    This is just an issue of choked gutters. What is the assembly/city council doing? The citizens should also dispose refuse correctly. You can’t dump refuse in gutters and not expect flood when it rains.

    • @abacecilia
      @abacecilia 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Exactly what I was thinking. Nice comment. I have lived in takoradi before. They like dumping refuse anyhow, so most gutters are chocked.

    • @blackblaze5271
      @blackblaze5271 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No it's not. Gutters aren't going to prevent flooding. Ghanians need to learn more about how the world works instead of immediately looking for something to blame. Floods are a fact of life not how clean your gutters are. Things can be done but they involve how your cities are built, having places for excess water to go to, having levees to stop the water in the first places etc.
      But all these things cost money that you need to fund your government for. But ghanaians don't want to support or fund their government they think it's supposed to have magic money

    • @donnbiggie
      @donnbiggie 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@blackblaze5271 It is an established fact that choked gutters are one of the major causes of floods. While gutters alone may not prevent floods regardless of its size, a choked one makes it worse regardless of the amount of rainfall.

    • @blackblaze5271
      @blackblaze5271 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@donnbiggie
      Fact from where?
      So how do you explain severe floods happening in other cities and countries? Is that also choked gutters? If your land is in an area that's prone to flooding it will flood, your gutter is not a concern. We know flooding used to happen in the past even before gutters existed because there was no where for the excess water to go. Unless you build infrastructure to address flooding and redirect the water, flooding will always happen and it will be as bad as how much it rains.
      Water doesn't immediately enter the ground and with all the people who want every place paved and covered cement and gravel it take even longer for the ground to soak up the rain.

      Leadership is NOT only with Government, but with Government appointees like MCE, DCE, Ministers, and other city employees responsible for cleaning gutters, building waterways, and making sure Garbage bins are placed on city streets to prevent garbage and bottles to clog waterways. All these leaders get paid well to assume these responsibilities so why do you expect ordinary hungry citizen to do these jobs?

I saw university student selling water in his school uniform. If people of Ghana don't change their mind and stop collapsing individuals business and wait for the government, they will go hungry all the time. In western world, it's individuals who opens jobs not the president.

      Gutters have nothing to do with it. There are even areas called 'flood plans' that will flood because of how low the land is. Whether you have clogged gutters or not that's not going to change that fact that some places will flood during rain. That's why flooding happens everywhere even places with no plugged gutters.
      City planning and government funds are the main things that can solve problems like this

    1. People will throw stuff in them.
    2. Water pressure will increase in the gutters when it rains and the pressure will push the solid waist away.
    3. The city will look nicer than it is today
    4. Driving will be much convenient.

    Choked drains happen in America, but the difference is the drains get cleaned so that the very next time it rains, it doesnt cover the streets. Now if the cause is river water rising or dams failing that requires a different solution not an easy one like UNCHOKING the gutters.

    Please Rain storms are over the world what is happening in the western Region as compared to what is going on in LIBYA 🇱🇾. The Rain storm in TAKORADI is a storm luckily no life is lost and our problem is that our roads in the cities are badly designed as well as sewage systems across GHANA 🇬🇭 is very bad as in GHANA we don't have CIVIL ENGINEERS in GHANA 🇬🇭 we have them they drive to work every day but yet still they don't care about it no public accountability nobody is checking on anybody and no one is asking questions about what is going on in GHANA 🇬🇭. We need to ask questions about who is in charge and those who are in charge are well paid but nothing is done.

The kind of infrastructure to redirect any water and store it in facilities will cost billions.Donating is a waste of time unless the whole town is dug up and drainage systems is built but for now building on higher foundations and concrete platforms is an option.With global sea rising this city will not survive.

With the size of the gutters in ghana it would overflow and flood in no time. It's not a major factor. If you're going to flood you're going to flood. Baaba, I hope you're doing well, and thanks for all these updates. Our main problem is that we need a leader in Tadi. Apart from the Western regional minister, who else does the politicians consult for development, none. A president will go to ahenfie for blessings, and the chief or the leader in return will ask for development. Tadi lacks that and is one of these reasons why we are struggling as a city. What shows we are an oil city. Takoradi stopped developing a long time ago, and the so-called leaders don't care. We need a new direction now

    The problem is the people must stop depending and waiting on the socalled government.and the people must learn that they are the true government, and they the people must put together and build,we are the one's using these establishment,so if we all put in together and work together we can generate more than enough money to fixed these problems.. because the socalled government they are too busy spending the people's money.and we must stop voting for leaders,we are our leader.what we need to do is vote for a representative, someone to represent us in outside matters and if and when those representing us not doing their job then they must be held to pay and get fired.we the people living in these communities have to learn to pull together with our resources and build better streets,drains etc.

    Citizens need to change their attitude, anytime it's raining, people start throwing their rubbish and so what are you expecting. When gutters are blocked, off course there will be flooding.

    What did the minister of environment who was caught with $1m stashed in his bedroom, exactly did to alleviate such drainage problems in the country?!
    That’s the question the public should be asking the so called Minister for Environment old/new!!
    Instead of using public funds available to eradicate such drainage issues, politicians rather steal the money to enriching themselves whilst the country infrastructure rot devoid of any continuous maintenance!
    Instead of employing well trained & competent Ministers for required positions they’d rather employ inept incompetent novices, devoid of any knowledge or expertise to carry out roles appointed to!

    The first and foremost thing to do is to see to it that all gutters are clean. It's not everything that we expect the government to do it. It's hardly to see Eastern Region flooded because we clean our gutters in front and behind our houses . Cleanliness is the way to Godliness. Those at the market places should be advised not to put rubbish in the gutters when they close from work. There must be a positive change from all

      The same gutter talk. Gutters have nothing to do with flooding. Are all the places around that world that flood having issues with full gutters? It have more to do with geography and nature. If your government has money they might be able to deal with it

    Our problems in Ghana is some of this blogger's, so now is it the government fault , abaaaaaa Ghana fuo kasa du du,aden, rain falls in every part of the world, there's season for rainfall, that's how god has made it, why should we blame politicians for the rain, how can they be responsible for this, tell them to keep the gutters and their surroundings clean, so that what the rain falls heavy it will have its way, do your research well the whole world has these problems every year, and no-one complain about it, because they know it like this since the creation of the world, but because of our ignorance we have turn everything into politics, while the main problem is us, our only solutions for this is to keep our surroundings and gutters clean, so that when the rain falls it will flows freely, no one can this , unless we keep our surroundings clean
