no double Uber rate, it just builds the normal rate smh.
it doesn't give you double uber rate, instead there's a bug where the uber rate doesn't slow down when you're overhealed
Your music selection is so awesome
Mario Sunshine and Guile’s theme were not the things I was expecting to hear on a TF2 video
Personally I’d rank the shotguns higher just because they have really good synergy with the brass beast and the panic attack in particular is really good with the fists of steel because it offsets the switch speed downside
No
The switch speed downside is bugged and can be bypassed by just switching to another weapon again
I'd personally go with the family business over the panic attack, but that's just my personal preference
I was in a MVM boot camp once with my best friend and some randoms. 4 of us(including me and my friend) were playing as Heavy, the 2 other players were Medic and Engineer. Each of us Heavies used a different Minigun. It was really fun and went pretty well but at
the same time I wished there was a Scout too. 😁
Natasha is at least C tier. It's slow effect can bunch mobs together, letting the demoman's traps be more effective. That same clustering lets soldiers and pyros hit more with each shot. It lets milk and jarate hit more at once. It slows sentry busters, usually killing them so the engineer doesn't have to reposition and risk dying while holding a level 3 building.
With piercing shots, it can slow down entire groups of robots.
And those annoying scouts that cap the bomb will be slowed which makes it easier for the team to notice. Super scouts are wave killers as far as I’m concerned and an unprepared team can lose because of one.
the huo long is super good imo. as you said its one of the few loadouts where a good engi is crucial (but i play a lot on custom servers) but when you have one? it just goes ham. you deal so much damage when bodyblocking giants, and standing on the bomb makes common robots easy to deal with. you can also be more mobile than with the brass beast. also the ring of fire is a godsend if youre getting swarmed by weak robots.
i usually like to upgrade resistances and health on kill first when using the huo long so you can become a bodyblock god
For anyone who knows about the Fist of Steel's hidden benefit, it can double the rate at which medics charge, which more info can be found on Big Joey's channel.
It doesn't, strictly speaking, double the rate of Medigun charges - it simply lowers your max health to always be under the 142.5% threshold, so that your medic won't ever get the reduced charge rate.
@@VanessaMagick I'm sick of people saying this doubles uber rate. Thank you for being a beacon of sanity.
Of course everyone will be parroting the exact same fact after the video
@@oxythemoron7052 big joey not understanding tf2 mechanics? say it ain't so...
@@VanessaMagick on top of that, he never said DOUBLED in the way everyone thought. It simply builds twice as fast when Maxed overhealed than without.
I’d give Natasha at least a C tier, maybe a B tier. It’s no brass beast, but the slow mechanic, it is super helpful for sentry busters and scouts.
Agree, but I think it just in C Tier, because it's only good against well like you just say,Super Scout and Sentry Buster
@@MuichirouTokito416there’s more than that. Clumping groups of robots together with Natasha can be useful for soldier, demo or pyro.
I was always watching your videos not realising you don't really have that much subs and views - you deserve way more, because it's quality videos! a sub from me
1:31 The Natasha is actually pretty good as a support weapon, so you know how you hate knockback in MVM? Well slowness actually helps your team. Let me go over issues with knockback.
-Neuters Demo’s Sticky Traps: Slowness will keep the robots in the sticky trap longer so Demoman has more time to react
-Less Splash Damage Potential: Yeah, your team loses splash damage… in exchange for direct hits because it’s easier to shoot slow guys than fast guys.
-Less Bullet Penetration: Slowness won’t help or hurt with this
-Damage Fall-Off and Knockbacker does less Damage: These are the only things your honestly sacrificing, but slowness more than makes up for it.
-Engineer’s Dispenser is at Risk: Not at all, by slowing down robots your Dispenser is hidden for longer
-Your sniper will absolutely hate you: Well slowness will make it easier for the Sniper to aim at the robots and he will think you are Jesus reincarnated
I've really tried the Natasha but while everything you said is true... the damage loss is really really noticeable. Especially because heavy can't upgrade the minimum dmg AND the firing speed upgrade is bugged for the 2nd tick. Still better than the tomislav though
@@scantyer I am honored that you listened to my comment, I forgot to note that my comment was theoretical.
@@UnluckyCharacter821 ah well i played mvm with the natascha a few times before. In the end of the day, it's a weapon you only use if your team is struggling with fast scouts.
Nope. Let me tell you something as someone that fell in love with big numbers while playing Demo, you fuck our timing, imagine that out if 10 robots coming you only slow 7, I will kill those 7, and do extra job killing the 3 that you didn't slowed down, didn't even killed. And I assure you Sniper doesn't need slow-mo to hit robots that are stationary (like medics) or slow ass Gigants. It is not a bad weapon, but it doesn't help Heavy to do his main thing, at least the Tomislav has synergy with the KGB and let you play like a middle range Heavy while not really actively hindering your close quarters capacity
Hello, yes, I use the stock minigun in MvM and I think it's wonderful. With some movement speed and heal on kill you become a near invulnerable roamer-style heavy, and It's my favorite playstyle by far when compared to the brass beast's Sentry-like playstyle. Granted in most valve MvM you'lll already know where you need to be and stay glued to the spot, but a bad team or custom maps make this loadout a great playstyle from the meta.
Brass Beast also gives that nice damage resistance at 50% health, which stacks really well with the upgrades for the same and the HP upgrades. The slower movement speed is also countered by upgrades, but good luck affording them.
Actually, the DR also applies to any shot that would take you below half health.
@@TheTundraTerror but only to damage you'd take after that point.
2:05 Because not everyone is good at the game and it lets me aim better by slowing down the enemy. I don't play mvm much, but that is primarily the reason I was the Natascha in pvp.
D Tier 0:33
C Tier 3:00
B Tier 4:11
S Tier 7:46
Oh
oh yeah fun fact: the long-heater combined with the vacc in mvm is completely unstoppable,
because when the heavy runs out of ammo, killbind, med pops a bubble, and you're back with full ammo so theres no need to stand by the dispenser and get right up in the bot's faces doing max dmg, i managed to end with 190,000 dmg... if that's not dumb i dunno what is
Here’s the thing, you can do this with any minigun. Even then this will never happen if you have a semi competent engi
*Natasha is bad mouthed for its damage*
Boy, you don't appreciate its subtle beauty.
I often switch to a shotgun if there is a stray bot with a bomb that happened to get by and I need go keep up the pace. Also, you're not always guaranteed to have an Engineer, it happens to me surprisingly often that I just straight up run outta ammo and have a spare hitscan weapon to keep me alive on my way to the nearest ammo/health kits
I don't quite agree with the shotguns (mostly the family business), as far more than once I had to be the one to run out the one bot getting near the hatch while the rest of the team is asking in chat why the bot stopped spawning.
against the incostant capacity of teamates to realize there's a lunchbox on the ground (when not litterally pushing a giant into it), emergency extra damage, or chipping at the enemy while repositioning feels to me a better choise
especially if paired with the BB

7:36 Eh? Again, it depends on where you play.
If you play exclusively Two Cities or even Potato.tf servers, you probably won't find that many bad players.
But God if you try doing niche official mvm tours or even try community servers, then you'll find those moments
the clip of you eating amidst a gang of fos heavies was pretty funny
Fun fact: if you max out recharge time on the Second Banana it is fully recharged by the time you finish eating it.
8:23 Let's not ignore the fact, that GRU deletes ALL you overheal.
I’d put the Panic Attack (NOT the other 2 shotguns) in C or even B Tier. If you have a chunk of 1200 credits, it surpasses the Warrior’s Steak strat for tankbusting, and if a soldier is running buff, it becomes over 300 DPS, but it’s temporary due to reloading. It means heavy can deal approximately 1800 (Assuming full clip + firerate) damage in a few seconds, with Minicrits more, and that’s decent I’d say.
Yeah, but without the Buffalo you are
1. Not able to throw a medkit
2. Do not get a speed boost
3. Wasting time recharging your shotgun
Melee just works, you do shiton if consistent DPS without drawbacks
Whaaat, i was thinking you are a popular youtuber! Ooh, your videos are so nice.
The reason people say the buffalo steak is pretty bad in mvm is it's pretty bad in general
i need to say this: Natascha is amazing. the slow down on enemies paired with knockback rage and penetration is INSANELY effective. you can hold back a whole horde of robots by yourself and nothing can go further except charging demoknights but even they struggle to make a single step forward. the damage isn't amazing but the utility is just ssooooo worth it!
With his thoughts on knock back and the fact knock back rage slows your firing speed. I think he'd disagree.
You know what's even better than slowing the crowd of robots down? Killing them.
@@PowerfulSkeletonthat’s the job of the other classes at times. Soldier, pyro and demo can do all that just fine. Plus the super scouts are no issue and sentry busters become a joke.
I think Warriors Spirit deserves B tier. Its like this weapon has almost the same utility as KGB but works a bit different and requires synergy with other weapon. KGB has also very similar damage output on tanks as you mentioned in video. KGB attack rate is slower, WS has random crits and higher raw dps.
I find that the shotguns tend to be useful if your engineer isn't very good at keeping their dispenser up. Quite often I'll dump my credits into firing speed and HoK on my primary and neglect ammo capacity entirely. Thus I'll just run out of ammo really quick. The shotguns aren't meant to be your workhorse, they're meant to be a fallback option. Now if your engineer is adept at keeping their dispenser up, this is a non issue. It's like your comment on the brass beast but in reverse.
5:52 Cannibalism.
something that people seem to miss is that the GRU remove all of your overheal once you holster them, so either you run fast and lose your overheal when you're done or you keep it and move slower
however, that could be seen as a benefit if your medic knows this, and they can farm their shield/uber off of you by you losing your overheal
Adding to the Huo Long Heater a little late
it can supplement a pyro in killing swarms of small robots, though it's less applicable with more skilled pyros.
if your pyro keeps dying after lighting a few bots on fire, it can be used to shred the burning bots, though in fairness this is a little bit of a niche use case
Agree Huo-Long is B but if the the gas passer gets nerfed or your pyro is using the scorch shot it is A Tier to S Tier on a few maps
Robots don't have proper taunt animations, that might have been why. Except engineer though, maybe try it on a engie bot?
I mostly played Scout, Solider, and Spy in MvM above all other classes, but at least in my experience playing heavy, half the time I wanted to give a lunchbox item to a teammate for healing, in the time it took for me to raise my gun and pull it out, that teammate would already be dead, so I used to be more skeptical of if lunchbox items were really that useful (or really any of heavy's secondary weaps for that matter).
But as I was thinking to myself on the concept of using shotgun to keep continuous damage while retreating, I thought about how nice it'd be to get away faster and thought "Oh, wait, GRU" and then I thought about how assuming you got away, how you may have some extra time on your hands for healing and ammo, and then imagine what would happen if you escaped with a teammate and realized my previous line of thinking was pretty flawed.
I still feel lunchbox item usage is situational, and I wouldn't go after a player for not having one equipped, but I definitely do see them being greater than shotguns now (and also that their existence makes GRU shine even brighter).
I wanna say thank you for the guides, as a pyro/heavy main i want to make sure i am always able to support my team, i might not fully support the tiering of the scorch shot because it often came down to it to slow down a giant while my team was coming to help me and i had no more flamethrower ammo for airblast, but that doesn't mean that you are wrong on pretty much everything else, and as i said, these guides come in handy
Great vid
The Warriors Spirit and Huo long are underrated In MVM. The WS is a decent tank busting weapon (although the Phlog, soda popper, and cleaners + Bushwaka are better). The Huo Long isn’t so bad if you stay near dispensers and get ammo upgrades.
8:32 Finally, a Vermintide 2 reference in a TF2 video
Random funny thing about the brass beast: in the late game, you can survive sentry busters if you’re revved, yes even after the nerf to damage taken to only activating below 50% Hp. The conditions required are: max overheal (750 Hp), max explosion resistance, and revved up.
It’s very niche but it’s pretty funny. I found this out on accident once bc I was playing without headphones once and our engie wasn’t that good.

Gotta disagree with you a bit there about the Natasha. Is it the best, no, but it has it's uses outside of Two-cities. People often forget the meta changes for the different tours. In Operation Gear Grinder there are a LOT of Giant Scout bots. Entire waves of them, and while high DPS using 3 heavies going crazy is the meta there, if you're playing with inexperienced players that aren't able to keep up with all the giant scouts, using the natasha can slow them down enough to make up the difference.
Which S Tier minigun do you recommend the most?
(Stock Or Brass Beast)
Have medic friend= brass beast
No medic = stock
I'm not a heavy main but Thanks!
It's for my friends
I wonder if the Eviction Notice with all swing speed upgrades and a Kritzkreig medic would be a good tank busting tool. I also realized if you buy a movement speed upgrade you can match the speed of the GRU but with less health drained.
8:42 that was beautiful
Its weird that you talked about all the effects of other classes on the huo long heater EXCEPT pyro, the one class where it really doesn't matter if they're good or not. If they exist, its probably the best minigun to choose.
Mmmmmm, new youtuber with talent, me likeyyyy
Big Joey said in his mvm guide to use the fists of steel
IMO the brass beast, chocolate and GRU is the best mvm heavy load out. The chocolate actually heals a lot more if you use it after using the gru.
the fists segment is listed as "bottle"
good to know heavy got a new lunchbox item
The crit brass beast is so sexy I’ve been working on a pack a punch sound for it.
The pain train is also in the category of it’s upside bot being in mvm
Fun fact: The warriors spirit is the best damaging tool in x100 or -x1000 servers, due to doing 50 or 500 more damage then even the direct hit
Hou long with carteens it is badass weapon, you can stop a horde o big robot and do massive damage (sadly it is true you need a true friendly engie give you a dispenser at starting of the game before you get ammo updates).
Note a: Robots cant eat heavy sandwich, you can drop it at the starting of the wave and support pyro or spy players.
Note b:For me one Essentials update for heavy it is speed movement, remenber also not only upgrade you run/walk movement, also upgrade your movement while your are shooting your minigun, very important to dodge proyectiles or play with robots agroo (hiding behind a corner while medic/dispenser is healing you)
i remember ubering a heavy using the warrior's spirit it ended well cuz i keep giving him crits it turned from having to fight bosses longer to ending the fight earlier he also shredded a tanks HP like jesus christ he kick that tanks ass
Tomislav has a use case if you don't have a medic. I know, it's a non-optimal team composition to find the use case, but as a solo boot camp bandaid it can be useful.
3:53 Don't you mean a team WITH a medic? If you don't have a medic that's 50 health you're not going to have otherwise.
The 50 extra health doesn't stack with overhead so medics make the bar useless
I think Natasha has some use in grouping the robots. Demo's Loose Cannon was praised for being able to knock giants before they dropped, making sticky traps more effective as they were now grouped. Natasha could do that too, slowing the front runner until others group around it.
Still think it's nowhere near Sasha or Brass, but maybe a little closer to Tomi's level of maybe C.
Nope, Demo's greatest damage dealer are his stickies, the Loose is just extra utility. But heavy is all about damage from up close, and if your mini gun can't KILL then you are not able to do your job properly
@@leonel392 Isn't that kinda the point I was getting at though? I said the Loose Cannon was meant to make stuff like the Scottish Resistance better by grouping robots before they drop, Natasha's slowdown could probably be used to similar effect by making a Scottish Resistance Demo more effective. Plus, who would kill robots before they drop? That means no credits for Scout to scoop up, Natasha's -25% damage won't be killing nothing before they drop. I'm not saying Natasha can go to S with Minigun or Brass, they're clearly the best of the bunch, but just inch Natasha a few bits closer to C like Tomislav is.
@@willropa4226 oh, you know you can't slow them down until they fall? And when they fall they either die before shooting or shoot before dying, small bots are fodder, if your minigun is unable to kill them before they swish kebab you then is worst. And as Demoman enjoyer you do not make our life's easier, because the longer we don't detonate stickies the longer we have to play with one hand in our back
@@leonel392 Oh, whups. 🤐
Thanks for that, back to the trash bin with Natasha.
Kinda surprised though that Demos don't approve of stalling bots though, give stickies time to ramp, more robots caught in the boom instead of having to catch stragglers, sounded like a win-win to me.
@@willropa4226 it is depending on HOW you are slowing them, with the canon you don't lose anything, and is easy to use and spam. And you don't use your primary anyway, but Heavy is one of the strongest Gigant killers, if he doesn't KILL then we have a problem, it is not useless as an oh shit mechanic against Gigant Scouts, but again, Heavy can just bodyblock them. Remember that the traps are either: to kill a bunch of minions or to kill specific Gigants, and the Scottish resistance being able to blow up only the sticky that you look make it easier, and in the worst case we can just sticky spam while laying traps at the same time, shooting and reloading speed works wonders. So yeah, it just doesn't work, because muscle memory is a big enemy
I didn't even know the Buffalo Sandvich got buffed! Sounds a lot better now!
You are good son real good maybe even the best
I always saw the Fists of Steel as a great tool if you need to retreat for whatever reason
Natascha needs a bit more credit, slowing enemies let's the rest of your team better handle the bots, more time to put the DPS in, I wont' go higher then to say say 'low tours only;. since highly experinced players don't need that help;.
Actually, I have to disagree with the Natascha and here's why. While you're right about the damage penalty and the Super Scouts. You forgot two uses cases that kind still apply if you're SoloQ.
1. Sentry Busters, you can slow them down considerably, helping the Engineer to not move his sentry away from him as many times as possible.
2. Building Über for Medics, while someone else is the main focus for attention to the robots. Medics can quickly use the Ubersaw to build Uber fast.
Honestly, I'd put the Natascha in C tier.
The hue long heater can be a straight upgrade if you have a pyro and an engi
i think natascha deserves at least C tier, it's an absolute carry on super scout waves with a team that doesn't know how to deal with them, and that just makes your life so much easier as a solo queue player, some people just do not know how to milk slow or bodyblock and they don't try to learn either
Brass Beast and Sandvich are definitely the most consistently good Heavy weapons for MvM, but GRU's health drain really nerfs its potential in-round when you can just buy movement speed upgrades.
The most important tip when doing two cities. Resistance first then meta.
If you use Huo-Long heater in x100 mvm server, it was badass. Trust me, you will love it.
thank you
I use Iron Curtain when I play Heavy, but it's hard to be even getting in a position where my team needs one, they more than often need an Engineer or a Medic.
Personally, I tend to find the Shotguns better than the Second Banana and Sandvich. The reason I find them more useful is the Sandvich and Banana have no real utility outside of using it for a medkit for the Medic or for healing if your medic goes down.
Personally, I find the Shotguns as a great secondary
