    Thank you. As Eric Morecombe would have said, I had all the right bits but not necessarily in the right order. Thank you for supplying the music score.

    Yep get it down to the spindle and secure and you're good to go. It's a cracking blade. Think a lot of people will give it a go after the recommendation. That blade has saved me a ton of time this year and so far it's bombproof. I just file it regularly.

      As M'Learn'd colleague wisely counsels...'Dome' up. I'm not seeing a lot of Land on the length of the splines? So better upside down than no, or too little, engagement. However, why the faffy little Keyway type slot on the blade. 'Anyone enlighten?

    I'm glad you remind people to check the tightness of the retaining nut or bolt,because although left hand thread,and in theory should not work loose,they can do,every time you refuel, it pays to check.

    I've found as well that the bent shaft strimmers turn the blade the wrong way, hence why you can't fit the blade on a strimmer. Brilliant bit of kit.

      The engine on bent shaft and straight shaft strimmers turn the same way, the difference at the strimmer head end is, the bent shaft still turns the same as the engine but the straight shaft(all brushcutters) has a gearbox on the end that rotates through the gearing which reverses the head at the end. If any drive shaft has a gearbox it turns in a different direction from its input to its output. Sorry for the long winded reply, just letting you know.

    • @bobbelsekwol
      @bobbelsekwol 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@brianconnor1810 That makes sense. I've had a few bent shaft strimmers and for general use (edging and grass) are great. But more heavy duty use straight shaft everyday.

    • @brianconnor1810
      @brianconnor1810 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@bobbelsekwol Yes, thats because bent shaft strimmers have a curved flexible driveshaft where as the straight shaft uses a solid steel driveshaft, it can handle more torgue of the larger engines.

      I'm having problems with the fitting on my oleo mac 746 strimmer/brushcutter. It's a heavy duty machine but smoke and severe over heating have begun occurring whilst in use and has melted off the guard that attaches to it. I've tried different methods of fitting including what was shown here and same problem. I'm running out of ideas if anyone has any suggestions?

    Any thoughts on which of the 4 Oregon mulching blades to get for keeping brambles under control a couple of times per year? They do a 2 blade or 3 blade, in either 3mm or 4mm thick steel. Thanks. I've got a 47cc Tanaka petrol brushcutter, by the way, so I guess the engine is powerful enough to handle the 4mm thick blades... it's just whether I need anything that thick or not.

    Been using the oregon mulching blade for about 2 years now, small tip, at the cost of the blade you are better having a spare because if a large chunk gets broken off it causes unbalance on the machine as it spins potentially causing gearbox problems. You actually feel the blade isnt spining correctly, Great blade though, stihl shredder blade even better but more expensive.

    I would like to mention that there are two size's of oregan blade , one is 3mm thick and the othe is 4mm thick. I use the lighter blade on my honda brushcutter.

      You need to use the small washer ( reducing washer) you get with the blade for Stihl brushcutter. Mines is a Stihl FS 410 and i required the washer on the blade then attach to the machine.

    • @aaronboggs9719
      @aaronboggs9719 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@brianconnor1810 yeah the oregon blade. The washer that came with it didn't last too long seemingly and found a suitable replacement. What I noticed when using it was it would seize up at the shaft even though everything was fitted and sat flush once fastened and eventually began overheating to the point it began smoking and the guard melted lol. I inspected the shafts and moving parts which all seem fine so it's once the parts were on there and in use that I started having problems and that's not even putting the mulcher to hard task even, it's been brambles I've stuck to clearing with barely any stone in the area.
