- This time I've got a mod here that FIXES Stardew Valley. It rebalances a lot of the overpowered elements of the game and brings up some new ones! Let's see how I would play the first couple days of this!

I think one of the major issues with Stardew is that there's no self balancing in the game.
The prices each season should randomize a bit and maybe a new TV channel that gives some hints like, discuss a parsnip shortage or talk about how a warehouse of wine was found.
You won't know how much it effects the prices but it will make it worth switching up your game play constantly which will overall make the game more interesting imo.
That's a great idea, would make the game so much more interesting
reading this makes me sooo excited for all the new mods in about 2/3 years, especially with the upcoming update dedicated to bette rmod support + the rising popularity of the game itself
I know Stardew is very unrealistic but having a real economy like if you sell a ton of wine one day then the prices drop the next it would be more fun maybe as an option while starting a new save
And seed/livestock prices should fluctuate. It might take a bit of work to balance crops for their respective growth cycles, but yes this would make the game come alive, every season every playthrough would feel different.
I think that a simple version of supply and demand could work. Let’s say that you sell a couple hundred star fruit jelly on season. Then maybe for the next two months or so the price could go down so it would not be profitable to sell star fruit jelly anymore. But as a result maybe the price for the star fruit seeds would also go Down because it’s not in as high demand anymore. If a system like that was applied to all crops and processed products then it would give you a insensitive to switch up what you do and maybe even save products so you can sell them later when the price is higher. Combined with a stock like price fluctuation on a weekly basis and I think that this system could actually be really good for replay-ability. Add random events that as you said could be a new Chanel on the TV that might at a somewhat random interval make specific products/produce ether skyrocket in value or plummet in value for a random time between 1 to 3 weeks or something like that. And I think this system could actually make the game really interesting for repeat play throughs.
I assume that Ancient Fruits were made more common in this mod otherwise there's no reason for it to be nerfed so much considering its vanilla rarity
Same, cuz 110 is PATHETIC for something that harvests once a week. If the rarity wasn't changed, it should be something like 225g.

Because everyone has already played Stardew with ancient fruit as their endgame strat. This forces you to do something different. (But also their rarity is irrelevant once you have a seedmaker)

This is cool and all but I think I need to call this mod out. After looking at the spreadsheet it did not "balance" much so much as make the current meta options straight up dogshit. It did not make it "more fair" it made it straight up garbage, while buffing the worst options by like 5g which is nothing and buffing already strong things like the mines for no other reason than "new players don't use it so surely it isn't good enough" I dunno man. I'm happy for whoever enjoys this mod but imo it is anything but as balanced as it claims itself to be
Yeah, I think I feel the same way. Like I absolutely avoid the mines at all cost so maybe it would make me more likely to go there? But it also buffed fishing which is something I already do, so why would I go to the mines? I think it's interesting to mess around with when you're bored with the normal game, but calling it "balancing" isn't really true.
@@myownbravado you straight up can't call it balanced when an ancient fruit that's hard to find and takes 28 days to even mature produces fruit that sells for the same amount as melons do. And esp when starfruit loses you money. If anything this made stardew even more grindy which isn't a good thing. All the best farming options were nerfed into the ground and I don't wanna hear any "well farming was op so it needed to be nerfed" it's a FARMING SIMULATOR. Imagine the shock when I boot up a farming simulator and wanna farm and not fight for my life in caves

I always think balanced thing should just make people be more subjective about which crops they picks because it doesn't really matter if they end up all the same price. As for example, some people prefer to have more money each day than more money each week. Although We need to some thing to make people do variety of thing also known as "diversify" like some people talk in the comments section. I personally think ancient sed is nerfed way too hard, You could just make it like 250g and end it like that.
Also I think we need to account for growth. Lot of thing will end up unnecessary because we are at the end game. As an example, Clay farming basically became worthless at the end of the game. I think of adding a substitute for Ancient Seed. (Let's just buff sweet gem berry to be similar to Ancient Seeds)
What if they add a live economy like slime rancher? It would encourage players to diversify their options and not do monoculture right?

i think stardew valley could take a concept from slime rancher, in the plort market, where the things you sell and random price changes effect the price of specific items, if you sell a ton of wine the wines price drops until its not really as profitable, or if you sell something like a egg anything that is made with a egg also drops in value but a little less, or other eggs drop in value a bit, basically items sold will effect more than just the item you sold, so if you sell a bunch of ancient fruit the ancient fruit wine might not sell for as much, and same with basically anything
tldr: bring plort market from slime rancher into this game but make it slightly more complex and remove the prediction from it.

I expected something like a supply and demand system as a system of balancing it, and maybe slight value changes to make the weaker income sources more viable and the strongest sources a bit weaker, so it more focused on diversity of income sources rather than just changing what is effective and what isn’t, but this only changed the values they sell for, and not always for the better (especially starfruit, that seems way too severely nerfed). I wouldn’t go so far as to call this mod bad, but I’d definitely not call it great.
So a good video from a good content creator on a mediocre mod.

I think an interesting thin to try out would be to make buy/sell prices fluctuate periodically and have high demand items that you can sell for much more than they would normally be worth
I'm sorry so starfruit arnt even worth it now if the seeds are worth more then the fruit itself
this mod makes sense, but imo the logical extension of it is for the values to be randomized. this forces you to really explore everything for yourself and ensures no two playthroughs will be the same (even more than normal)!
Not a fan of some of these. Starfruit "balance" is pretty harsh -- already have to replant them regularly, and they take half a season to grow, *just* so you can now get net loss on your investments. Dino eggs selling for more than *solid gold* is bold, especially since dino eggs are easier to get.
Idk, probably more, but this kind of seems more like dev bias than objective re-balance or overhaul.
I really like all these changes, even the community center. I grew up playing Harvest Moon and generally those games were harder than Stardew Valley (at least until the 3DS era). As for Ancient Fruit, I think it would be cool if it could still be sold for a lot but if you could not put it in the seed maker. That way, you wouldn't be able to mass-produce it but it still maintains its novelty. I do think some parts of it should be adjusted for it to really be called balanced but I still like the concept.

When i found out that fishing at the rock didn't make a difference i felt so betrayed but i do it anyway cuz its just a habit now
i still think people dont get how powerfull crabpots are for year 1
if you do a rush, to fill the beach with crabpots, and you get mariner, and converting everything below 75 into sashimi, you can make around 15k per day. by summer year 1.
that's 15k y1 with no waste of energy. it will take some time, sure. but its a garanteed money maker. and the best part is, once setup, you could very easily swap later to angler or pirate.
the biggest problem with crabpots is how tedious it is to empty and fill them every time.

Odd thing: I am terrible fishing so i didn't get my fishing rod or fish until the third day, and I went straight to the river, as opposed to the ocean to fish for the first time in a brand new save file. I managed to hook a catfish as my first fish on the save file and by game mechanic, the first fish you catch is impossible to lose because your fishing bar doesn't drop, so I got a catfish on level 1. No player skill, and no character levels. I don't think ANYONE realizes this is possible, I mean, who DOESN'T get their fishing rod on day two? and who doesn't fish until day 3, and specifically go to the river to fish, as opposed to fishing on the ocean, that's right there when you get the rod from willie? And besides that, you need the RNG to give you a catfish in the first place. Does ANYONE know that you can do that? Am I just a completely trash fisherman?
i used to do this before i got good enough at fishing to catch the catfish on my own at level 1-2! i've recommended this method to a lot of my friends who play as well.
On my first save file I didn't get my fishing rod until mid spring and I didn't start fishing for a while. The first time I fished was in the river and I got a catfish as well. I didn't think it was anything too remarkable. Since then I have done the same thing in another save file. I'm sure plenty of people don't know this, but to me it's just an everyday fact.
I'm new to your channel; loved the endless summer video! Have you tried Walk of Life: Immersive Professions? That mod also breathes new life into the game. Especially in the late game.

ive played the game for years but my og file got deleted and my mom always had the switch. i finally started playing it a bit more and doing stuff ive never done. ive never done skull caverns or ginger island. so im glad i still have stuff to explore :3

I can appreciate a mod trying to approach game balance differently, but based on the impression i get from the spreadsheet, i don't agree with almost all of the design choices lol. Why would you do my kale dirty?? Buff potatoes? Carp catch themselves and they are worth twice as much gold? But fishing is still useless post early game? I wonder if these days the mod looks different than at recording time

ill say it now, im a very beginnerish stardew player. im trying to get a lot better at it, but i still do suck quite a bit lol. i have gotten better at the game, a lot, but still not the absolute best. im more of a foraging / farming player, but seeing ‘pros’ complete the game i do realise its not the absolute best strat. im trying my best, please leave tips youve found out.

Possibly because the the game is balanced around first time players, not people who know the way the game works inside-out. Ofc the game is broken if you always know exactly how you're going to spend the next two days to maximize gains, and the same could be said for the entire season, except for some small rng elements like rain.

whenever i play stardew valley i always have a rule that i cant use ancient fruits on the seed maker (which is something i honestly think the dev should do.) making it so that you can make more of an extremely valuable crop on infinitum is an obvious one-way ticket to exponential unfair money growth. if it just stays an extremely rare intem to get, the game stays balanced

Why did they nerf Starfruit and Ancient Fruit so horribly? I know that's what most people use to make money, but it's still balanced due to how the seeds are obtained and growth time. Ancient Seeds are only obtainable through artifacts or the Seed Maker and take a full month before they produce fruit, and then only produce fruit every 7 days.
